I give this place 3.5 stars rounded down. What I wouldn't have given to sit outside to enjoy that view! This place is right on the water and it has a great little playscape for kids. My son would have loved it if he could have played while his family enjoyed lunch on the patio.
We ate here at lunch during a visit to see family wintering in the area. They recommended the 29 cent gumbo as an add-on to our meals--it was really good, and well worth 29 cents. Everyone had unsweet tea and didn't have to wait too long for refills. It was relatively busy and the service was a little slow overall but our server was very friendly.
I ordered the popcorn shrimp, which came with two sides. I chose fries and green beans. The fries were too crispy for my taste but the beans were good. The shrimp was good with breading that wasn't too thick. There were quite a few, and a lot of fries. My family ordered shrimp scampi, red beans and rice, corn, and cole slaw. Nothing was over the top great but the food was good, and reasonably priced.
Would I go back? Yes, but only after trying all the other good places here. To be fair, I would probably give it four stars if we would have been outside in the sunshine eating our lunch. But between ok food and ok service, it tipped me to three stars.
