We stayed there in mid June. We were there for three nights and upon our arrival our comforter had blood on it. The guy at the front desk sent up a new one but didn't want the old one. We later discovered some pink something stain on the sheets but were so tired we just went to bed.
The beach is awesome but someone charges you to rent the lounge chairs and umbrellas ($10/hr). I would recommend getting an umbrella ahead of time.
None of the days we were there our room was serviced. I had to call for new towels each day and told the desk- and nothing. When we complained upon checking out they didn't seem overly concerned and told me it wasn't in their 'book' that our room wasn't serviced and that we had received towels. (neither was the comforter).
We got one night for free even though their policy states "100 percent satisfaction guaranteed or you don't pay."
We are looking elsewhere next time.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn for 3 nights in late June, 2009. We had originally hoped to stay at the Holiday Inn Express, but we had Hhonors points to use. After much debate, we decided to stay at the Hampton over the Larger Hilton next door. We think it was the right choice for the following reasons:
1) The Hilton is huge, which means the beach directly in front seems more crowded, more time on elevators, more time getting to and from the beach, etc.
2) The Hilton has no wifi, except in the lobby. I understand that it would probably be costly to install and maintain access points throughout the structure. I understand that you're not coming to the beach to sit on your computer. BUT... if you're a techie like me, I imagine it would drive me nuts. Plus, it rains a lot in the summer.
3) The Hampton offers free breakfast, and it's pretty good. That can save HUGE money, expecially if you're here with a family.
Overall, the Hampton was very clean and updated. Our room was spotless. Housekeeping did a great job of cleaning up the sand we tracked in and keeping us stocked with clean towels. Fridge and microwave saved some money on lunch since we could bring back leftovers. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the place smells and feels clean. The bathroom was updated with granite and tile, and the water pressure was amazing. The beach outside was huge, plenty of room to spread out.
A couple of suggestions if you're staying here:
- There is a store across the street called "Tropical Waves". Walk over the first day you're here and get some beach gear. You can get a beach umbrella for $8, boogie boards for $7, towels, shirts, hats, sunscreen, etc. Great money saver.
- Walk over to "Crabs we got 'em" next door for a late dinner. Amazing views of the gulf, excellent service, excellent food, reasonable prices. Try the Vodoo Juice and you can walk (or crawl) back.
- Catch the trolley for free on the weekend. We found out the hard way that there is an East and a West trolley (written on the front). Pick accordingly.
- Driver over the bridge to Mcguire's Irish Pub. Amazing food/atmosphere/service. If you only visit one restaurant while you're here, this is the one.
We stayed at the HAMPTON INN PENSACOLA BEACH for four nights. It's a great hotel... free breakfast and hit the beach. The staff was nice. The room was beautiful and clean. The bed was comfy. The balcony facing the ocean was large enough to sit and relax on. The hotel was centrally located within walking distance of a convienience store, shopping, resturants, the pier, a game room, mini golf, a boardwalk with live music, more shopping, bars, and food. Everything you could possibly need. The beach was beautiful and the water was inviting. If you choose to stay here, i'm sure you'll be happy. It's the best bargain on the beach. Book in advance and save some money.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn on our way to Destin, FL. It is a great hotel, right on the beach. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Whatelse could you ask for?
