My wife and I have been coming to this campground for the last 7 yearsand would consider ourselves to be good customers of any business,Quiet, easy going, and not afraid to spend a dollar, We made reservations in August for Feb. for the same Handicap lot we had always parked our camper in for years. We confermed the deal and the lot was the same money $500.00 for the month. We arrived there on the 1st at 11;00 am, and went in to register. Low and behold a new manager smiling and happy, presented me with a bill for $650.00 and told me if I didn't want to pay the new rate they would find me 3 more lots that were cheaper. I spoke to the owner Ispoke to both owners
and the BATE AND SWITCH WAS ON. These folks are pro's back up all your dealings w/ a hard copy e-mail or letter BEWARE THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED. It was not only me I saw 8-10 folks just leave rather than be SCREWED. I talked to some other long timers and the same thing happened to them. BEWARE,BEWARE,BEWARE. For info contact me via e-mail bobgear@sbcglobal.net. Pissed and honest.

We decided a spur of the moment trip with our dear neighbors. We decided to sleep in a tent a "rough" it for 2 nights with 3 kids ages 2-10 in tow. LOL!!! To our surprise the kids and us adults had the time of our lives!!! There is a nice playground for kids and 2 swimming pools and since we were TENT camping one of the pools is directly across from the tent area and at night after the kids were asleep us adults would go for a nights swim and we could see our camping area from the pool. We are planning a trip in Oct also and are going back there. We saw racoons, a rooster, squirrell and many other beautiful animals while camping. You would NOT be disappointed!!! You are so close to shipwreck Island that you can walk to it also.

We (3 adults and two small children) recently stayed at the Racoon River Campground. To begin with the roads of the campground are not paved and there are way to many trees to try to get around to each campsite! It was really hard to try to get a large motorhome into one of those spots! Next the bath houses were awful! There was mold and mildew all over the shower curtain, and, were so small that you could hardly turn around. The only good things were the swimming pools, very nice and the area was really close to the beach (just across the main road, which was difficult to cross at times). We would not stay at this campground again!

This could really be a nice campground but needs much improvement!

Bathrooms, showers, particulary the womens were extremely dirty. There was mold growing in them and the drains were clogged, meaning that you would be standing in someone elses bath water. yuck! The playground has this slide type of thing that had the word Dangerous spray pating on it. The thing was falling apart. This place is not all bad. The location is great and with a little elbow grease it can be great. This was the /forth of July weekend. If they wanted to give a great impression, this was the time to do it because the campground was very busy. It's a shame cause I won't be back.

i stayed here several times,it is close to most local fun,and you can walk to the water park,if the bathhouses were made larger that would be nice, but in this ecomony i would stay with racoon river, save a ton and have a great trip home and have the money for one more round of summer fun.if this campground was beach front it would be super they need a walking trail to the beach or a shuttle to the beach that would be nice on the hour.and the girls are the same here as they are in the high price motels and condos.

My family came down to Racoon River camp Ground for our 1st ever camping trip and we really loved it. The people were really nice and everything was really clean. We will be planning another trip in September or October.

Wow this place is bad. Just returned, campground is rough and dated, needs some bigtime upkeep. Roads are very bad inside, spring breakers were pretty well behaved. The owners have done little to keep this place up. Need to pour concrete pads. Bathhouses need to be redone completely. Maintenance worker approached my wife and 11 year old and informed them there was [---] in the pool and to get out, thanks for the classiness in front of my daughter. We won't be back. Lot's of other places to choose from for the price here. Walk to the beach isn't too bad but the only good part was when the pool was shocked and cleaned. The rest needs a bulldozer. Very strange that it gets so many great reviews from those who have only posted once. Hmmmm...
