Couldn't resist being so close to the beach, so we took a little detour from our route, drove into Pensacola and spotted this hotel, which was one of the first to meet my approval from it's outside appearance.

The best thing about this place is that the beach is literally right out the back door. While playing in the waves right behind the hotel, we watched dolphins play about 100 yards out from us, which was obviously exciting. My children were thrilled with their seashell finds...they actually did come away with some good ones.

The lobby & breakfast area are tastefully done with up-to-date decor. The hotel clerk was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast items were kept up well with the usual Hampton breakfast selections: some type of eggs, biscuits, sausage, cereals, pastries, milk, coffee, juices.

The upstairs hallways were clean, but had a 1980's feel.

The room was furnished with up-to-date decor & clean. Much roomier than most hotel rooms we've stayed in the past few years. Room & bathroom met my approval....and I'm picky! Beautiful ocean view, balcony, and comfortable to be in.

I liked this hotel, can recommend it, and would stay there again.

We booked the Hampton Inn 2 months before our trip with HH points. Being a diamond member I thought we might get upgraded to a beach-front view, but sadly we weren't. Potentially they may have been booked way in advance of our booking, but who knows.

The room was fine, clean, came with microwave and fridge. Bathroom was OK, a little small, and there wre some nasty looking marks at the rear of the toilet - to me it looked like slovenly cleaning from the janitors who probably slosh a mop back there - there were slimy drips of "water" all down the 'backside'. Excuse the pun...

The Tiki bar was closed on July 4th - what?!?!?! That didn't make sense to us at all. The 2 pools were nice, a little on the small size, but most people come for the beach right? That was nice being able to walk to the beach from the hotel, literally steps away. Its an extremely well kept beach - immaculate from trash and people's left-overs.

Breakfast - gets VERY busy! but good selection of cereals, drinks, bread items and a couple of hot dishes that rotate each morning. All self-service so no need to leave tips.

Main downer of the Hampton Inn - no shuttle bus!! A ride to the airport = $40+tip.

Overall the hotel is nice, reminds me more of a business room rather than a holiday room - the decor was very business like. If this is rated #1 out of all places in Pensacola, the other places must be pretty bad - don't get me wrong, this place is perfectly acceptable, but I would rate it avererage or just above.

The Hampton Inn on Pensacola beach was a good hotel, but I was slightly disappointed for the price. When we checked in, we were given a room with a "sound side view." The room was large and had a refrigerator and microwave. The complementary Wi-fi was also nice. When I walked over to the window, I could see a maintenance area directly below us at the front of the hotel. It was a mess and really ruined the view. The staff at the front desk agreed to transfer us to a different room. If I had been willing to pay extra, I could have upgraded to the only remaining room on the beach side; however, it was on the first floor which meant it had no balcony, and the view was obstructed by the Tiki Bar. It wasn't a bad view, but why pay for an ocean view only to look at the Tiki Bar?

There were two outdoor pools, but they were both somewhat small and both were full with about 10 kids each. (The pool area at the Hilton next door was larger and MUCH nicer.) The beach was just beyond the pool and was easily accessible.

Breakfast was complimentary, and consisted of danishes, muffins, bagles, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, biscuits, and an egg dish that had ham and cheese in it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good, either.

This hotel wouldn't be my first choice on Pensacola Beach.

Again, the reviews were right! We were very pleased with the Hampton Inn. The staff was great! The kids loved the beach by day and the pool by night. The hotel was within easy walking distance of the public beach, pier($1 per person), shopping, and restaurants. We would definitely stay there again!
