“All This & Vegetables Galore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

The Pompano Houston's is the Best! Dine outdoors on the Intracoastal with outdoor bar or inside booths & indoor bar. Excellent cocktails & wine list. Whatever you get burger or great veggie burger, sashimi salad, fish or meat try the grilled artichoke or better yet order the vegetable plate, braised red cabbage, kale salad with peanut, couscous , it's a mouthwatering treat..frequent it once or twice a week. Don't miss it, very nice ambience & service

“Great food, great view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

What fun to eat outside at this lovely restaurant on the intercostal. The food is pricey, but delicious. Try the Key Lime pie - its to DIE for!!! We went about 3:00 p.m. and there wasn't as much of a wait. They don't take reservations for 4 or less outside, so plan on waiting if you go at high-times. If you do eat inside, you can ask for a table by the windows where they also look out at the costal waterway.

“Still popular if you have the patience and are not looking for a view across the inter-coastal!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Been going here for over 10 years.
Reviewed last year and went back this year to get a table outside at 3:00 on a Friday afternoon........as they now only have two tables outside for 4 or more diners (whose idea was that?) our wait would be an hour and a half! As we were only a 5 (one a teenage girl) we asked if we could all squeeze onto one of the numerous tables for 4 (something we have done in the past on a number of occasions)..............this they said was not possible?........we left and on the recommendation of another diner who was sat eating inside Houstons we went to The Big Bear Brewing company where we had a great time with great food, wine and service.
A hint to the management at Houstons.......get your people taking reservations to smile please. it costs nothing and can help a great deal when they are trying to convince a party to sit at a bar for hours waiting for a table!
Shame as we have always liked Houstons but it really needs to revert back to accommodating tables of more than 4.
If I am spending 300 dollars for dinner for 5 late afternoon I expect to be treated a little better at a place that says it doesn't take reservations but does if they know you?
Small world but talking to other people during the season they all said similar things.......like Runyons and certain other establishments they have remained popular, I just wonder how much longer for if they keep treating the snow birds in such a manner?
The moral of this tale is that we had never been to TBBBC and may never have ever gone should Houstons managed to seat us but we all had such a great time that Houstons will now be the 2nd choice for our Friday afternoons.
My advice try them both.....we have and we know which one we will be returning to in our future visits, as the diner in Houstons said to us, come to Houstons for a view but for food TBBBC is another level at similar prices!

“Great views, excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Met a friend at Houston's for dinner. As soon as I pulled up I could see that this place was going to have an amazing view. While there isn't nearly enough parking, they do have complimentary valet parking. When you enter the restaurant, you can see the open kitchen. It was great fun to stand and watch the food being cooked while we waited for our table. It almost felt like we were watching the Iron Chef live. By the time we got our table, we had worked up an appetite watching the ribs, steaks, burgers, and fish being grilled right in front of us. My friend, who frequents the place, had the veggie burger and traditional salad. He said he has tried other things, but keeps coming back to the veggie burger. That's great for him, but having been tempted by the succulent meats for about 20 minutes, I needed beef. The hickory burger was just the item for me. Topped with chopped cheddar cheese, canadian bacon, and BBQ sauce this burger was excellent. It was served with thin little fries just the way I like them. My son tried the swordfish steak with baked potato. The fish was great, but the baked potato, packed with sour cream, butter, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and scallions, was even better. The tiered seating ensures that every seat has a nice view of the intercoastal waterway, so you can watch the boats go by.

“Good food and good view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Lunch with friends on a beautiful South Florida day! Great food and view. We chose to wait for outside seating. Had drinks at the high-tops outside for about 20 minutes while waiting. All ordered various salads. (Resisted hamburger......which is very good there.) Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Food is a little pricey..but the setting on the Intracoastal waterway makes it all worthwhile. Fun watching the yachts docking. Great place for good food, sun, and view!
