Let me sart by saying that I booked this place as a last minute decision. We met some family members from GA for a last minute getaway, so we were basically looking for just a room.
We arrived early. The room was ready, fast and prompt service from the ladies at the front desk. We stayed in room 438, double queen with a bathroom. I recommend 3rd and 4th floor for the view. The room smelled clean, but the floor was sandy and dirty. Bathroom was clean. I found a piece of broken glass on the floor. Oversight, I hope. The lock on our front door was a joke. Thank goodness for the night latch on the door, because using the deadbolt was out. The door frame needed to be replaced on this room. Most of the wood that held the receptor for the door knob was gone. It was barely hanging in there with screws. A good nudge and the door could have came open. The back door was rotting and you could see sunlight coming through at the bottom. Paint on the outside bottom of back door was also peeling. I did inform the front desk about the front door. We didn't bring anything of real value, so we let the door issue go until check out. There are no usable safes in the room. We basically just slept in the room.
The overall appearance of the room was good. Updated decor. The room was lacking attention to detail. Lamps, lamp shades and lights over sink were covered in dust. They have a dehumidfier in the room that was really loud when it cycled on and off. Makes it rather difficult to sleep. Room had coffee maker and refridgerator. We were not expecting a fridge, so that was a plus. No ice maker on premises, but they provide you with one bag of ice per room per day, so bring a cooler if you aren't staying in a room with a kitchenette. The phone in our room had no directions on it, (i.e. if you had messages to retrieve, call front desk, call room to room, dial out) so if you wanted to use the room phone, that was out unless you went to front desk and ask how to use. We didn't need the phone, so no biggie for us.
The Inn could use a good paint job. Paint on all the railings is peeling.
On the positive side, great location, if you want away from all the high rises. Within walking distance to a few shops and restaurants. Short drive to Pier Park. The backside of the building is great. Nice, clean pool area. Gardens and green space between you and the ocean. Every room has a beautiful beach view. Beach behind Inn is beautiful and wasn't that crowded. Beds are fairly comfortable. Husband says they were a little to firm, I thought they were fine.
I would have to say, that we got what we paid for. For $109 per night, we felt it was ok. All except the lock issue, which I hope they take care of. It really wasn't safe. Like I said, we mainly slept there. Spent our time elsewhere. Would we stay here again..... probably not.
The place has tremedous potential, but it needs some attention to detail.
