I had always wondered about Hyatt, and their lack of a business/modern concept, but I think they finally have a winner with this place.

The Hyatt Place Plantation is certainly not in downtown, but it doesn't have to be. Just a 10 minute drive from the airport, the location puts you out of all that noise, and in a quiet office park, which might be an upgrade from the noisy A1A spring-break crowd. Close to a mall, but I wasn't familiar with the area to know much else.

The design is very casual/modern, with emphasis on technology, from free wifi throughout, to the plasma TV that you can watch from bed or the living area. Unlike a lot of hotels who don't get it right, Hyatt had all the right touches here, from upgraded softer bath towels, to an awesome lounge-sofa and wet-bar, all for what I'd pay for a much less-impressive and arguably, bland-styled Courtyard. Nice colors and finishes throughout the hotel are the right design for this place...comfortable, yet modern and sophisticated. Not a corporate-boring hotel, more stylish like a W.

Free breakfast had truly healthy options, with Starbucks coffee, and a helpful staff. The lobby is conducive to a quick meeting, or just a place to hang out, grab a meal, and relax. Parking was ample and free.

The check-in kiosk was great, as the desk staff was occupied by some tourists, and worked flawlessly.

Only possible minus:
Giant-bathroom obsessed Americans: this hotel is not for you...done euro-style with the tub and toilet in one area, sink in the living area.

This is by far, the best business/casual format hotel I have stayed at yet. Kudos to the management and Hyatt. This place worked so well for me, I will definitely stay again!

We just stayed two nights at this hotel. The room was really big with a huge Flat TV screen that gave me the impression of being in a cinema.
The beds were great.
The location is great for the Sawgrass mall (shopping) and also it is also a short drive to Fort Lauderdale airport.
Luckily we got a promotion and this was the best hotel we could get for the price. Other hotels, will charge the same or more without giving the same comfort.

We loved our stay at this hotel. It was decorated in a chic art deco style and our room was a suite with a modern, appealing decor. It reminded me of a Miami Beach boutique hotel. We had a flat screen hi def tv, comfortable couch, great bed. We only stayed one night but I would have loved to extend our stay if it was possible. I would highly recommend this hotel for a special weekend.

We stayed here for 2 days on our way to the Bahamas. Booked through the website (requesting a crib). I chose this location since it was newly remodeled and offered food 24 hrs.

We arrived after midnight from the airport with a 1.5 yr old to find no food OR vending machines. We had to drive a few miles to find open fast food after one a.m.

They couldn't find cribs. I had called earlier in the day to confirm and ask that the crib be in our room since we were arriving late and was told it would be taken care of. We had to make due with the sofa sleeper and extra pillows they brought up. There was bag with smelly diapers left next to the ice machine (on another floor - ours had none).

The tv was great, refigerator was a great benefit. The room was small when the sofa sleeper is open. Difficult to close bathroom door without getting into the tub.

Continential breakfast was in temporary quarters. The second morning, they were running out of items and not replenshing.

Not a cheap hotel and definitely not worth the money.

“Has Potential, but Lots of Growing Pains”

Hyatt Place is a new Hyatt brand; this hotel used to be an Amerisuites
and became a Hyatt Place last year. It looks nice at first, but for a business traveler, it's really got a long way to go. They are messing up a lot of details -- especially the terrible Internet service in the hotel.

When I arrived on Saturday, the wireless Internet was spotty. It got worse from there. On Monday morning, the hotel said they had someone working on it. Tuesday NIGHT, some of us were trying to get online in the wired business center (in which the printer was broken) and ran into the help desk-type guy, who had no idea the wireless service was bad. Nobody had even told him. The service was terrible until I left Wednesday morning, which made it really hard for me to keep up to date
on what was going on at the office.

Beyond that, it was a lot of little things that betrayed their shaky beginnings:
The A/C unit was so loud that I didn't hear the clock's alarm over it one morning.
The bathroom is very badly designed -- I literally had to almost stand
in the shower to open or close the door.
Of the 4 towels I used (for 4 days of showers), 2 had huge hairs on them that weren't mine. (They were very long and black -- I have blond
hair.)
At the free breakfast, the fruit was frozen -- in Florida! Also, the hot water, while it had a weak bit of steam coming off it, was too cold to make tea. I know this only because I tried each morning and ended up only with a cup of warm water and some tea-colored water pooling in the bottom of the cup.
I received a a newspaper only 2 of 4 days, which was interesting, since at check in they tell you that you can "opt out" of the newspaper and get 75 cents back per day. I received no refund but it wasn't worth my time to complain for $1.50.

The swimming pool was small and cold (it did not appear to be actually
heated, as advertised). It also had a lot of leaves in it. The day I checked out, the hotel did not provide a room receipt under the door, which meant I had to go stand in line at the desk. I never saw more than 2 people at the desk, and it was usually just one person.

On the plus side:
Very comfortable beds
Huge flat panel TV
Good water pressure in shower
Clean room
Ample free parking
Near shopping (but about a 20 minute drive to the beach)

Overall, I think it's overpriced for all the flaws. I paid $161 per night (plus 11% tax) and expected more. The beds and TVs are nice, but
if I can't get online, I can't do my job, so none of it matters.
