“Smokers paradise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

Last minute beach trip, leslie in the office was helpful with our booking. Reviews sounded good even though we would not normally stay at a place like this. Upon arrival the front looks terrible, walking to the room we passed lots of smokers outside their rooms. Walking into the room it reeked of cigarette smoke....yuck. The office informed us that they did not have a non-smoking room option. We visited 4 rooms and all but the one right next to the bar three feet away smelled bad. The view was great and the room appeared clean but very old with updated linens. The staff assured us that they could place an ionizer in the room and it would take care of the smell. If their were any other options to move to on the beach that was better we would have moved, loosing a nights rental fee. We went too the grocery and bought febreeze air freshener and we tolerated it. outside you always smelled smoke....on the beach and just walking too the car. Could be a nice value family motel if a little cleaner and NO smoking.

The entire staff were very courteous and professional. One gentleman even helped my husband carry a heavy cooler to the truck and would NOT accept a penny from us, even though I insisted he let us pay him. A manager named Denise was so thoughtful and kind -- she refunded my unused stay (due to me getting sick); although she did not have to. I only wish that more businesses could employ such a fine group of people. The rooms were super clean and updated. I always saw people out cleaning and scrubbing. Definately a keeper! Will stay again!!!---Cindy

I stayed at the Chateau with my three children - ages 13,9, and 7 for three days. It is a very basic hotel, but it sits right on the beach. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was small, with low water pressure and poor lighting. However, the kids and I loved waking up and walking right out to the beach. Then when they got tired of the beach, we had the motel pool right there! I was a little nervous about the place when we pulled up, but there were lots of families there at the time and for the most part we enjoyed our stay. I strongly suggest you have your own vehicle. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but not much! Free Wi-Fi is a bonus!!!

" We stayed for five days during bike week and had wonderful fun time. The rooms were very clean and the housekeeping staff were very pleasant and accomadating along with everyone else that we encountered working at the Chateau. The room being beach front was great! We were able to watch the sun set every night and walk on the beach in the mornings. We are already planning our trip for next year. We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends."

If you are going to stay here, skip the workout in the gym. The stairs to get to anywhere around the hotel will give you a workout.
Forget about using your internet, on the ground level beach side- no connection at all.
Phone cell service not good either.
We got a very nice clean beach front room. Mere steps away from the beach.
Three big sets of steps to get down to our room, worth hauling the luggage for.
Had a problem getting the right price for the room.
We had heard that the gulf region was hurting for tourists, but the hotels around the area including this one were not willing to deal.
My tip " FIND A TRAVEL COUPON BOOK AT THE FLORIDA WELCOME CENTER, then
use the coupon for this hotel. But make sure that they honor it without hasseling you.
The room was nice, clean, the towels could have been bigger.
Overall the place was a good place to stay and we will stay here again in the future.

I drive by hundreds of hotels to stay at the Chateau every year! We get a clean room with a full kitchen and a hearty welcome every time we come. The heated pool and sun tanning deck are perfect for my family because we can cook out on the free gas grill and kick back on the hammock.

And than there is the beautiful sunsets on the well manicured beach.

We always brag on the Chateau and recommend them to all who tell me they are headed in that direction.

We really enjoyed the motel stay. It was very clean well kept. If we needed anything they were very helpful. Front desk was very friendly and ready to help us with any information we needed such as good restaurants and sites to see. We really enjoyed our stay will use them again.
