3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for New Years and they were the cheapest around. When we first pulled up I was a little concerned by the looks of the building but everything was clean inside. There is no carpet anywhere, just tile floors. The balcony has a great view of the ocean and is a pretty awesome spot to watch the sun go down. Rhee beds aren't anything too notable but for $39 a night it was not bad. Overall our experience was positive and I would do it again.

Great stay at the Casa Loma,While it's not a new hotel it was clean and meet all our needs. The hotel was built in 1971 and has some minor issues (but doesn't most anything that is 41 years old)but nothing that would keep me from staying there. The location is perfect and the grounds and views are breathtaking.Great staff. Will return again.

Don't let the all bad reviews be misleading. The Casa Loma was not filthy, I didn't get bitten by bed bugs, the staff was not rude.
I guess some people will complain about everything.
It's not a four star hotel and they don't claim to be.
What the Casa Loma is is a nice, clean, cheap (at least in October it was, $39 a night) place to stay. It might be 40+ years old and showing some wear and tear but if you want the mom & pop feel of old Florida, this place will do just fine.
I stayed there Oct. 19 - 22 on a motorcycle trip and I did not want to leave.
The place doesn't look like much from the outside but the rooms have been updated over the years.
Upon entering the room I noticed that it was very clean and neat and the beds appeared to be realitively new and were quite comfortable pillow top mattresses.
I just had a standard double queen unit so I can't comment on the other units.
I was on the east end of the motel and with the way the motel is curved the ends of the building are very close to beach, I couldn't believe how close to the water I was.
My wife and I usually stay in one of the high rise condos 8 plus Floor up and yes you do have a good view, but being so close to the water was great.
It is true the the water temp in shower is not constant, it can but doesn't always go from warm to scalding to freezing without notice. And you can hear the toilets flush every time your neighbors use the bathroom. But these were minor issues as I was there to spend all day on the beach.
As much as we like to stay in condos, it was nice to not be surrounded by concrete buildings.
On the east side of the motel is a row of very nice houses and to the west is about a half mile of open beach.
The view from the balcony was great. The lush landscaping in the courtyard was very pretty and well maintained.
I could go on and on.
The only complaint or issue other than with the water temp in shower would be the broken door frames. Both door frames (front door / back door) were broken. It looked like someone had kicked the door in. I blame it on the spring breakers and I did notice broken door frames on several other rooms on the floor that I was staying on. Both doors did securely lock, so that was not a real issue.
If you can get past a little peeling paint and a broken door frame, then this is the place for you.
Oh, they do not charge for ice...you are allowed one 10 lb bag of daily, actually on one day I used two bags.
Did I mention that the place was clean? Well, it was very clean and quiet. It was a very relaxing long weekend and I'm ready to back. I would most definately stay at the Casa Loma again.
Man, this turned in to a long review.
Don't let the bad reveiws mislead you. For the $$ you can not beat this palce.

We would like to thank you for this review and above all recognizing we are what we are which is old Florida with a Mom and Pop personal feel. The Thunder Beach Rally is always a great time for all our staff and our guest during this special event are living our dreams and glad you enjoyed this fabulous view and realize how very close to the water the hotel is.

The inn is a true Spanish style midcentury Floridian motel it is has incredible architecture detail that begs to an different era. It is not a new hotel with a thematic motif but the real deal. The brick and tilework are orginal to the inn and the landscaping is breathtaking. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We had the family unit that included three frigs, a stove, microwave, toaster, a deep sink, a beautiful tiled bath, a vanity area, two televisions, two desks and two tables, two balconies, (one we used for drying and the other for relaxing), lots of storage, and two queens and a king bed. The beach area is fairly private just shares with beach houses and public access and the motel offers a showering area at the entrance to keep the sand down. The staff was very friendly all day long the smile and say "Good Morning" even at 4pm.
