“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We were able to get a room (King effeciency) on Monday before Labor Day weekend. Saw that it was #1 on Trip Advisor and felt comfortable make reservations. Room was great and
clean. We even able to stay an extra day and keep the same room. No problems whatsoever. Very nice staff.

This is a basic, well run beachside hotel. It is not flashy but clean and just the right size so the two elevators are prompt. We were there for 2 days/3 nights and never waited longer than 30 seconds. The service is quick and the staff pleasant and competent.

Everything works inside and out and seems to be very well maintained. This is not a resort so they do not have shops/restaurants (one gift shop) room service or bell men to help with the luggage, but it is very “resort like”. We found ample “buggies” to bring up all our stuff. I counted 6 or 7.

Unloading/load is not a problem as there is space in front to park (temporarily) to unload/load. The price is right and we had a very enjoyable time. We loved our great view (be sure to specify beach view) from the balcony if that is your thing. It is equally great for a family or honeymooners. The rooms are soundproof (we didn’t hear a sound from next door but we know the rooms were occupied).

The snow white beach is just at the rear of the large deck/pools. A word about PC beaches, they are still the greatest and reports of tar balls on the beach (from the recent storm) are erroneous. I don’t know who keeps trying to portray the Florida Gulf Coast as an ecological disaster. If you want to tar on your feet, go to Mustang Island in Texas. Florida beaches do not have this problem. The shell hunters had a great time every morning.

The hotel provides gas grills outside next to the pool for Families/individuals to cook out.

We were close to a variety of well regarded restaurants and activities/shopping such as Pier Park. One of my favorites (Boar’s Head) is right across the street. The hotel is easy to find (take 98 west from the city to highway 79 south) and close to the International Airport up highway 79.

Parking can be a problem but no more so than any other hotel on PC beach. Many of the guests grabbed their favorite parking spot and then walked to wherever they wanted to go. Also, there is a trolley that will pick you up and down front road.

Room Tip: Be sure to specify Ocean View. They have a motel across the street that does not have an ocean view...

Special Thanks to staff member Dan for finding my cell phone in the near-by Winn Dixie parking lot and calling me to return it. Little did he know we were staying at the place he works. He is my HERO!!! We can't say enough great things about this place. The view, inside and out - absolutely gorgeous. The amenities - fabulous. The hospitality - top notch. It was a "fancy" home away from home. The hotel ambiance made our whole vacation fantastic - exactly what we hoped for - and much much more. I can't wait to go back. We originally asked for a high room, so they gave us 7th floor. They were so nice about moving me to the 3rd floor when I decided that was too high. The decorations in the hotel are very clean and pleasant and new looking, two flat screen tv’s. The linens are nice, the pillows soft and fluffy. There was not one, but two ac units in our room, very quiet however. And there were plenty of extra pillows already in the storage nook in the hotel room. I am very sensitive to smells and the entire room had no smell… like a clean fresh smell only. We sat on the balcony morning and night and really enjoyed the view of the lovely landscaped poolside, right in front of the beach, and of course the beach view as well. I really miss that place already. All of the employees are so courteous and make you feel like the vacation is all about you, and they do their best to accommodate you.

We loved staying here for a long weekend for my birthday. The place is very clean and the beach is right out the back door. We got a the Queen Motel room and it was extremely spacious and decorated nicely. The owners were friendly, down-to-earth and made us feel very welcome. Besides the great reviews, I chose this place because they had free airport shuttle service, which was perfect. There were lots of places to visit within walking distance and when we needed wheels, there was a scooter/car rental place right across the street!

Room Tip: We had a room at the very end, which allowed us to have two large picture windows! Beautiful!

We stayed over the Labor Day weekend 2012. I chose Palmetto for two reasons: first, it is a family owned property and second, the reviews were very good. It lived up to it's reputation. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE including maintenance, housekeeping, front desk are so nice, respectful and helpful. The property, inside and out, is the cleanest that I have stayed in Panama City Beach. They are constantly cleaning. I was worried because many of the reveiws said that it is a great place for children and we are "empty nesters" but they were no problem. I would recommend Palmetto to anyone who wants a well cared for place to stay. Our room overlooked the heated, outdoor pool and beach. We ate breakfast every morning on our balcony while watching the people on the beach. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will return next spring.

Room Tip: There are rooms on the Gulf side and across the street. The rooms on the Gulf side each of balconies...

We decided to go 3 days early on our vacation to PCB. Unfortunately, our condo was occupied, so we had to make other arrangements. Having drove by the Palmetto for years, we decided that because it had an indoor pool, we would give it a try.
If you are used to staying in condos or houses, REMEMBER this is a motel!! We requested a king kitchenette. The room was not bad with a king bed, sofa and kitchen and was very close to the indoor pool. The indoor pool was really enjoyable and there were free gas grills right outside the pool. We grilled out 2 of the 3 nights and really enjoyed it.

We did go across the street to the outdoor pool. The pool and deck was very nice with free gas grills on each end and also had a hot tub. Also, there was a gift shop and snack bar.
The front desk employees were very friendly and accomodating, which was definitely a plus!
My only complaint was the ice maker in our refrigerator did not work and the indoor pool area was rather dark at night.

All in all, I would stay there again and would recommend it to others, But REMEMBER it is a motel, not a house or condo!!!,

Room Tip: for more space, choose a King instead of 2 beds, unless you need 2 beds!! If you want an ocean view...

we have been comng to panama city beach since you could only get a hotel on thomas drive, nothing else had been built yet, that was in the 50's. We have since stayed at the holiday inn and then when it moved and became the holiday inn sunspree, my daughter got married there on the beach. This was our first time at Palmetto and we will be back, best for the money and the people could not be more friendly and helpful. We have definitely found a hidden "treasure".
