“OKAY but do not expect much!!!!”

Landmark Holiday Beach Resort

Apr 28, 2008

We stayed at this resort the week of April 19th and I must say it was disappointing. We exchanged through RCI which listed this resort as a Gold Crown Resort. I must wonder if RCI has checked out this resort in the last 20 years if at all. It most certainly is NOT a Gold Crown.
It is run down ( although they are trying to paint and make it look better) and leaves alot to be desired. What updating they have done inside the units is OK but the work inside was never finished. Lots of pieces of molding and wood not finsihed. The kitchen is very old and with outdated appliances. The cookware was dirty and we had to clean it before use. The dishwasher did not clean the dishes so we had to wash by hand. The bathrooms are so old that you wonder what year they were put in. And the toilets in both baths had problems. Plus other problems light fixtures not connected etc.

NOW for the better part. The view is great right on the gulf and the indoor pool is very nice and always clean. The beds are new and very comfortable and the units were a good size.
SO if you are looking for an OK place to stay this is it but do not expect any type of luxury.

We stayed at the Landmark by exchanging our points with Bluegreen. Only after making our reservations did they mention that there might be a little noise and dust from the remodeling and construction that will be going on at the Landmark. They made it sound like it would be minimel so we kept our reservation. We arrived on a Saturday so the place was quiet. Sunday was quiet as well, but come Monday morning the noise was so loud that you couldn't even hear the TV! Even having a normal conversation meant you had to literally yell to each other. I was hoping to relax at this resort, but with hammer drills and jack-hammers ratteling right outside the door and upstairs, relaxing was simply out of the question. From approximately 8:00AM until 5 - 5:30PM it was nothing but loud noise. And I mean LOUD. This went on all week, including the following Saturday. Personally we felt that they should have just closed the place down and did their remodeling instead of thinking the guests wouldn't mind all the clatter. What a disapointment. The place really does need improvements, so remodeling is a good idea. But don't try fooling the guests into thinking they won't be bothered by the dust, dirt and loud noise. If you're thinking of staying at the Landmark, be sure to ask if they will be doing any construction. If they're still working on the place, do yourself a favor and go stay some place else.

“We had a wonderful time!”

Landmark Holiday Beach Resort

My husband and I stayed at the Landmark for a week in October for out 25th anniversary. We had a one bedroom on the 2nd floor. You walked in on the second floor but the downstairs was the living room, kitchen and patio that walked directly onto the beach! The convenience to the beach out weighted ANY and ALL other complaints we had. The furnishings and carpet were definitely dated but we loved the closeness to the beach. Every night we walked out onto the beach watched the sunset. I would definitely go there again strictly on the basis of the beach access, after all that 's where we spent most of our time!

Someone forgot to tell our HomeWeek Resort we were coming and RCI found Landmark as an alternate location for our family of 4 vacation. Wow - what a relief. We stayed on the 15th floor and nothing could be more beautiful for a view in the panhandle.

We found the 2 br's and common areas without disappointment. One impression that we got was that the units were owned by a bluehair crowd and most had been owners for many years. They had water arobics in the indoor pool every morning at 9, the kids could play down on the beach w/o close supervision, and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

The only recommentdation I would leave the management would be to get a faster elevator.

It was a great place to invite friends to and we would consider staying again and possibly buying too!

My family and I had stayed at the Landmark through RCI about 20 years ago and had a wonderful stay, so when we planned our trip for this year I immediately thought of the Landmark. We rented through an owner and got a great deal for Easter week. My 4 year old son and I arrived a day early and were pleasantly surprised when the front desk staff allowed us to check in a day early. Let the vacation begin! Unfortunately when we opened the door to our 2-bedroom unit, we were greeted by an incredibly unpleasant odor in the unit, filthy floors and bathrooms, a large piece of the refrigerator that had broken off, and burners off the stove. When we realized that there were no working TV remotes in the unit, I called down to the front desk to have maintenance come up with some working remotes. The maintenance man did show up right away, but he reaked of booze and smoke. I can't tell you how unnerving that was especially being alone with my son. I have to say that he was quite nice and helpful and he was also upset at the condition of the unit. Needless to say, I called the front desk to see if we could be moved. They were nice enough to move us to a different unit that wasn't much better than the first unit. Again, we arrived to find another unpleasant odor in the unit, things in various states in disrepair, mold on the ceiling, filthy carpets, bird poop all over the balconies, dust covering the tables... Shall I continue?? The pillows were hospital grade; covered in plastic with cheap sheets and pillowcases, guest bathroom was dimly lit with a bath tub that didn't drain. The unit was stocked with one roll of toilet paper per bathroom and when we ran out, I checked with the front desk and she informed me that "it would be cheaper if I went out and bought some myself". Even the crustiest of hotels provide rolls of toilet paper for free!! The furniture, carpet, kitchen appliances, etc. have not been changed in these units in 20 years.

Needless to say, regardless of the "good deal" you might get, I won't recommend staying here unless they have a complete overhaul.
