“Let down by stupid pettyness”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

We are staying here for a week- we are a couple with youngish kids. The apartments themselves are quite nice and decent value. About $250 a night for a 2 bedroom apartment. The master bedroom contains the bed, beautiful jacuzzi and a shower, unfortunately there is no door or partition between the bedroom section and the bathroom section which might be considered romantic to some but very weird and uncomfortable to me.

We had called ahead on the day of our check in and asked if we could be roomed close to our friends who are staying at the same hotel. We arrived at 3am, and not only did they not place us close to our friends, they put us in a different building.

When we checked in we asked that we not receive any calls from the hotel before 10am due to our late arrival. of course at 9am we get woken up by a call from concierge to invite us to a timeshare presentation.

once we were given a key we were left to make our own way to our room which was in a different building to the check in desk. The buildings are not signed so you have to try and follow a map to find your apartment and at 3am when you are exhausted and the property is dark, this is not easy at all.

then came the piece de resistance. the next day we went swimming at the hotel pool. we all got out of the pool to eat lunch and used the pool towels that were in our room to dry off. after lunch we went back into the pool and thats where things really went wrong. I got out the pool and went to the front desk to ask how I could get more towels for my family as the first batch were still wet. i was told i had to take the wet towels back to my room and then call housekeeping and ask them to substitute the wet towels for new ones. very well, i made the 7 minute walk back to my room and called housekeeping. no response. i called the front desk. no response. i called about during the course 15 minutes. no response. so i went back to conceirge and asked for their assistance. the manager called housekeeping and ordered them to bring towels to him within 2 minutes. approximately 20 minutes later they showed up with towels.
I would never stay here again because getting hold of towels is a one hour ordeal.

“Good family vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

It was just fine for our needs. We had two huge bedrooms, two huge bathrooms, a great kitchen, and a washer and dryer. We were there for a week with our two kids (both 10). We swapped an RCI for a great exchange rate. We could have stayed on the beach in a one bedroom, but we wanted the extra room. We are happy with that decision.
The resort was about 10 minutes from the beach. It was an easy drive. We drove and parked at the Royal Vista, the sister resort, almost every day. There was always parking, even though the resort offered a free shuttle. We also swam in the Royal Vista pool. It looks like a nicer resort, but we liked the pool at Palm Aire better and there were NO kids at Royal Vista. The Palm Aire is definitely suited better for families- more room for your money, water slide, fun activities, etc.

The first room we checked into smelled like smoke. It was bad. So even though it was really late, we insisted they switch us. They moved us next door and brought the keys right to us. It was just fine and I appreciate how they remedied the situation. This is a non-smoking place. Don't smoke!!!

The resort is in an odd location. It's next door to a golf course, across the street from the horse racing track, and close to the interstate. However, it was actually really quiet. The only outside noise we heard (with the doors closed) were the ambulances and fire trucks. There must be a fire station around the corner. It wasn't bad though. We never heard noise from the hallway. Ever. It could be that most of the guests are elderly. :)

The room was clean, like any hotel room. The bed was uncomfortable and the mattress needs to be replaced, or at least flipped, but the sheets and duvet were fine. It felt like a Wyndham or Hampton hotel as far as cleanliness. It was just fine. Not anything great, but totally acceptable.

There is a Winn Dixie, McDonalds, a Greek place, an Italian place (with good pizza- Rotellis i think), a CVS, and. WalMart all within walking distance (a block). We ended up buying laundry detergent, water (the water here is awful, we are used to well water), coffee, and shampoo and conditioner, in addition to food. They supplied enough of the other essentials, like dish washing soap.

The activities are mediocre, but provide something to do when you are too tired to go out. Most of them cost money. The best free night was when they had the hula dancers. Nothing grand, but it was entertaining. The pool is great and it's nice that is is between the buildings because it is in the shade for much of the day. We were fried after being at the beach.

For a good, local sandwich when you are near the beach, eat at Under the Sun Subs near the corner of Atlantic and Ocean. If you venture west on Atlantic, La Granja is GREAT. It doesn't look great, but it is. It's Peruvian food. We got a whole chicken and three sides (including their delicious arepas) for $18. Seriously. It fed four of us. They have ceviche on the weekends.

All in all, it was a good stay.

The ONLY truly obnoxious part was the sales staff. We realize this is a timeshare and we know the drill. We were not interested in "earning" anything on this trip. We were busy visiting friends. My husband made that very clear to the woman when he got our "welcome packet." So the next day the phone rings, at dinner time no less, and it's the same woman trying to talk us into coming AGAIN to a sales pitch. She was really pushy this time. It was very disappointing and unprofessional. Other than that, the staff was extremely friendly, especially the check in staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a two room "deluxe" in the Sable building.

“Very nice family resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Stay was 1/4-1/11. Staff was nice. Requested pool view and received. Beautiful 2 bedroom with porch. Pool temps were very comfortable. Attended the time share talk (actually a points system) A very good product. If interested in vacation ownership, I would find out more about it.
Need a car. Plenty of stuff nearby, but a restaurant on site would have been nice.
Would go back

Room Tip: ask for a pool view.

“Flood on First Night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

The first night we arrived a pipe broke and three stories flooded. We were moved, and everything went fine. However, we liked the first room first. When I swam, there was weird debris in the pool. There is only a little cafe on site, but so many options nearby, and a kitchen, so that was OK. It's right across from Isle Casino and Pompano Park for horse racing. It's not more than 20 minutes from the beach at Pompano, or Fort Lauderdale. The phone in my room didn't work, but service was timely. They have a shuttle that can take you, by appointment, to one of the Wyndham hotel by the beach. This works very well and gives you access to private beaches with all the amenities you would expect, like a bar, covered on beach seating, watercraft rental, etc.

Room Tip: The newest building in the back is closest to nearby dining and grocery stores.

“Good place, pushy staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013 via mobile

My husband, parents and I stayed in two units here at the start of 2013. Driving up to it, I was a little apprehensive due to some of the near-by areas but the site itself is great.

It consists of multiple buildings, 4 pools, tennis court, mini golf and a sandy volleyball court. There is a spa in one building and a small cafe/bar in between. The units are really spacious - the one bedroom had two full bathrooms along with the standard kitchen, laundry etc. The pool was a great tempature for January, and the resort had daily activities.

The cafe wasn't that great - wouldn't go back, but it's close to Walmart, CVS and Winn Dixie along with some restaurants and bars. The main Pompano Beach area isn't far - maybe 10-15 minute drive and the resort has a shuttle to a sister property for beach access.

The staff and showerhead are my only complaints. The staff are very pushy about having you go to timeshare "breakfasts" etc to try and sell you on them. The one appointed to us for our 2 day stay actually got annoyed when I said no and said "This is my only job". I'm sorry but this is my vacation - a two day stay at that - I had no interest in the presentation or giveaways they try and bribe you with. Just a warning they are very pushy.

The shown heads were also awful... Really bad water pressure, it was more like a faucet in tems of how the water came out, not an shower head. Other then that, great place would go back.
