The view from the room was excellent. The room was fine. Water pressure in the shower was low. The room was clean though. Met the owner and she was nice.

We just returned from Casa Loma, totaly enjoyed our stay, Janet was lovely in the office as were all the other staff members. Yes the floor was a little sandy but WE brought the sand in ( I read the reviews and brought my own broom..lol). The housekeeping staff was very friendly and always gave me extra coffee each morning, loved getting a bag of ice free each day. I even enjoyed no elevator...helped to make up for some of the extra goodies we were eating..lol.Casa Loma is not a 5 star motel but its good for the price and you cant beat the view, the pool was great and the clean. Lots of famlies there good place to be....Thanks Casa Loma for an enjoyable time.

We stayed at the casa loma in late June for a week. When we got there we walked into a very clean room with a beautiful view. We stayed in the double queen with a kitchen. As the days went on we noticed quite a few problems with the room. The air conditioner was in working order but was physically falling apart, when we called the front desk to let them know so we would not be charged for the damage they replied "okay" in a very monotone unpleasant manner. The tile floors are a great idea but are not swept during your stay so there is sand everywhere and get very slippery. The beds are made daily but the sheets are not changed AT ALL. Nothing is wiped down or even cleaned at all either. They basically make your bed and give you towels. That is the extent of it. The room is nicely decorated but VERY poor lighting, two out of three of our lamps did not work and the light over the vanity didn't either. So we only could rely on one lamp and the light in the kitchen area. The water pressure in the shower is very low, but great hot water (standing shower only). And the toilet takes a very long time to flush and sometimes doesn't at all. The kitchen has a full size fridge which is great but very little silverware we got NO forks, 2 cups, one coffee cup etc. There is a decent size tv but the cable constantly glitches and goes out. Every room has a balcony with a beautiful view of the pool and the beach. Our door to the balcony was broken and would not close unless it was dead bolted. But beware of rain you will be drenched on your balcony from the leaking roof. Really the only dry outdoor place in the whole hotel is a stairwell, there are NO ELEVATORS. Everywhere else you will be drenched by the rain. Water also leaks into your room from the balcony door as well as the front door. The grounds are kept very beautifully and there is a great entrance to the beach by the pool and they are very strict of the 10 am to 10 pm pool rule. The pool is clean with tons of lounge chairs around it. The parking lot gets full very fast as well. As for the "wifi" you are getting, forget about it. Unless you are sitting in front of the front office you can't pick it up. The hotel isn't in a prime location by any means. You can walk to very little from here. All in all if you are staying for a night or two it would be great, but so not worth the money for anything longer.

We stayed at the Casa Loma June 17, 2012 for 4nights. I booked it through Bookit.Com. Let me just say I will never stay there again! The staff was not friendly at all, they only gave us 2 washclothes for 5 people an when i asked for more they couldnt understand english, very dusty rooms, small bathroom no tub, the shower would change temp while bathing from boiling to cold, pillows stained with pee stains on pillows an pillow case. Need i say more?

Let me sart by saying that I booked this place as a last minute decision. We met some family members from GA for a last minute getaway, so we were basically looking for just a room.
We arrived early. The room was ready, fast and prompt service from the ladies at the front desk. We stayed in room 438, double queen with a bathroom. I recommend 3rd and 4th floor for the view. The room smelled clean, but the floor was sandy and dirty. Bathroom was clean. I found a piece of broken glass on the floor. Oversight, I hope. The lock on our front door was a joke. Thank goodness for the night latch on the door, because using the deadbolt was out. The door frame needed to be replaced on this room. Most of the wood that held the receptor for the door knob was gone. It was barely hanging in there with screws. A good nudge and the door could have came open. The back door was rotting and you could see sunlight coming through at the bottom. Paint on the outside bottom of back door was also peeling. I did inform the front desk about the front door. We didn't bring anything of real value, so we let the door issue go until check out. There are no usable safes in the room. We basically just slept in the room.
The overall appearance of the room was good. Updated decor. The room was lacking attention to detail. Lamps, lamp shades and lights over sink were covered in dust. They have a dehumidfier in the room that was really loud when it cycled on and off. Makes it rather difficult to sleep. Room had coffee maker and refridgerator. We were not expecting a fridge, so that was a plus. No ice maker on premises, but they provide you with one bag of ice per room per day, so bring a cooler if you aren't staying in a room with a kitchenette. The phone in our room had no directions on it, (i.e. if you had messages to retrieve, call front desk, call room to room, dial out) so if you wanted to use the room phone, that was out unless you went to front desk and ask how to use. We didn't need the phone, so no biggie for us.
The Inn could use a good paint job. Paint on all the railings is peeling.
On the positive side, great location, if you want away from all the high rises. Within walking distance to a few shops and restaurants. Short drive to Pier Park. The backside of the building is great. Nice, clean pool area. Gardens and green space between you and the ocean. Every room has a beautiful beach view. Beach behind Inn is beautiful and wasn't that crowded. Beds are fairly comfortable. Husband says they were a little to firm, I thought they were fine.
I would have to say, that we got what we paid for. For $109 per night, we felt it was ok. All except the lock issue, which I hope they take care of. It really wasn't safe. Like I said, we mainly slept there. Spent our time elsewhere. Would we stay here again..... probably not.
The place has tremedous potential, but it needs some attention to detail.

It was the BEST hotel but it was decent. The beds were sort of comfy and were no bed bugs (I checked). The WiFi DOES work, but you have to have at least one of the doors open. Having a room with a kitchen was awesome, it was cheaper to buy groceries and cook yourself than to eat out every night. The ads say it's on the Miracle Strip but the motel is at least five miles from anything. Pier Park is about a $12 taxi ride and other stuff like Ripley's, Wonderworks, the waterpark, etc are a $12 taxi ride in the opposite direction. The only places within walking distance are a gas station, tattoo parlors, and t-shirt shops. Oh, and Betty isn't as mean as everyone claims! The shower didn't change temperatures. The temp will be fine if you keep the hot and cold equal. It was definitely nice staying on the beach.

I was a little concerned after reading the reviews for the motel but had already booked the room. We just go back from our trip. The motel was fine. Of course it's not a 5 star hotel, it's just a nice motel with a beautiful view because it's right on the beach. It is a motel not a hotel. There is no continental breakfast. The people were nice. We ended up arriving early so they let us check in early. Some things to know... the motel is 4 stories, however from the street it appears to be 3 stories as it is split level. If you book a room on the first floor, you will have to go down a flight of stairs (underground) to get to your room. However you will be on the first floor on the beach/pool side. I recommend the second floor (thats what we had). It is ground level to the parking/street side so no stairs but 2nd level to the beach/pool side and the palm trees are beautiful at that level but not too much in the way. There is no elevator that i saw. They do not have an ice maker but give you bags of ice. They have vending machines. We did not get the room with a kitchen, but it still came with a glass cooler which kept our drinks cold. The room also comes with a safe. The room is very sound proof but the downside to that is hardly any wireless internet connection. Most of the time, but no always, you pretty much have to open your front door to get any kind of reception (could be different with other providers. (We have AT&T). The motel does offer wireless but it seemed to only be accessible if we were outside. The pool nice. It had easy access to the beach. They do rent umbrellas and beach chairs by the day and set them up for you on the beach with your name on them. The air conditioner was kind of noisy and if not closed tightly rattles the hard plastic blinds above it. The beds are firm. There are lots of pillows. The floors are all tile. The bathroom only has a shower (no tub) but its a large handcapped accessible shower. It was nice for jumping into to wash off sand. The towels were scratchy but not horrible. I did have a little trouble once with the water jumping from cold to hot. the balcony has a beautiful view but the paint on the railing is old and chipping. The room is a nice beachy style room, again no 5 star room but nice. There were very few plug ins in the room so if you have several cell chargers and electronic devices, bring an extention cord. There is no left turning out of the parking lot since it's right at a light so had to turn around down the road several times. If you are looking for a room directly on the beach with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean but with no bells and whistles for a decent price, it's a good place. If you want a fancier place, you may want to go with a higher priced hotel or shop around.
