If you want to get away from the congestion that is the heart of PCB, stay here. It was a quiet, relaxing stay.
We were on the 'cabana level'. That is the level where the pool and hot tub are located. Our trip was in October, the hotel wasn't too busy and it was nice having the pool practically right outside our door. This might not be the case during a busy time of year.
The only downside was the stairs. Loading and unloading was a little difficult with the steep narrow stairs. If they are going to be a problem for you, you might want to ask for a room on the street level or where the elevator is available to your room.
There is an added advantage to being street level or higher, the view from the balconies. There were dolphins playing in the water while we were there and I would have loved to be staying higher with a better view.
This hotel was still being renovated when we were there. I expect it will be great when they are through. Our room had been redone. There was a nice comfortable mattress with comfortable and attractive bedding, a full size fridge and microwave in the room and a sofa that I assume folds out into a bed.
Since it is an older hotel being refurbished, the bathrooms are small. However they are completely redone and nice.
I know they were talking about reopening their snack bar but at the time of our trip there were no dining options on site. There is a little diner across the street that seemed very popular with the locals so we gave it a try. It's a meat and two veggies kind of place and the food was actually very good. You could also grab a burger there but it is strictly breakfast and lunch. They close early.
Winn Dixie, CVS, etc are in a shopping center maybe a half mile to a mile away, a little too far to walk but a quick trip in a car if you need to pick up supplies.
Overall, it's a nice place and we will definitely be staying there again.

My husband and I booked our room reservations six months ago and asked for an ocean view room. Very disappointed with the view and the loud and ugly construction outside of our bedroom window. We left our three kids, payed around $1000 to get here and $240 plus tax for the hotel.

The staff is friendly, the pool is sparkling, the beach is clean and no party crowds here! We were in the remodeled section. seems all these rooms have a full size fridge, microwave, coffee, new carpets and tile, new furniture, and flat screen tvs. The comfy beds are worth a mention too! My favorite part is how this hotel doesn't use the cheapest toilet paper they can find, nice touch!

We arrived to Panama City looking for something away from all of the commercial stuff... just wanted a nice quiet place to relax on the beach for a week or so. The Grand Cayman was a delightful surprise and the price was wonderful.
Had I read any of the reviews prior to coming... i probably would have passed this little gem up... thank goodness I did not!
The first room we were given was BEAUTIFUL ... king bed right on the first floor with the beach and pool... however we needed a kitchenette ... so we were given a room on the 3rd floor. It was perfect! Watching the dolphins play in the water every morning from our balcony was special ... something we looked forward to every morning.
Mandi the supervisor, was so helpful and extremely considerate of taking care of our requests. She was very helpful and always had a smile. As a business owner, its nice to see when employees truly care about their company.
I love this place and intend to return on my next visit to Panama City Beach.
