“Loved Palm-Aire Resort!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2007

We got back from our Ft. Lauderdale trip about a month ago! We miss it already. We stayed at the Palm-Aire Resort using our points. We have 2 children 6 years and 2 years and they had a blast. The staff at Palm Aire was very friendly. Gave us great tips on restaurants in the area and sights to see.
They have a great little playground perfect for our 2 year old. And they loved the pool! (Don't let the picture fool you. The pool does not look that big in person.) Food shopping was very easy to do. Great Walmart almost across the street. Area was perfectly safe despite some of the reviews! We rented a car for the week and got around very easily. We drove to the sister resort for the beach. One of the afternoons we were very lucky to see 1 of 3 manitees swim through waist deep water along the shore! The hubby and I had a great time on a date night to the Hard Rock Casino! We got home and realized that my hubby forgot his wallet in the room safe and the staff was very very helpful! They sent security to retrieve the wallet and sent it next day air by UPS. We were very impressed!
We'll definitely be back!

We just spent a week at the Palm Aire--we have two children ages 2 and 5. Check-in didn't take very long and the desk personnel were very friendly. We were pleased with our accomodations: two bedroom condo, but the room smelled very smokey. When we complained they offered to give us another room or send up an air purifier. We chose the latter because our room location was great--the purifier arrived in a matter of minutes. The kitchen was clean and fully furnished including dish soap, dishwasher soap, and paper towels. The beds were fine and the master bathroom was huge!!! We all enjoyed the whirlpool tub! We also enjoyed the free parking and beach access at the sister resort. There is a Super Walmart a block away--that was very convenient! The only problem we had was when we agreed to listen to the time-share pitch. It took forever!!!!! (about two-and-a-half hours!) I would recommend people just say "no thanks" to that! The pool was the best part--there was a nice children's pool as well as a main pool with zero entry and a few fountains for the kids to play in. We would definitely stay at the Palm Aire again!

  • Liked — the pool was a hit with the kids--I enjoyed the size of the rooms
  • Disliked — the time share presentation

After reading the reviews, I was afraid to stay here, especially in the Areca bldg. Well the reviews were correct about check in, they said we were over booked and we didn't have a room, then they found us a room in the Areca bldg, but I didn't want to stay there, but they let us look at the room first, well when we went in, luggage was already in the room. Went back to Check In spoke to a manager and then next thing you new, we had a 2 bedroom condo in the Sable Bldg. The Areca bldg was just fine, nothing wrong with it at all. The whole grounds of this resort was beautiful. Staff was friendly and if you read the welcome info they gave you, you knew about the towel exchange on Wednesday, and the pool towels were available every day around 10:30 so whether you used the pool or not you could just get a towel and use it for later. Very kid friendly plenty of kids activities, plus they had a 18 hole miniture golf course, play ground for the kids, volley ball, & tennis courts. The location was good, easy access to 95 and the FL turnpike. 20 minutes from Miami and 40 minutes from Palm Beach. This resort was well cleaned, well kept us and a great place to stay. I can't wait to go back. They asked us to take a survey, I said no not interested and that was the end of it, no pressure at all. We used the parking lot of the sister hotels and walked the beach, clear water, white sand wonderful! I highly recommend staying at this resort. Trust me I know a good place when I see one. I've been to many resorts and this is best for the money I've seen in a long time.

The rooms were the cleanest we have ever seen in Fairfield/Wyndam resorts. They are trying to get some coveted customer award, so they were really trying hard to help with anything that was requested. They do need to provide a better explanation as to how the towel exchange works on Wednesdays. The concierge team was great, gave directions and good coupons to area restaurants and attractions.
On the resort it was wonderful, but surrounding area had a lot of panhandlers. I'm from Dallas and have never been approached 5 times in 3 hours (twice when filled up the car).

The customer service was not that great. They will only provide towels at the pool during the day. At night you need to hike over to registration for towels. Not worth the hassle. They have one little water slide that is only open a couple of hours a day. The pool side bar closes at ten p.m. No restaurants on site. The golf course I played was not kept up very well. However, the rooms were very nice and clean. If you are looking for seclusion from heavy traffic noise, you will not find it here.

We stayed in the Areca building and the furniture and carpeting were dated and dirty. The most frustrating part of the stay though was the lack of customer service -- all the way up to the General Management. Specifically, there were several occasions where we needed towels (pool and bath exchange) and the front desk did not provide any solutions, and actually appeared indifferent to the requests. The resort also advertised high speed internet access in the rooms. This is false advertising as the signal strength is low or nonexistent from the rooms. I called Guest Services on this matter three times without ever achieving any resolution. On my first two calls I was told to call the company that provided the service, which resulted in a recommendation to walk around the property until I found a strong signal. On my third call to Guest Services I asked to have a manager call me and (to no surprise) I never received a return call (they had four days to return my call).

OBSERVATIONS
1.Security gate open two nights. North/East gate across from Ruby Tuesday’s would not close. I called guest services each night and they acted indignant and insulting that I would be concerned for my families or vehicles safety. On the second night, after a second call and a request to speak to the manager, the gate was repaired a few hours later.
2.Disposal clogged with plastic toys and would not work. After a call for maintenance, they were right up.
3.After accidentally breaking a measuring cup, there was no broom, only a dust pan. We picked up the pieces by hand and intended to vacuum the small shards but the vacuum did not work. There was a short in the power cord. After calling for housekeeping, they did not replace the dangerous vacuum, they just got it working with the still loose and dangerous power cord. The vacuum was filthy and required 10 minutes of care to remove the garbage from the roller.
4.The air conditioning would not cool properly. The grate for air intake was full of dust and other debris. They finally came and cleaned the grate but the operation of the A/C was still very inconsistent.
5.Carpeting stained in places around living room and by kitchenette.
Carpet reeked of booze and cigarettes when the temp got over 80 degrees.
6.Front and balcony door locks did not work until a call for maintenance was made.
7.Screens either missing or bent to allow bugs to enter unit in both bedrooms.
8.No kitchen towels after the first one. Was forced to use bath hand towels.
9.Very frequently there were no towels in pool area. Even before 2pm.
10.One phone did not work. Only a busy signal each time we tried to use it.
11.View from our balcony was of a murder investigation dumpster complete with crime tape and garbage all over. Yes we could look away to the right but that only gave us a view of a gas station with crime bars on the windows and doors, with a bum hanging out daily behind. We were frequently given the opportunity to see patrons of the station who were too hurried to wait for the bathroom, urinate in full view of my family.
Good Points
1.Bartender Phillip when asked if we could get a net for the ping-pong table (it was taken by a wonderful guest we believe) was very genuinely and pleasant helpful without concern for a gratuity.
2.Maintenance men came quickly when given our message of needs.
3.Time share host that gave us a tour of the resort did a great job. Unfortunately, this was after three days of problems in our unit.

Generally we were very disappointed. We would consider another Wyndam property on the beach but never again at Palm Aire.
