“Third time staying - Only and Last Time during Spring Break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Sugar Sands appears to be a Independent owned Hotel operated by a management company. This is the third time we have stayed there and our experience on the condition of the hotel is basically the same each time, It is located on the West end of PCB away from the crowds and parties. Almost no traffic this end of the beach, even during Spring Break - This maybe good and bad as the three nights / four days we were there I never saw a Police Vehicle drive by or for this matter anywhere between the hotel and 98A to the west end - Winn Dixie.
Hotel is starting to show the wear and tear of the beach weather - lots of rust in the rooms and outside - old outdated appliances and fixtures - lots of mold.

Plus is the price, location and employees, whom were and always are friendly and there seems to be lots of them.
Our first night there as we drove into the parking lot we were met by three young male in their 20's smoking Pot right in the parking lot - they along with two other rooms would sit out on the balcony's each night smoking - the first night as soon as I walked out on to the balcony the rooms to the left and right were both urinating off the balcony's (all this at 6pm) at least after the first night those two rooms left and it was quite except for the 420's below us.

Again the hotel has gone through so updating be a few rooms have not

We did not have reservations, just stopped by as we were travling south. The guys at the desk, David & Clay? Welcomed us with open arms and David even showed us a room to make sure we were comfortable with our stay here. We loved it and stayed additional nights. The pool, hot tub are beach front and rooms face the ocean. The desk guys gave us great tips on where and what to do! We also like this spot because it is not a busy section of the beach and it gave us a feel of our own little beach house. Great family spot!!!! Thanks again front desk and we will be back next year.

Room Tip: The A unit is the best!!! with large balcony.

Our Family has been staying here a couple times a year, for over 20 years.
If your going for a Beautiful Beach, nice deck, clean pool, and Hot tub this is your place!
Rooms are large enough, but in needed of maintenance.
This hotel is located far west from most attractions ,but with plenty of Beach room.
A quick drive on Beach Back road brings you in to the busy areas.

We visited over Spring Break. I liked the fact that the hotel was away from the wild spring breakers. The hotel needed a lot of updates. Pool was nice. Hot tub was very small. The showers coming from the beach had leaky hoses. Laundry facility needs a change machine. Parking is very tight. With some remodeling, this would be a very nice hotel. I would probably not stay there again.

The location is ON the Beach and that is a fantastic plus. Otherwise nothing to brag about, but the location make up for the rest. The hotel needs renovation, specially the kitchen was ready to be thrown out, but all-in-all, for the money it was great as we only stayed for one night.

This is an excellent location, on the beach. Quiet area (west end). The rooms are spacious (had a King/Queen) with a kitchenette. The balcony is roomy and beautiful view of the ocean. Could do without the runoff area though.

This hotel needs a renovation.

Room Tip: first floor gives you direct access to the beach

Okay, we went down there because my older son's baseball team was going.....this place was offered by the owner of the place my son was staying with his team. Evidently, they are friends, could be the same owner as far as I know. Anyway, we booked here at Sugar Sands, my husband and I and our other 2 children. We stayed in the so called 'refurbished' tower. We were in 514, top floor, plan A, 1 bedroom apartment. Size of the room was great, including kitchen area. If this room is the idea of refurbished, it was done in the 70's style, I guess. The carpet was indoor/outdoor, dark blue and still dirty.... the bathroom was the worst..... The tub was suppose to be white, but was dingy and the facuets were old. In facuet in the bathroom was dirty and cracked, picture being posted. No hairdryers or shampoo. I should have done my homework prior to going and had to purchase these things when arriving. The balcony railing paint was all chipping and the fire sprinklers were rusted to nothing, pictures being posted. Someone had put miller beer bottle tops on the ends of them. I'm sure they wouldn't work at all if necessary.....The only nice about the place was the view, mentioned in someone elses reviews. The staff was nice, but you would think for the money, they would spend some on the place. The paint job inside was okay, but when they had to touch up they just ran a roller over the spot, picture being posted. The shower curtain was just a shower liner and it was torn.... the towel rack was hanging by it's last thread, picture being posted. There were no ice machines either. Other families room (which I saw) had no shower head. Again, the size of the room was great, but we won't be staying there ever again, the place is a dump! Old, gross, dark and dingy.............

Room Tip: Keep looking and find another place, unless you like roughing it!
