“Great Home Away from Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2011

I stayed at the ajoining Pelican Place Apartments. The Pineapple and Pelican Place Apartments share the pool, BBQ and laundry. We had a one bedroom apartment. It was very large and had everything we needed, wanted and more. There were few people there when we stayed. We had the whole area to ourselves, so nice and quiet. I love that the door has a combination lock, so no need to carry around a key. The kitchen was small, but we had everything we needed to cook meals. There was a nice outdoor area to play games and visit. The apartments had games, beach chairs, umbrella, cooler for beach. The place was VERY clean. Probably the cleanest place a have been. The beach is about 2 blocks away and a very nice beach. This is not a big touristy area, so it felt like we were living amongst the locals, which I like. We had hoped that we could walk to restaurants and bars, but it really is to far to walk. Parking was easy and convinet, right in front of the apartments. I would stay again.

We were so luck to find Pineapple Place and will be back for sure! Elaine Fitzgerald has thought of everything from beach towels and coolers to board games and plastic cups and plates to use around the pool. The apartment was spotless, homey, convenient and cheery with comfy beds and pillows. The living room/kitchen was perfect for our happy hour gatherings with lots of seating and a family atmosphere. My sisters, mom and I loved it and felt like we were home for the two weeks we spent there. We toured a couple of Elaine's other places as well and were equally impressed (see them at www.4rentbythebeach.com). Highly recommend this quaint, warm and friendly spot that's not only just two blocks from the beach but also a short walk to several great restaurants and a great neighborhood Irish pub!

I had the pleasure of staying at Pineapple Place resort and it was GREAT. Beautiful Key West style, rooms were immaculate, guest book included everything you needed to know and more, including best local restaurants, entertainment, the whole nine yards. Even provided beach chairs and pool toys. Pool was crystal cleaned every day. Made for a great vacation. Owner even meets you when you arrive at your room and walks you through the property so you know where everything is.

It was a short walk to the beautiful beaches, area is quiet but a short drive to just about everything you would want to get to. Nearby Tiki Bar on the beach perfect way to end the day. Close to I-95 to get to business meetings.

Fabulous Stay –

My husband and I travel a lot (him on business and me along for the “ride”), and for the last year and a half we’ve discovered how much better it is to stay in vacation rentals instead of hotels. So far, Pineapple Place is the best we’ve found by far, and we will be back. We found it to be extremely clean and well cared for.

The owner met us on arrival since they say they do not have a traditional check-in. Their office is five minutes away at the town center, but each apartment has a keyless entry system so that our door was programmed before our arrival with a code that we gave them (we loved having our own code and no keys). We could have let ourselves in, but she came to greet us to show us around and get us settled in, which made us feel very welcome.

The kitchen had everything expected and more (stuff like a pizza slicer, lots of utensils, storage containers for left-overs and high end pots and pans, attractive dishes). She also had all kinds of cleaning products and a box of kitchen garbage bags under the kitchen sink so that we did not have to go out and buy all that for our five night stay. The only thing they said we needed to purchase when we bought our groceries was enough toilet paper for the rest of our stay (they started us off with two rolls). There was no dishwasher…but we really didn’t need one (that’s why I have my husband)!

We felt more than comfortable with other things that were supplied like books, magazines, puzzles and games, stereo system and a DVD so we could rent movies. We found high-quality beach chairs and plenty of beach towels in the apartment, and bought a cheap beach umbrella at the nearby Walgreens, which we left in the apartment for the next guests (although you could rent umbrellas from the concessionaire on the beach). My husband absolutely has to have wireless Internet when we travel, which was provided for free here.

The king bed was firm and comfortable, the furniture was pretty and in good condition and the apartment was roomy. The bathroom was mostly updated. It still had an old-style vanity but it was in pristine condition so I guess they didn’t need to change it out. We loved the bar-be-que and pool deck and well kept gardens. A maintenance person came out right away to change the propane in the grill when we called to say it had run out (we used it a lot), and he was very friendly and asked if there was anything else we needed.

It was a small, quiet place near the beach with other nice guests and everything we needed. My husband could do his work and I found plenty of “vacation” things to do nearby while he was at meetings. We would recommend this place to anyone.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2008

We just spent a week at Pineapple Place Apartments in Pompano Beach, Florida.

First let me say that this isn't really an "apartment", but is actually an old motel that has been updated a bit and now rents weekly and monthly. We rented Unit 4.

The place has 1 bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen and living room. The space is quite nice, tile floors etc. The kitchen is decently stocked with dishes, cookware and utensils, but nothing else other than salt. Outside there is a pool and patio area and a barbeque, which we used almost every night. The grounds seem decently cared for.

Our first impression of the place came before we even left for our vacation. We had booked a different place for this vacation, owned by the same company, several months prior. A few days before we were scheduled to leave,we were contacted by the company and asked if we would like to be "upgraded" to a one bedroom "apartment" instead of the studio cottage that we had reserved. They stated that they had a "scheduling problem ". We told them that we would prefer to stick with the place we had rented but would move to the other place if necessary. (It was a few days before we were to leave, too late to find another place)

The place is old, has been fixed up a bit, but not very well and there are a lot of things that are still very old, namely, the bathroom! The hot water tank is very small and we couldn't shower after washing dishes without it being only lukewarm.

We found dirty dishes in the cupboards, and the place wasn't very clean. The phone didn't work at all. The couch is stained as were the sheets on the bed. They said that they supply laundry detergent and fabric softener in the laundry room, but the detergent was empty the second day and never replaced. The tub in the bathroom has been updated with a tub liner, but water is trapped underneath so when you move around you feel water sloshing around under your feet. I found it put me off balance.

The place is non smoking, so people in other units smoke outside. I don't know why, but our unit always smelled like cigarette smoke even when the windows were closed, it somehow gets sucked in.

They supply a decent number of towels etc but state that you are responsible for washing all but what you use on the morning you leave. Also, they expect you to clean the place, even though they charge an exit cleaning fee. They also told us that we were expected to replace anything we used such as paper towel, toilet paper and Kleenex. "Guests agree to keep their unit clean during the lease period and, upon departure, to wash and put away dirty dishes, put out their garbage, wash all sheets and towels except those used on the morning of departure, and leave the apartment in broom-swept condition."

I understand there being no maid service, and if you run out of towels, wash some, but I didn't appreciate having to spend my last day on vacation doing laundry and cleaning!

To summarize, we had a good time, the place wasn't the worst I've seen, but i wouldn't stay here again, and wouldn't recomend it.
