“Impressive Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

The Boardwalk Condominiums offer aesthetics, safety and excitement. It is a family-friendly oasis sitting in the belly of Spring Break '13 that I thought would have been impossible to find, especially because I swore off PCB after quite a bruising experience last year. We stayed in unit#709. There were clean carpets (we still wore socks inside just in case), a clean, well-equipped kitchen, magnificent bathrooms with jacuzzi in master, and a fabulous view. Beds felt clean and we slept well. Most surprisingly for everyone, however, is the awesome service the security guards provided. They checked wristbands and were very respectful. Every day of our five day stay was filled with music riding the ocean breeze and floating into the unit (I had the balcony door open, always), there was a snow cone cart located between the beach and pool areas and there was a bar and mini restaurant...obviously, someone is paying attention to the details. The pool area was gorgeous and we also enjoyed the beach. Personally, I don't mind Spring Breakers. It's just horrid to see the damages that are done to some properties after they leave town and that is why I am amazed to stay at a place where the people in charge act like it. Our only encounter with rowdy Spring Breakers was when we made our daily treks from the property to dine at local restaurants and shop for souvenirs.

Room Tip: Higher floors offer better ocean view.

We just returned from spring Break 13'. In selecting a nice hotel on the beach, went for this $350/night stay. We stayed in Condo #1903, the mattresses were caved in the middle and were at least 20 years old or either an extremely cheap one. The bedspreads in both rooms were absolutely nasty, one has blood on the top, can't believe any maid would miss that. The carpets were not clean, and the couch and chair in living room smelt of sweaty dirty beach sweat, and the unit stunk. The kitchen and baths were clean. The online fee was almost $800 for 3 nights and had to pay another whopping $300 fee for cleaning and insurance and a resort fee. Thought that was how you determined a room rate, guess not. I felt like a cheaper room rate was advertised then hit with hidden fees (which were in small print), was bait and switch. Couldn't wait to get back home to sleep in a fresh bed. I will say the pool and security at the gate ROCK! These security guys don't play around and check arm bands like they should, make frequent visits on each floor, etc. Felt very safe and secure.

My family and I went for my birthday and this place was beautiful. By far the best place I have EVER stayed in Panama City! It was very clean and right on the beautiful beach. The staff is very friendly. I can't wait to go back there this summer!!!

Our group was very skeptical about staying here after reading reviews online, but after staying in the condo for a week, I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else! The bad reviews are of the HOTEL not the CONDO. Our room was exceptional clean. No stains in the carpet, no stains on the sheets. Everything was spotless. The staff was extremely friendly. There was also a security guard on duty daily which made us feel safe. The pool was warm and well maintained. There is a small deli/grocery store on the ground floor which proved to be very convient. They have pizza, sandwiches, packaged snacks, drinks, coffee, nachos, and hotdogs. Also hygenic items, batterys, floats, and sunscreen to name a few. I read a review on TripAdviser that said the check-in building was "6 miles away". That is completely untrue. More like 6 minutes WALKING DISTANCE. Alvin's Island (a retail shop) is also within walking distance. Our trip was amazing. I will never stay at a another condo in Panama City other than this one. I would recommend it to everyone.

Recommendations:

Activities: Dragsters (dragster go-carts), and the maze (a large white fenced maze in which you are timed and have to find 4 check points and then your way out).

Food: Angelos Steakhouse....BEST STEAK EVER.
**I would strongly avoid Dead Eye Dicks. A member of our group ordered the BBQ Ribs which he claimed were wonderful but after leaving the resturant, had a long visit with the nearest restroom.

We stay at the Boardwalk Beach Resort Condo very often. We always try to stay in unit 0906. It is alway very clean and has everything that we need. The furnishings are very comfortable and in good condition.
The pool is great. It is alway clean and a lot of fun. We love the pool/snack bar located beside the pool. We also enjoy having the convenience of the Corner Market. It also has a good gym, sauna, and steam room.
Don't listen to others. I have read reviews that don't apply to the condos, they must have been staying at the hotels, which are next door. If you rent from the management company on site you can check-in at the main office which is next door. If you rent from any company off site you may have to check-in several blocks away.
The condo is in a very convenient location. There is a golf course across the road and great access to any location on the beach. The condo also has good parking. You can park on the upper deck or in the covered, lower deck. Both pariking lots are just steps away from the elevators. It is not like most places on the west end of the beach where you have to park and walk across the road to the condo.
The Boardwalk CONDOS are a great place. Convenient, clean, fun, and affordable.

Room Tip: We like unit 0906 but any unit above the 2nd floor will have a great view.

Booked through "book it".com for family vacation (two rooms, 8 people) a three bedroom plus bonus room (2000,2001) and a one bed room plus bonus bunk beds(1606), since was perfect size and it seems everything is condos now in pcb! Anyway, saw the reviews on this site and though "uh oh!"; but deposit was down and we went for it. I'm very glad we did. Now, we were a bit off season (10/8-10/13) but everything was still open for bike week on the strip and the condo (central) was fairly crowded. However, we had plenty of available carts, elevators were plentiful and fast, parking was fine, and security could not have been nicer. They fixed the safe in my parent's room (breaker problem we probably would have found eventually) right away. The beach and pool were wonderful with great weather. Staff was helpful ("loaned" us coffee filters and extra dishwasher soap) and helped with finding great places to eat. We did not have issues with thievery, but we did put everything in the safes when we left (just like at any hotel). Rooms were clean when we got there and there were plenty of towels. The extra charges are a bit off putting (nearly $300 on top of the rates all together) but that is becoming the norm most places (Miami, pcb, myrtle) with condos rather than the "refundable " damage deposit. Also, the wrist bands are a drag-should be another way to monitor access but it was a minor issue. Overall we had a great time and would stay here again!!! May try to book with the owners next time if possible to avoid some of the extra charges, but book it worked fine and that would not stop us from returning!

I was a little hesitant about renting a cono at the Boardwalk based on all of the negative reviews.
First off, we did not get robbed, we did not get bed bugs, it was not filthy.
I think a lot of the negative reviews are of the two hotels in the Boardwalk complex and not of the condos.
The Boardwalk is a nice place it just needs a fresh coat of paint.
My wife & I rented a 3 br unit for 5 adults and we had plenty of room and everyone enjoyed themselves for the week that we were there.
My only complaint would be with the rental agency (Emerald Coast Destinations).
We had a unit on the 8th floor and had a very good view of everything.
We saw dolphins and manta rays every day.
It was great to sit on the balcony each morning watching them.
Don't let the bad reviews put you off if you are considering renting here.
