We stayed in the Bluebelle building in early July. The two bedrooms, two baths, full kitchen, and large living area villa was beautifully decorated and well-appointed. Everything was spotless and appeared to be new.
We enjoyed the pool and the really large hot tub. The propane gas grills by the pools were "turned on" during the day so that you don't have to worry about bringing charcoal.
We enjoyed the dive-in movie nights at the Marriott hotel nearby. The movies were shown on a movie screen right by the main pool.
Yes, there was construction right next to the Bluebelle building, but we didn't think the noise was too bad.
To get to a real beach, you do have to drive off the property. We went to St. Andrews State Park and swam by the jetty. The water on the Gulf side was so clear, the sand was so white - we stayed too long because we didn't want to leave the beach.
As guests (and not timeshare owners), we had complementary daily maid service. They loaded/unloaded the dishwasher, replaced the towels, didn't make the beds, but was nice to have the villa spiffed up.
We ate at Captain Jack's seafood buffet - the crab legs were very good.
A local resident recommended Uncle Ernie's in Panama City. We had lunch there and enjoyed the grilled grouper sandwich and the fried soft shell crab sandwich. The sandwiches were served on croissants, not french bread.
We went to Shell Island via a tour on the Ashley Gorman. Be aware that any shuttle to Shell Island is expensive. Even the shuttle provided at and by the state park was expensive - $11.50 for an adult. And, nothing is provided. However, Shell Island (the Gulf side, not the bay side) is full of shells and sand dollars! Of course, what's available depends on the weather activity going on in the Gulf!
Oh, the tour on the Ashley Gorman provided "dinner". Dinner was a turkey and cheese sandwich, chips, and a watered down soda drink. For kids, it was a hot dog, chips, and soda. It was a three hour tour: 1 hour to get to Shell Island, 1 hour on Shell Island, and 1 hour to get back. Can't understand why it takes so long to get to Shell Island. Anyway, dinner isn't served until we're heading back so we didn't eat until 7-ish. By this time, the kids were starving. Of course, there were chips and candies for sale on board. I don't think we'll be taking this tour again. But, you have to go to Shell Island at least once.
We liked this place so much that we went ahead a bought another vacation for next year.
Overall, we had fun on this trip and would definitely stay at the Legend's Edge again.
