“Lush property in a big city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

The hotel property was very lush and well maintained and gave you a remote resort feel even though you are in the heart of a big city. The property is located about 15 minutes from the beach. It's a great location near all kinds of shopping, and across the street from the Isle Casino. Guests here can also share privileges at the other 3 Wyndham properties along the beach, but this property has the best amenities of them all, most likely since it is not located off A1A near the beach. I still would pick this site over the others due to the amenities.

Amenties - Beautiful lush landscape and fountains, spacious pools, multiple hot tubs, cafe open for lunch, pool bar, on-site spa and first rate gym, live music on the weekends - local cover band Sekond Nature had one guy on an acoustic guitar perform and he was very good. Activities provided daily -- only thing we participated in was an afternoon ice cream social at the Activity Center. Decent ice cream sundaes, probably better off just getting ice cream at the Cafe since more flavors available there. Stick to the basics at the Cafe. Hamburger and fries were good, but their taco night was terrible -- leftovers from previous nights with stale chips, dry meat, crusty nacho cheese after re-heating it too many times.

Concierge - Typical timeshare elbow twisting. They told us that we should go to the 60 minute talk to hear about the RCI transfer rates of Wyndham points to be going away -- not true.... The timeshare sell is still the hard sell to get you there. Avoid if at all possible. Nothing was really gained by going....

Did I say I loved the pools? :o) Very nice....

Suite of rooms - Very nicely done, recently remodeled, VERY comfy soft beds, better than most places I have stayed, stone kitchen countertops, whirlpool in master suite (didn't use it while there).

Pompano Beach - Even with Hurricane Sandy having passed thru right before arriving, the beaches were very nice. The area has recently been renovated with beautiful landscaping, street lighting, pavers, new restrooms. Note that several of the facilities are locked, don't know why, so make sure to pick your beach area accordingly. I would prefer just parking for free at Whyndam Royal Vista and using the beach in front of that property.

Isle Casino - only has slots and poker. They do have a roulette/craps slots table that uses real dice and real roulette table with machines to place your bets. Pretty cool. Casino is very nice inside with a great deli that has a full extensive menu. Never got to try the buffet. Whole casino is non-smoking which was awesome.

Definitely would stay here again!

Room Tip: We stayed in the high rise towers rather than the 3 floor building connected to the front desk. I t...

Stayed here for a week in September... 2 bedroom suite.

While the beds were comfortable, and the bedding nice and updated, the bathrooms were a little dated... a bit 90s. They are however doing some work on the towers, so maybe this will improve.

The whole area looks like an area built up in the 80s. The closest thing to entertainment in the area is a horse race place/casino nearby. There is a bit of shopping near by, but there is no beach! Interesting location for a resort hotel, no beach, just strip malls! I suppose if you JUST hang out at the pool, then this place would be fine for you...

I didn't find that many activities to do while there, and the "nearby" golf course is VERY 80s, with a ramshackle clubhouse. In fact, they are taking out some golf holes to make a lake?!!!

tyhe bad part is that they always harass you about joining the time share aspect of this place. and in order to get your parking pass, you have to talk to a "concierge", which is basically a sales girl, hoping to sell you a time share! this concierge is also a thinly veiled sales job for local restaurants/clubs, where clearly they are getting kick backs!

Overall, OK...

We are staying with family this week in their time share here. We have a large 2 bedroom with spacious living room, kitchenette and dining area. One bedroom with hot tub. There are 2 pools. One with wading area, water slide and separate kiddie pool. On other side is a lovely quiet pool. We played miniature golf, billiards and many games in activity center to take on loan to room. Specials each day for lunch, ice cream etc. Schedules daily for different entertainment, some at nominal cost. Staff is friendly and attentive. Members of time share can invite others, as we are the guests.
Although not near beach, we are able to go to sister property, Royal Palm the crown jewel of Wyndham in Pompano. Another property here is Santa Barbara. We are enjoying our vacation with my sister and brother in law.

This property is a good place to stay with your family. Nice spacious rooms. Pool area is good for kids and family, definitely not Miami Beach or Vegas style pool activities.

Need a car to get anywhere, plenty of restaurants nearby but you need to drive to them.

As of October 2012 they are expanding the golf course associated with the property, so for a while you will see construction and large pile of sand and dirt from the pool area located behind the recption building

Room Tip: If a view is important to you, the best one you can ask for is a pool facing room

We checked in 9-29-12, 7 of us with my 88 year old great grandma, the room looked nice but smelled strong of chemicals,we left and went out to dinner, came back went to bed and i woke to itching and sand fleas jumping on me.I tried to go to the balcony for relief it was infested with red ants as was the kitchen. I went to the office who sent an engineer?? Who said i was allergic to the cleaning solution they use, meanwhile others had bites. They moved us to a new room same building as the maid told us are room had a service dog the week before and they were having a bad sand flea problem. We left again for the day, came back, same thing, this time i woke with swollen eyes and hands, with bites and hives, i couldnt breathe, my family called an ambulance, and we left as soon as our company could move us, with no help from this resort

Room Tip: dont go here in my building everyone i met saw ants, others said it smelled of bug killer, they seem...

Just got back last night from a week at the Wyndam Palm Aire in Pompano Beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Lisa at the bar. Many of them seemed to be new so don't know if they have had a large turnover in staff or not. We thought it was a very nice property, with multiple pools and hot tubs, multiple buildings, lovely vegetation, a small lake, and a fair number of birds.
One of the pools had a water slide and a kids area, while the other main pool somewhat removed thereby making it a quieter area. The third pool was hidden off behind the main building and much smaller, and so didn't seem to be used much.
Have read on here somewhere that the pools were unheated, but the one I was in on Thursday definitely had some heated water being pumped in. This property is five miles from the beach, but they supply a daily shuttle leaving at 9:30, returning at 2:30. We had a rental car so had no need of the shuttle. With our Wyndam parking pass, we had free use of the Wyndam hotels on or near the beach, which was really convenient. I preferred to pay a little for parking over at the fishing pier as I liked that part of the beach, just because of the pier.
Yes, there was pressure to attend a sales pitch but it appeared to be pretty easy to say no.
The unit we had was huge, large living room, massive bedroom with a large jacuzzi tub, two bathrooms - one with a very large, glass-enclosed shower - and an efficiently-sized kitchen, complete with all the appliances and utensils you could need. The property is somewhat older which shows up in some interesting ways. For example, the bathroom fans are incredibly noisy. Obviously Wyndam is trying to save some expenses on energy as low-energy use light bulbs are everywhere. Some of which took an incredibly long time to light up. We found the property well maintained and very clean. A lot of the clientele were either young families with children or retired couples. Not really a party place.
We did a lot of traveling around the area, and the Palm Aire is well situated, close to the highways making it easy to get off in any direction.
There seemed to be lots of activity every day with crafts, fitness classes and the occasional ice cream sundae bar.
While in Pompano Beach we took a couple tours, one being the Jungle Queen dinner cruise up the New River. Beautiful trip up the river, with commentary about who owns some of the huge mansions along the river. The meal was excellent. We could have done without the cheesy variety show, but even it provided some laughs. The other tour we took was an airboat ride in the Everglades from Everglades Holiday Park. Trey was a good guide and it was a decent trip. Probably get to go further into the Everglades if you travel further from Fort Lauderdale, but it was well worth the price of admission.
All in all a great week, and we would consider staying at the Palm Aire again.

I traded into this RCI resort - the resort itself is clean, and the units large, the staff was nice - beyond that it was dissappointing. We had a 2 bed - 2 bath place that was spacious. The resort is located in an industrial area with nothing of interest for less than a 20 minute drive. It was 20 minutes in morning traffic just to get to Starbucks. The area is depressed with only tired chain restaurants like Denny's, Wendy's, IHOP, etc around. The resort was practically empty in September and there was really nothing to do. The best thing was that by staying here you could go and use the Royal Vista beach access for free which was nice (20 min drive). The resort description said Washer and Dryer in every unit but there was "access" on the floor rather than in-unit. The restaurant on-site was more like small office cafeteria with a single meal served each night. There was no maid service for the week - not even to take out garbage or trade towels. There was no towel service at the pool. The air-conditioners were very loud when on and the room would smell mouldy if they were off. The elevator to our tower was broken for two days while we were there. I won't recommend the trip to friends or return.

Room Tip: Ask for pool facing with a large balcony. - Better yet stay elsewhere - Royal Vista definitely wort...
