I live in Panama City Beach and have been to Pompano's before, but was not very impressed. My date and i decided to try it again with the appetite for grouper. I called in advance to ask if they had fresh grouper and the girl who answered the phone put me on hold only to come back with "i don't know". we went ahead to eat, didn't have to wait but our server seemed uninterested in his job and was very short with us. i ordered my grouper grilled and when it came out i was shocked. i too work in a seafood restaraunt and i know what fresh grilled grouper looks and tastes like. in front of me was tough chewy fish with white gooey stuff all over and i immediately knew that it was microwaved. i asked him if this was real grouper and he swore it was and that he sees the guys in the kitchen fileting it daily... if thats the case, then why didn't the girl on the phone know if it was fresh? i told him it looked and tasted like it was microwaved and he rolled his eyes and reassured me that it wasn't. to go to such a nice looking restaurant to get fresh seafood, i expected it to be cooked the way i asked. i paid for it and left but i will never go back again. EVER.
