I am primarily a business traveler and Hampton Inn is my hotel of choice.. I've stayed in about 30 different Hampton Inn locations throughout the country have been consistently pleased with my experience.. HOWEVER please keep in mind when reading this that Hampton Inn Pensacola Beach is the exception, not the rule.
I booked the hotel last minute as I was on my way back to Atlanta from Baton Rouge visiting friends and had a few days I wanted to spend at the beach with the family.. The nightly rate was almost double what I usually spend at Hampton but it figured the difference in price was due the location (beach). So being used to the Hampton Inn quailty, I thought it would be worth the money.. if only that were the case.
This hotel was a bit older that the other Hamptons I am used to staying and there were several things that were disappointing about this property:
1.) Room was musty and there were large black marks at various places on the walls
2.) Toilet handle was broken and hanging off toilet although still managed to flush
3.) Telephone in room did not work
4.) Last day there woke up to huge roach-like bug crawling on the bed.
Again, these may seem like minor issues to some reading this but I have never had issues like this at any other Hampton's I've stayed in before.. even the Daytona Beach Hampton Inn that was right on the beach.
I will leave you with one recommendation.. if this is the area you want to stay and you can manage to spend a few extra dollars, stay next door at the Hilton.. it is a much nicer/newer property with a great pool and restaurant.. Wish I would have booked there to begin with.
