“Enjoyed good Scungilli and bay scallop appetizer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We stopped in for pizza and some hors d'oeuvres. Crab cakes and cracked scungilli were great! so was the Po Boy oyster sandwich that we split. Now, in regards to their "specialty martini's" for $10, they were more "girlie" style than I have had and enjoyed before. Too fruity for me.. didn't have enough vodka to suit my tastes either. Everything else was great, though.

Thanks for the review! Your comments we're very thoughtful and insightful. We will have to come up with some new Martini's that will better suit our more masculine guests. Hope you stop back soon to try one! Thanks again and Happy New Year! The Whale

“Did not have a reservation and paid for it?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

We went on "all you can eat crab leg" night. Walked in and was asked, Do you have a reservation? No, ok you can sit at table not a booth. Ok..after we were seated and another couple seated in the table behind us (no reservation either) the "hostess" came to the waiter and said " this table and that one, no reservations". I thought that rather strange. Although the service and delivery of the crab legs were on time, the quality was awful!! I couldn't help but wonder if "no reservations" had anything to do with.
I read some reviews here of The Whale and was tossed about going. I should have listened. I sure will never go back there.....BTW...this The Whale is NOT to be confused with The Whales Rib at the beach in Deerfield Beach...

“Good deal, glad we didn't pay full price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We bought a travelzoo voucher and decided to try this place on a Saturday night. We had reservations for 8:15pm, showed up just before and got our table at 8:45.

Our server was the best part of the experience. He was friendly, helpful and attentive.

They were out of oysters, which was a pretty big disappointment. The lobster bisque was average, no chunks of lobster meat though. Our lobster came swimming in tepid water. The black beans and rice were tasteless and the fish tacos -average. The mashed potatoes tasted old, so our server replaced them. The replacements were better, but still tasted as though they had been sitting in a warmer tray for a looooong time.

Overall for what we paid (with the voucher) it wasn't bad. We just wouldn't return to pay the regular prices for anything.

“A bit overprised for an average restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Casual setting and a basic seafood menu. The blackened mahi sandwich was small but tasty, clam-chowder soup good and their fish tacos average. The fries are their high point; nice portion of big, thin slices of potatoes crispy and "earthy" tasting, delicious! There are a few chicken and meat dishes on the menu for you non-seafood fans.Nice kids menu with the regular dishes; pizza, chicken nuggets, hamburger and fish sliders.

“Not so good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

we use to eat there all the time but the last few visits where not so good. Fish was over cooked and not so fresh. Got very sick eating oysters. Gave it a few more tries but that's it for me.
