This hotel has some good points and many not so good points. We stayed there pre-cruise for one night - family of 5. The rooms are small and crowded with furniture. Getting a rollaway in there was not easy and then add to that all the cruise luggage and there was hardly room to move around.
The air conditioner leaked in our first room and the carpet in front of it was drenched. Didn't notice that until we had luggage on top of the area so the luggage got a little soggy. Moved us to another room and it was dry in front of the air conditioner. Unfortunately, by morning the carpet was again drenched in front of the unit. Something to keep in mind when placing your luggage in those rooms!
The staff seemed fairly nice, if not overly helpful. The breakfast was very good and had hot selections. The pool is wonderful and is big and a very inviting area. The hotel was also very quiet.
The business room with three internet computers was full for hours with teenagers playing on the computers. We needed to write a quick email to let everyone at home know we were ok, so had to get a desk worker to do something after about 3 hours of waiting. There is a window from the computer area to the front desk so you would think they would have noticed that teenagers were monopolizing the room for hours on end. The next morning when we went to check the computer for weather etc, our log on code did not work. Asked at the desk and the gentleman there could not give us another code - didn't know how! Luckily, there was one computer working that another lady was using so she graciously let us use that computer or we would have been out of luck.
The location of this hotel is fine. Near the mall and there is a Target down the way but definitely a good walk. We used the shuttle service to the port and it was good and took about 15 minutes or so for the drive. When we disembarked after our cruise, we called at 7:45am and they said the driver would leave at 8am. Waited until 8:30, then called again and they said he just left 5 minutes before! So we were at the port until 8:45am waiting for pickup. He should have been there by 8:15am or very close to it. Something else to keep in mind if you are on a schedule.
We left our car there for the week and asked beforehand where we should park. We were told to park facing the breakfast room. When we got back, our car was surrounded by yellow tape and the only car in that area as they had spent the week powerwashing the side of the building! Our car was covered with sediment but thankfully no damage. Surely someone should have notified the front desk so no one would park there.
I had high hopes for this place after reading the reviews but would not stay there again. Maybe ok for two people - the rooms are just too small for families. Also, watch were you leave your car!
