“This was fine.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

The view from the room was excellent. The room was fine. Water pressure in the shower was low. The room was clean though. Met the owner and she was nice.

“Loved Our stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

We just returned from Casa Loma, totaly enjoyed our stay, Janet was lovely in the office as were all the other staff members. Yes the floor was a little sandy but WE brought the sand in ( I read the reviews and brought my own broom..lol). The housekeeping staff was very friendly and always gave me extra coffee each morning, loved getting a bag of ice free each day. I even enjoyed no elevator...helped to make up for some of the extra goodies we were eating..lol.Casa Loma is not a 5 star motel but its good for the price and you cant beat the view, the pool was great and the clean. Lots of famlies there good place to be....Thanks Casa Loma for an enjoyable time.

“If you're looking for bells and whistles stay else where.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

We stayed at the casa loma in late June for a week. When we got there we walked into a very clean room with a beautiful view. We stayed in the double queen with a kitchen. As the days went on we noticed quite a few problems with the room. The air conditioner was in working order but was physically falling apart, when we called the front desk to let them know so we would not be charged for the damage they replied "okay" in a very monotone unpleasant manner. The tile floors are a great idea but are not swept during your stay so there is sand everywhere and get very slippery. The beds are made daily but the sheets are not changed AT ALL. Nothing is wiped down or even cleaned at all either. They basically make your bed and give you towels. That is the extent of it. The room is nicely decorated but VERY poor lighting, two out of three of our lamps did not work and the light over the vanity didn't either. So we only could rely on one lamp and the light in the kitchen area. The water pressure in the shower is very low, but great hot water (standing shower only). And the toilet takes a very long time to flush and sometimes doesn't at all. The kitchen has a full size fridge which is great but very little silverware we got NO forks, 2 cups, one coffee cup etc. There is a decent size tv but the cable constantly glitches and goes out. Every room has a balcony with a beautiful view of the pool and the beach. Our door to the balcony was broken and would not close unless it was dead bolted. But beware of rain you will be drenched on your balcony from the leaking roof. Really the only dry outdoor place in the whole hotel is a stairwell, there are NO ELEVATORS. Everywhere else you will be drenched by the rain. Water also leaks into your room from the balcony door as well as the front door. The grounds are kept very beautifully and there is a great entrance to the beach by the pool and they are very strict of the 10 am to 10 pm pool rule. The pool is clean with tons of lounge chairs around it. The parking lot gets full very fast as well. As for the "wifi" you are getting, forget about it. Unless you are sitting in front of the front office you can't pick it up. The hotel isn't in a prime location by any means. You can walk to very little from here. All in all if you are staying for a night or two it would be great, but so not worth the money for anything longer.

“Terrible place to stay!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

We stayed at the Casa Loma June 17, 2012 for 4nights. I booked it through Bookit.Com. Let me just say I will never stay there again! The staff was not friendly at all, they only gave us 2 washclothes for 5 people an when i asked for more they couldnt understand english, very dusty rooms, small bathroom no tub, the shower would change temp while bathing from boiling to cold, pillows stained with pee stains on pillows an pillow case. Need i say more?

“Lots of potential, but sadly neglected.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

Let me sart by saying that I booked this place as a last minute decision. We met some family members from GA for a last minute getaway, so we were basically looking for just a room.
We arrived early. The room was ready, fast and prompt service from the ladies at the front desk. We stayed in room 438, double queen with a bathroom. I recommend 3rd and 4th floor for the view. The room smelled clean, but the floor was sandy and dirty. Bathroom was clean. I found a piece of broken glass on the floor. Oversight, I hope. The lock on our front door was a joke. Thank goodness for the night latch on the door, because using the deadbolt was out. The door frame needed to be replaced on this room. Most of the wood that held the receptor for the door knob was gone. It was barely hanging in there with screws. A good nudge and the door could have came open. The back door was rotting and you could see sunlight coming through at the bottom. Paint on the outside bottom of back door was also peeling. I did inform the front desk about the front door. We didn't bring anything of real value, so we let the door issue go until check out. There are no usable safes in the room. We basically just slept in the room.
The overall appearance of the room was good. Updated decor. The room was lacking attention to detail. Lamps, lamp shades and lights over sink were covered in dust. They have a dehumidfier in the room that was really loud when it cycled on and off. Makes it rather difficult to sleep. Room had coffee maker and refridgerator. We were not expecting a fridge, so that was a plus. No ice maker on premises, but they provide you with one bag of ice per room per day, so bring a cooler if you aren't staying in a room with a kitchenette. The phone in our room had no directions on it, (i.e. if you had messages to retrieve, call front desk, call room to room, dial out) so if you wanted to use the room phone, that was out unless you went to front desk and ask how to use. We didn't need the phone, so no biggie for us.
The Inn could use a good paint job. Paint on all the railings is peeling.
On the positive side, great location, if you want away from all the high rises. Within walking distance to a few shops and restaurants. Short drive to Pier Park. The backside of the building is great. Nice, clean pool area. Gardens and green space between you and the ocean. Every room has a beautiful beach view. Beach behind Inn is beautiful and wasn't that crowded. Beds are fairly comfortable. Husband says they were a little to firm, I thought they were fine.
I would have to say, that we got what we paid for. For $109 per night, we felt it was ok. All except the lock issue, which I hope they take care of. It really wasn't safe. Like I said, we mainly slept there. Spent our time elsewhere. Would we stay here again..... probably not.
The place has tremedous potential, but it needs some attention to detail.
