“Emerald Beach Resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

This was our first trip to Panama City Beach. At this time of year it's more of a high school/college party town and not suitable for families with young kids.
Emerald Beach Resort's is a large and the layout is confusing upon arrival but once you figure it out, though time consuming, it's easy to get around. The resort is located within walking distance of Sharkey's restaurant which was a pleasant surprise. Not much else within walking distance, but lot's of great places a short drive away. Since we'd be arriving at night, I called the week before to arrange grocery service but the staff was clueless and did not offer to find out. After arriving we found a Super Target and a Walmart [via a phone app] a mile away. Be warned that because of the layout you need to get a hotel cart to get your groceries to your room.
Upon arrival we found our rental to be extremely dirty. The walls had staines and marks on them and the carpet [why have carpet in a Florida rental??] was stained and filthy. Lamps were broken or not working. Even though the place was spacious and had a great view of the ocean the nice amenities were overshadowed by the disgusting/gross carpeting. We'd not even let our kids walk around without their shoes. We reported this to the front desk and were told that a work order was put in for carpet cleaning. Five days into our 7 day stay the carpet had still not been cleaned. So, we checked out 2 days early.

The website states there is Wi-Fi which is misleading. Wi-Fi is only on the Skybridge. The rooms do have internet via an ethernet cable [that our room did not have].

The beach was nice and there was a chair rental service. There are two pools, we preferred the beach side pool that was heated and had a Tiki Hut. Believe it or not the resorts security guys were the best experience [Emerald Beach Resort staff wise] they were pleasant, friendly and opened the gates and doors for us.

It is pricey, which would lead you to trust that for the price your rental unit would be clean and updated but this is not the case. So unless you are college age spring breakers don't waste your money at Panama City Beach Emerald Beach Resort.

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean and have balconies. Unless you are on the top floor you will hear your neig...

I stayed here for a short weekend during spring break. Everything else was booked so I rented unit 1232 through Expedia. The room was very spacious. All rooms have gulf views, the unit's kitchen was fully equipped. The furniture was dated but I didn't take issue with that. The sleeper sofa bed mattress was stained. The walls and carpet was just filthy!!! I've never seen anything like it!! All points taken off were for cleanliness.

A Friend and I went down here in March and were pretty excited and a little nervous. I knew it was spring break but we were at the other end of the strip and according to the locals we got in town a week before it really gets crazy. I guess we should have been more prepared of what we were walking into but for the money I paid and having to pay extra fees for cleaning I was kind of pissed. Next to The couch the bunk bed and the King size bed all had puke. it wasn't even like it had been vacuumed or wet vacuumed and the carpet was just stained. It hadn't been cleaned at all. I was discussed but there was really nothing we could do about it. I also took a knife out of the kitchen and it was sticky which was also disgusting. I was worried about what I would walk into in Panama city and am glad we only booked the hotel for 3 nights. There is only a gift shop and Starbucks for food. Go next door to The little family pizza joint. It is awesome and the owners are nice our pizza was amazing I think it was called Stallone's? some thing with an S

Room Tip: All of the rooms I was told face the beach so there is not a bad one at this part of the resort

Four of us spent the last week of Feb & the 1st week of Mar in a 2 bdrm unit at the Wyndham PC Bch Emerald Beach Resort. The unit was clean, spacious & efficiently laid out with comfortable beds & a nicely equipped kitchen. The nicest part of the unit was the balcony that overlooked the pool, silky white beach & the emerald colored Gulf Of Mexico. At that time of yr some of the days were cool, but not cool enough to keep us away from the balcony & that incredible view. Before we went we read the reviews & saw some folks found the resort layout to be a hassle, but we didn't understand why. The owners were smart to use all the property on the Gulf side of the road for as many Gulf front units as possible & wisely put the parking garage, check-in, fitness center, sundries shop, Starbucks, etc across the street with an overpass to make them easily accessible. The Sky Bar is on the overpass itself - very nice. We didn't find the elevators or the escalator to be confusing or inconvenient. The pool is heated, but the air was a little cool for enjoying the pool most days, but the hot tub was wonderful & almost never empty. We even ordered a round of Pina Coladas to sip by the pool even though it was really too cool to need a cool down drink. The resort is a bit on the pricey side so we were surprised they didn't have a restaurant in the resort so you didn't have to get in the car so much, but once you are in the car there are plenty of restaurants within driving distance. The one really unexplainable shortcoming is the lack of wi-fi in the unit. The cheapest motels have in room wi-fi these days.

My boyfriend and I stayed December 15-19th. The place was great. We stayed in a two bedroom presidential suite which is located at the west end of the building. It was HUGE and beautifully decorated. We stayed on the 8th floor and that was perfect for us. Balcony overlooks the pool and Gulf. Easy access to the pool and beach. Heated pool and hot tub which was great to use in the middle of December. We were given this as a gift from Wyndham owners, when we arrived around noon our room was not ready, easy check in, directed to go to the other counter and got our wrist bands, asked if we had any questions, filled out some paperwork and were told they would call when the room was ready. We decided to go down to Pier Park as we have friends in Panama City Beach and they happened to be down there. Great outdoor mall, shops, restaurants and bars. Very festive. Hung out there for a couple of hours, received the call our room was ready, hit up the Winn Dixie down the road and went and got our room keys. The parking garage is across the street but it's very easy to load the luggage cart and find your way to the room. I can see this being an issue in season and if the place is packed but for us it was super easy. We were never bothered about buying a timeshare. I don't have one complaint about this trip except that it was too short. Right across the street is Jeannie's One Stop Diner which was excellent. We went our first morning there and were hooked. It's only 9 tables so I can see in season it would be packed and a long wait but well worth it. They were closed on Monday so we were bummed about that. Jeannie also owns the Second Stop Lounge a few doors down and that was fun Sunday evening for football and meeting the locals. All in all I highly recommend Wyndham Emerald Beach Resort. (off season as this was my only experience and it was wonderful)

My family rented a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit with bunk beds and a pullout couch. Overall it was a nice place for a week. The beds actually are more comfy than most hotels I've stayed at. There are a couple of little things -- no wi-fi in the unit, some dirty walls -- but all of that can be forgotten by looking out the window at the beach and ocean! The resort has activities for families as well as adults, and the pool is heated, which we appreciated in November. Parking is easy, and you can get to every sightseeing stop in minutes. Consider Unit 2130, as I can't speak to other units in the complex.
