We were traveling in July with 2 families, staying one week in Destin, and then traveling to Panama City to drop our kids off at BigStuff Camp in Panama City. We found the resort over the internet, and it looked fantastic. We booked three condos...all three were filthy. One of them was roach infested. One unit had a large black oily looking stain over the shower. It looked like the ceiling was about to fall in. The other unit had pubic hair all over the bathroom fixtures, including the towels. One of the condos did not lock. It looked like someone had tried to pry the door off the hinges. There was one luggage cart per highrise...so needless to say, you could not get a cart to transport your things. Seriously, it was so bad that we called American Express Concierge in desperation trying to find ANYWHERE else to stay, but there was nothing available to accommodate the size of our party on the necessary dates. Also, please note that the rates charged are comparable with those charged by 4 star resorts. What a joke! This is positively the worst place I have ever had to endure. I strongly recommend that you find other accommodations.

I was scheduled to stay 4 nights for a conference and took my family. We enjoyed it so much we stayed one more night. Our room was on the 9th floor on the beach with a great view. The 2 bedroom condo was clean and well maintained. The higher the room on the beach side the better the view. Lower level rooms may not get the best Gulf view. They have a pool for each building and all are clean. The large pool below tower 1 is the best. The conference rates were great. Not sure if the regular rates are as good. Late August must be out of the peak season because it was not crowded even at the pools during the day.

My wife and I had our wedding at Edgewater and I was a little skeptical after reading the reviews but it ended up being a wonderful experience. You have to understand where you are (Panama City Beach Florida, not Maui) and that this resort is designed for families to vacation.

We had a lot of friends and family traveling from California and everyone enjoyed themselves with some minor complaints on the rooms overall it was a great experience. Everything from the rooms and food to the wedding facilities were great.

The Good:
The Edgewater Beach resort was a wonderful hotel offering alot of ammenities. We stayed on the gulf side in more of a villa accommodation and had a farily easy walk across a resort bridge over the street to the beach side and larger pool area. The larger pool was wonderful and our kids enjoyed the time there immensely. The rooms were beautiful and ours appeared to be recently redecorated. The location of the resort was wonderful. Check out was easy & fast!

The 'Could Improves'
The check in took longer than I would have preferred, but once acknowledged we were quickly accommodated and even allowed to check in early. There are NO hairdryers in the rooms as stated on the site. You can goto the front desk and request one, but this was very inconvenient since we were on the other side of the resort and street. The golf cart drivers were very rude and literally almost ran us over twice with no remorse. I thought pedestrians had right-of-ways. Our commode was not flushing so we made a service call. We only stayed a night, but it was never fixed during the stay.
