“No washer/dryer”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Beware! We booked this hotel for 1 reason only the booking said it had a washer dryer in unit ; we had a 2 bedroom unit they stuck us in the royal palm building probably built before cranes were discovered.... Room was ok not great but the granite makes it feel nicer than it is. My wife has a phobia of first floor rooms we asked to have a higher unit and they said they were completely sold out! I hardly believe it since the parking lots were only 1/4 full. The staff called on day 2 to ask how our stay was I said we can't find the washer/dryer the lady responded that some have them some don't and that I could find the units at the end of the hall, it may be petty but we were traveling with a baby and we had to attend conferences during the day in palm beach can't exactly put in a load and leave. Staff could care less that this is why we booked the room we could have just booked the embassy closer to where we needed to be this being the case and cooked to order free breakfast wish we would have done that.

This was my second trip to Palm Aire and I wasn't disappointed! Our unit (Areca Palm #762 -- 2 bed, 2 bath) was fabulous! Spectacular balcony with beautiful sunsets. Multiple pools allow for fun activities or smaller, peaceful options. On site fitness center, spa. Surrounding residential neighborhood is great for morning walks. Location is excellent for other attractions, restaurants and shopping.

Already looking forward to next year's visit!

After booking our RCI exchange here, I read some horrible reviews of problems with ants, crumbling plaster and noise. We were thrilled to find our 2 bedroom unit very nice, spacious, newly renovated, clean and on our 7th level floor reasonably quite. It is next door to fire station, but the sirens were not overly loud in our unit. Location is convenient to surrounding areas but you definately need a car to enjoy the area.

Room Tip: Ask for level above 6th floor do to sirens from fires station

We stayed for 10 nights in a 2 bed/2bath presidential unit with flat screen TVs - which were perfect for the football playoffs. Kitchen had all utensils except a small Teflon frying pan (I always bring one anyway). They did supply tiny salt and pepper shakers. Wallmart and Winn Dixie are very close by. Furniture is a little dated. Resort sponsors activities the ones we participated in we're: all you can eat taco night (very good for ~ $8), karaoke night, bingo, black jack, Texas hold em ( $10 buy in with reservation), 50's music night with grilled hamburger +float ($5), stretching class. Exercise room is adequit, There is a spa and salon on site (not owned by Wyndham). We were on the 10th floor, the balcony had a nice view of the pool and the surrounding area. Staff was very cheerful and helpful. If we come to Fort Lauderdale again we would come here again

Room Tip: Ask for what you want, ie higher level, lower level, pool side view (or not), balcony (though I thin...

We have stayed at many Wyndham vacation resort properties, and enjoyed all of them...until this one. Absolutely the worst vacation stay we've every had. I can mention the little things that make a difference for families like: (1) Music and Karaoke till past 11 PM loud enough to keep parents awake, let alone the kids. (2) Asking for laundry soap that is supposed to be provided on Monday evening, Tuesday at 8:30 PM, Tuesday at 9:30 PM, and then awakened at 11:04 PM on Tuesday by a phone call that housekeeping is on their way up (3) Employees smoking in the service room right next to our Condo, so the smoke crept into our condo...EVERY DAY we were in that room. So then we'll get to the BIG problem...BED BUGS in the room. And the 50 + welts on my wife's body will attribute to them, not to mention the fact that I caught two live bed bugs. When I went to report this to the management, Monique Cooper just rolled her eyes at me...until I showed her what was in the zip-lock bag. Delondo Lemon and David Ebanks were no help either. They worked on getting all of our clothes and suitcases dry cleaned to assure the bed bugs were dead...but we found out they didn't dry clean the shoes...those were dryed in their high heat condo dryers. This damanged (for example, melted flip-flops) many shoes, and we ended up losing one shoe...no idea where that one is to this day. We were told we would be reimbursed for the cost of replacing the shoes. Receipts were mailed to Delondo Lemon, and you guessed it...no money reimbursement. We were moved to an open condo for the rest of our stay. That was curious to me because when we complained about the smell of smoke in our condo (See smokers above), we were told there were no opennings anywhere else...LIARS. And what bothered me the most, and was written in a complaint letter to Delondo Lemon as Guest Services Manager is this: NOT ONE PERSON ever asked about my wife's bite marks on her body. They were more concerned about the reputation of the condo, keeping this quiet from other guests, and the bottom line of costs of fixing the situation than the actual people in the resort. That tells me all about these managers as individuals. Don't go to this condo, and if you see any of these names as a manager, don't go to that condo either.

We are staying here for a week- we are a couple with youngish kids. The apartments themselves are quite nice and decent value. About $250 a night for a 2 bedroom apartment. The master bedroom contains the bed, beautiful jacuzzi and a shower, unfortunately there is no door or partition between the bedroom section and the bathroom section which might be considered romantic to some but very weird and uncomfortable to me.

We had called ahead on the day of our check in and asked if we could be roomed close to our friends who are staying at the same hotel. We arrived at 3am, and not only did they not place us close to our friends, they put us in a different building.

When we checked in we asked that we not receive any calls from the hotel before 10am due to our late arrival. of course at 9am we get woken up by a call from concierge to invite us to a timeshare presentation.

once we were given a key we were left to make our own way to our room which was in a different building to the check in desk. The buildings are not signed so you have to try and follow a map to find your apartment and at 3am when you are exhausted and the property is dark, this is not easy at all.

then came the piece de resistance. the next day we went swimming at the hotel pool. we all got out of the pool to eat lunch and used the pool towels that were in our room to dry off. after lunch we went back into the pool and thats where things really went wrong. I got out the pool and went to the front desk to ask how I could get more towels for my family as the first batch were still wet. i was told i had to take the wet towels back to my room and then call housekeeping and ask them to substitute the wet towels for new ones. very well, i made the 7 minute walk back to my room and called housekeeping. no response. i called the front desk. no response. i called about during the course 15 minutes. no response. so i went back to conceirge and asked for their assistance. the manager called housekeeping and ordered them to bring towels to him within 2 minutes. approximately 20 minutes later they showed up with towels.
I would never stay here again because getting hold of towels is a one hour ordeal.

It was just fine for our needs. We had two huge bedrooms, two huge bathrooms, a great kitchen, and a washer and dryer. We were there for a week with our two kids (both 10). We swapped an RCI for a great exchange rate. We could have stayed on the beach in a one bedroom, but we wanted the extra room. We are happy with that decision.
The resort was about 10 minutes from the beach. It was an easy drive. We drove and parked at the Royal Vista, the sister resort, almost every day. There was always parking, even though the resort offered a free shuttle. We also swam in the Royal Vista pool. It looks like a nicer resort, but we liked the pool at Palm Aire better and there were NO kids at Royal Vista. The Palm Aire is definitely suited better for families- more room for your money, water slide, fun activities, etc.

The first room we checked into smelled like smoke. It was bad. So even though it was really late, we insisted they switch us. They moved us next door and brought the keys right to us. It was just fine and I appreciate how they remedied the situation. This is a non-smoking place. Don't smoke!!!

The resort is in an odd location. It's next door to a golf course, across the street from the horse racing track, and close to the interstate. However, it was actually really quiet. The only outside noise we heard (with the doors closed) were the ambulances and fire trucks. There must be a fire station around the corner. It wasn't bad though. We never heard noise from the hallway. Ever. It could be that most of the guests are elderly. :)

The room was clean, like any hotel room. The bed was uncomfortable and the mattress needs to be replaced, or at least flipped, but the sheets and duvet were fine. It felt like a Wyndham or Hampton hotel as far as cleanliness. It was just fine. Not anything great, but totally acceptable.

There is a Winn Dixie, McDonalds, a Greek place, an Italian place (with good pizza- Rotellis i think), a CVS, and. WalMart all within walking distance (a block). We ended up buying laundry detergent, water (the water here is awful, we are used to well water), coffee, and shampoo and conditioner, in addition to food. They supplied enough of the other essentials, like dish washing soap.

The activities are mediocre, but provide something to do when you are too tired to go out. Most of them cost money. The best free night was when they had the hula dancers. Nothing grand, but it was entertaining. The pool is great and it's nice that is is between the buildings because it is in the shade for much of the day. We were fried after being at the beach.

For a good, local sandwich when you are near the beach, eat at Under the Sun Subs near the corner of Atlantic and Ocean. If you venture west on Atlantic, La Granja is GREAT. It doesn't look great, but it is. It's Peruvian food. We got a whole chicken and three sides (including their delicious arepas) for $18. Seriously. It fed four of us. They have ceviche on the weekends.

All in all, it was a good stay.

The ONLY truly obnoxious part was the sales staff. We realize this is a timeshare and we know the drill. We were not interested in "earning" anything on this trip. We were busy visiting friends. My husband made that very clear to the woman when he got our "welcome packet." So the next day the phone rings, at dinner time no less, and it's the same woman trying to talk us into coming AGAIN to a sales pitch. She was really pushy this time. It was very disappointing and unprofessional. Other than that, the staff was extremely friendly, especially the check in staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a two room "deluxe" in the Sable building.
