My husband decided that he wanted a burger for lunch on a Sunday, but he wanted something better than average, so we opted to try The Tin Cow. We were both disappointed with the experience in general. The restaurant ambience is nice; we enjoyed our table by one of the front windows; and the sweet tea and homemade potato chips were excellent, but that's about where the kudos end. Our server was a nice guy but slow getting to us initially, probably about five or more full minutes before he came to our table to greet us, bring a menu, and take our drink orders. The restaurant wasn't full, and there were three servers that we could identify, so I'm not sure why service was so slow. Their menu has one side with items that can be ordered only "as is" with "no substitutions" and one side where you order cheeses, toppings, and condiments one by one. I just wanted a plain cheeseburger with mayo only, but it was more expensive to order this from the specialized side of the menu than it was to order the classic burger with veggies and condiments from the other side, which I think is ridiculous. This is basically charging the customer for asking to LEAVE OFF items, because asking to leave off the veggies is considered a "substitution," which I don't consider it to be. Aside from that, the fries came out cold and soggy, so the server had to get us fresh fries, and by the time we received them, we were almost finished with our burgers. The burgers themselves left a lot to be desired, in both of our opinions. They didn't taste as if they were seasoned at all, even with just salt and pepper, and since the white cheddar cheese had very little taste, I had to add ketchup three times to give the burger any taste. I know that some restaurants think that their Angus beef is so good that it doesn't need to be seasoned, but this isn't the case here. For what we paid, I would have preferred to go to a nicer restaurant and have a better meal. I like a good burger as much as the next person, but I certainly won't be itching to return anytime soon.
