“Great food, great prices, great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

We manage to eat at Checkers at least 2-3 times during the month of February while vacationing in Pompano Beach, usually with a group of about 12 friends as we all enjoy the food, service and atmosphere. Unless you dine early, reservations are a must at this busy restaurant decorated with a collection of beer steins almost as numerous as the beers and wines served. Highly recommended are the potatoe pancakes as an appetizer and spatzel and red cabbage for sides. The fresh fish is always delicious and the pork shank melts in your mouth as does the sauerbraten and schnitzel. For dessert, apple strudel served warm is the perfect ending. Having dined at Checkers for so many years, our group has pretty much sampled the entire menu and agree that if you like German food, this is THE PLACE to get it. For such a busy place, the service is excellent. Check their website or local newspapers for coupons and enjoy!

“A Pompano treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

We drive by it constantly but never tried it. When we finally tried it we were amazed what we were missing. The atmosphere is charming and the good was delicious. They have a vast array of German beers and our server Saskia was awesome.

“Great Food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

We love their food. The charm of the restaurant with the German beer steins and German wines. A big selection of beers and wines. Their apple onion soup is superb. Their fresh bake bread is to make a meal out of it. We visit few times with other family members and tried their Stroganoff, their fish is very fresh and tasty, good potatoes pancakes, I love their red cabbage, has an apple flavor. Their pork schnitzel is excellent and my husband loves the pork shank. for dessert we had apple strudel, they serve it hut. All around a great place. We have been there for lunch and dinner and never left disappointed. They run specials every day and if you go to their website they post coupons. The service was very good and friendly. Great place to enjoy a good meal and good wine.

“Definitely would recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013 via mobile

We always have a meal here whenever we visit the area. Have an early dinner at 5pm otherwise make reservations because the place is always packed. Great atmosphere ...friendly staff ...cool collection of German beer steins all over. Delicious, authentic German food and a large menu of German beers and wines. The bread basket they bring to your table is great - pumpernickel and soft, thick pretzels with mustard. I love their pork stroganoff also but try to order something different every time we go. Never disappointed.

“Good is good but the beer is the main attraction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

We made reservations but it was more like advance notice than a reservation. We waited 30 min, and if you need to sit to wait be aware there are only two small chairs to sit in. The staff was very friendly and hospitable, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are in a German pub. Most of us liked our food, the sauerkraut was amazing as well as the fish and beef dishes we ordered. However, my dad got an on the bone pork dish that was mostly fat he didn't like. The beer was excellent and we were able to order brews we had never heard of or tried. This place is worth a stop for the experience. Dishes range from $6 for soup or appetizer type dish to $15-$20 per entree.
