“Will return year after year!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2009

We decided to plan our family vacation for a trip to Panama City Beach. Myself, I have never been, but my husband had gone a few times when he was younger. We were kind of leery about going to Panama City due to the reports of others that stated it was an over crowed, dirty, party place. But when we arrived in Panama City Beach it was absolutely beautiful. It was not dirty like everyone had said and they have built many tall beautiful high rise condos right on the beach. We LOVED Splash, great place for a family. We rented just a 1 1/2 bd room 2bath unit. The master bedroom was lovely and had a huge spacious master bath, and then in the hall there was a bunk bed area. Everything that we needed was there, the kitchen was stocked with plates, cups, and all other utensils we needed as if we would be cooking and eating meals at home. They also have a washer and dryer in the units. That came in very handy so we didn't have to pack so much and we could wash our towels. Everything was very clean and neat. There was no noise; we didn't have to wait for elevators at all. The beaches were great and the pools with the kid’s splash play area also very awesome! The only fall back was the hot tub was not in working order and that was the only flaw that we had seen at the time. Well along with getting there right as Tropical Storm Fey was coming in, but after it passed the weather was wonderful. We highly recommend this resort and definitely do the pirate cruise if you have a young family. That was amazing also.

This is a beautiful resort all the way around. The room was beautiful clean and upscale. The beach was gorgeous. The pools are unique, hence are reason for picking Slash. The staff was always friendly and willing to help.
I was surprised to see all the bad reviews but I guess you can't please them all.

We stayed at Splash April 4-11th (Spring Break) through vrbo.com so I can't comment on the rooms rented through the resort. We were on the 2nd floor which was great because there was often lines at the elevators and we could take the stairs. we rented a 2br 2ba condo and had plenty of room for our family of 4. The rooms and view was great! We also liked the location of Splash because it is on the far west end of Panama City Beach which can still get crazy at Spring Break. The biggest drawback for us was the pools. They were one of the main reasons we rented here in the first place however, they were freezing cold!. They are supposed to be heated, but not real well. The children's waterpark area is not heated at all and was hardly used because it was too cold. We were here a week and used the pools maybe once. Also, the way the building is situated the wind is really stron t the waterpark area, while on the beach itself, it was not bad at all. It was probably 10 degrees cooler in the pool area as related to the beach. Thank goodness for the arcade since we couldn't go swimming. Also security was a little lax. You were supposed to wear wristbands in the pool area but they never checked and one morning, some couple let their DOG swim in the pool! All in all we would probably not stay here again.

Very neat resort with everything my wife and I needed to relax and keep the kids happy. Our condo was clean and comfortable. It was nice not having to pay to go to an off site waterpark.

My husband and I stayed (most recently) at SPLASH in December 2008 and always enjoy our time there. Splash is a great spot on a beautiful beach. This is our 3rd time to splash and we miss it the moment we leave. UNIT 607 W is so nice we wouldn't want to be anywhere else on the beach. The owner (Rick) takes such good care of us every time and his place is truly the nicest place in the building... (www.vrbo.com/180487) We rent from the private owner, it usually saves a few dollars and he is so easy to deal with. Just visit the front desk when you get there and you are all set. This unit is a corner unit with 2 bedrooms and a 2 bunk room. We like this unit because both bedrooms are master suites with attached bathrooms, KING sized beds and on the beach side with huge balcony, great for 2 couples. This unit is decorated and outfitted with all the comforts of home or nicer than home!! This property is close to shopping, dining and has Alvin’s “Tropical Department Store” attached for all other needs. We give this place 2 thumbs way up!

(Response to other Reviews)
After reading the reviews from other guests we are finally motivated to post our own review. We have stayed at Splash in both PEAK (summer) and OFF seasons.

ELEVATORS, Splash has 2 towers, each tower has 2 elevators, total 4 elevators. We have never experienced 10, 20 or 30 minute wait times and laughed when we read that. The elevators move very fast and always seem to accommodate very well. We stay on 6th floor and would walk up or down if needed (stairs are next to elevators).

Luggage Carts, the parking garage stores about 50-75 of these things and we have never had an issue getting one. I assume if your complaining about not getting one it’s because your THAT person who would choose to check in on a Saturday of a holiday weekend at 3pm... Otherwise no problem.

PARKING, The parking deck is across the street and attached to the (nice) lobby and (climate controlled) cross walk. EVERY NEW upscale facility on the beach is exactly the same setup.

POOLS, there are 5 pool areas and a huge amazing beach. Each pool area offers something different, shade, sun, kids, adults, lazy river, etc. We love what this place has to offer and it really sets itself apart from all other resorts in PCB.

BEACH, this beach is one of the best in the world, Period. There is a public water runoff about 100 yards down the beach and SPLASH has no control over public utilities. This only seems to darken the water in a small area and only after long periods of strong rain and quickly disappears. Another NON issue. The sand is white, cool, fine, hour glass sand and the water is clear, clean and emerald green. The beach is clean and big, we have never had an issue finding our own spot on the beach – it’s the place to be!!

We recommend this place to anyone looking for a very nice property with a lot to offer.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2008

We stayed from October 4th - 11th 2008. I was very nervous about our stay at Splash after reading reviews here on trip advisor. However, most of the complaints I have read did not apply in October. The only time we waited very long for the elevators was at check-in and that was 10 minutes tops. The elevators did smell a few times due to all the wet bodies but the staff sprayed them down daily. There were always lots of luggage carts, chairs at the pool and plenty of space on the beach. I can see how this resort could be super packed in the summer but I wouldn't choose to stay there during the busiest season of the year either.

Our condo unit was a fabulous Windsong unit. We had 3 adults and 4 small kids in the space and never felt crowded at all. We rented from VRBO unit #180487 and loved it. The owner was great to deal with and his condo kitchen was nicely stocked for cooking and nicely decorated as well.

We also really liked the game room and used the DVD rental several times. The DVD rental is located in the game room as well and was easy to find.

We used the grills as well with charcoal one night & it worked just find. I saw someone else complaining that charcoal was required but it wasn't a problem for us. Also, there are more than 4 grills. Grills are located both under the West tower and back in the rear of the toddler splash area.

We also liked the walkway over the street and the covered parking. It was a long walk but the exercise was nice and we appreciated not having to cross the street below.

The bar was only open on the weekends because of the season but the staff was nice and even gave us left over drinks for free to try and the food was hot.

Now the bad..... the pools are not heated at this time of the year and were cold! We mainly stayed in the lazy river and attached pool and toddler area because those were the only ones we could stand the temperature. The area with the bucket and slide were ice cold so we rarely went over there. The worst part for us was that the hot tub broke the day before we arrived and they just kept it running with cold water. We asked the maintenance man how long till it would be fixed and he said next month!!!! I think he was tired of being asked because he was not pleasant about it either. With the other pools being so cold, we needed the heat from the hot tub and were not happy. A resort this big should have spare parts for their pools and hot tubs! I also think that the heaters should have been on at the pools already.

All in all I think our play was pleasant and we would stay here again.

  • Liked — Great activites for small children, beautiful view.

We stayed in a 3 Bedroom unit with a LockOut Suite. It was the perfect set up for 2 familes to share. The lockout had a small mini-kitchen and seperate thermostat. The elevators were very fast and we never waited more than a couple of minutes. The water park is ideal for small children, but did not appeal to our teens. Various relatives had rented 8 units and all looked great.
The issues we had were maintenance related. Our keys worked inconsistently. We planned a cookout for 40 relatives (staying throughout Splash in various units) and NONE of the 4 grills were working. We discovered this 30 minutes before dinner when we went to use the grills. All were missing the ignitors. After contacting maintenance we were notified that they were due to be repaired and we could purchase charcoal accross the street (AND USE IN THE GAS GRILL?????LOL).
The lazy river had a handful of floats and only a couple had air in them. None of the pools were heated , nor were the hot tubs. They were too cold to use. This was disappointing, our choice for this facility was based on the water features. We wont be staying there again.
