“Great, friendly, fun place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

If you want to stay at a place that is clean, friendly, close to the beach, close to stores, etc. This is it...the two fellows that run this place are so courteous, helpful, and upbeat that you feel like you have stepped back in time to when people cared about each other. I loved staying here and would recommend to anyone who is not caught up in 5 star B.S. and is not traveling with any "prince or princesses" that are "high maintence" and wants to have a vacation that feels like you are with friends. It is a flip-flop kick back place that is small, well kept, and safe. Loved it. Hope to get back there some day soon.

The Sea Horse Motel is a gem that seems to be kept a secret from many travelers, especially the gay travelers. Odd, considering the Sea Horse's proximity to Ft Lauderdale. What a great way to get away from all the madness of Ft Laud / Wilton Manors!

The motel is a 50s style roadside motel that's been there for many many years. The bathrooms show the age, but only in the tile (it must be original to the building). Don't be fooled, though. The motel is lovingly cared for and it's obvious! The decor in the rooms is up-to-date and the furnishings seem to be new within the last year or so. The rooms are immaculate and if there is such a thing as a brand-new smell ... well, then, these rooms have it!

The kitchenette is more than adequate and allows for ample storage of food, which was great for both early morning coffee and late-evening drinks by the pool. There is a wall-mounted window-style air conditioner that pumps out enough cold air to refrigerate the entire room - we were very comfortable! Hot water is ample, so much so that it shouldn't be turned up all the way, lest one turn themselves into a lobster during their shower. The water pressure is adequate.

Darren & Phillip are exceptional hosts. They live on the property and treat motel guests just like old friends being welcomed home. The neighborhood is quiet and clean and returning to the Sea Horse at the end of a day's adventures really feels like coming home. They're well-heeled in the area and will give you an honest and dependable recommendation on any dining or recreation about which you're curious.

If you're looking for a place to stay where you'll really be welcomed as friends, then the Sea Horse is the spot!

The Owners Darren and Phillip are beyond friendly and accommodating. The rooms and grounds are kept impeccably clean and tidy. My daughter said that the grounds were like a "sanctuary" tucked between high rise motels and highway A1A. We could not give this place a better recommendation. For the price, hands down the best value in Pompano Beach.

My wife and I stayed at the Sea Horse Motel from 3/14-3/23 and had a fantastic time. The Sea Horse is a very small, older Motel with all the rooms on the ground floor. The grounds were immaculately kept and the pool area just outside your door was a great place to have coffee, breakfast, or use your laptop(free wifi for all guests). Our room #1, had a king size bed, a sitting area, a bathroom with a huge shower, and a kitchenette with a fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Three steps outside our door was the pool area complete with tables, chairs, umbrellas, and chaise lounges. Less than 500 feet away was beautiful Pompano Beach which is huge and never seemed crowded or overrun. The owners Darren and Phillip were the best part of our stay as they made sure everything about our accommodations was taken care of down to the smallest detail. They gave us great recommendations for restaurants and things to do and were spot on each time. By the end of out stay I could tell we would be back to the Sea Horse soon to see our new friends again.
There are many things to do nearby, including but not limited to Butterfly World(10 mins.) Isle Casino and Harness Racing (less than 10 Mins.) Las Olas BLVD. Fort Lauderdale (15 Mins) Golf-Pompano Golf Course (3 Mins.) Gulfstream Park Casino and Thoroughbred Track (20 Mins.) Miami South Beach (25 Mins.) There are not many Restaurants within walking distance, but there are many within a 10-15 minute drive, including Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Flanigan's Bar and Grille, Greek Gyro Express, Primanti Bros. Pizza and Sandwich shop, Jack's BBQ Smokehouse and all of your fast food places.

Room Tip: Only Room 9 does not open to pool area.

This is an older independent hotel. The owners just took it over a year ago but they have made SO many updates it is unreal. All the paint is fresh and clean. Our room was fantastically decorated, really comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was perfect and the shower was big and roomy. The heated pool was great and we enjoyed coffee with the other guests and owners each morning around it. We liked it so much that we tried to stay for a few more days only they were booked, which was not a surprise. The value for the money spent here is great. My girlfriend and I both loved this place and we will most certainly be back!

We found a little gem tucked away in Pompano Beach. Each room is a different theme. Absolutely spotless. Wonderful service personalized to each guest. Our hosts made us feel right at home from the minute we arrived and could not do enough for us. They were a fount of knowledge of local activities and information. We stayed for the entire month of Janusry and it was not enough, can't wait for next year as we plan to spend an entire 3 months there.

My wife and I traveled to the pompano beach area as a staging area for a trip to the Keys. What we found was a great little Motel with wonderful proprieters that were willing to personally ensure your your comfort and security. Punctuated with a beatifull heated pool, this recently renovated Motel has rooms with or without a kitchenette. Everything was emaculate and well kept. Our freinds traveling with us were able to have a room next door and the pool area is a great community area for relaxing and enjoying Florida's beutifull weather. Our location is just across the street from the Beaches with plent of beach access points and a wide selection of beach front Tiki Bars and restautrants to choose from. The drive from the Ft Lauderdale airport is less than 20 minutes, making this a great choice.
