I had a few time share points left for the year. I decided to book this resort, since I have not vacationed in this part of Florida before. We arrived after a fun weekend on Sunday. The check in was very prompt and the service was great. I expressed my concern about having a quiet condo because i am a light sleeper. Since I booked a high floor, I was then moved to the 20th floor. From the check-in desk I was sent to the Concierge Desk to get my parking pass. The young lady there tried to set up an appointment for a member update and I said no, because I was only there for a few days and I needed some relaxation. Her remark to me was rude and none of her business. I told her do not call me and disturb me with invitations, offers, etc. That didn't work. They started calling the next morning and continued until I unplugged the phone. We went back to the desk the next day for directions and the same lady ignored us. Lawrence saw us standing there and took care of our requests.
My unit was clean and well furnished. The bedroom and bath was a little smaller than most of the Wyndham Resorts where I've stayed before. The next time I would request a deluxe unit where there will be two bathrooms. For grandchildren or small children the bunk beds in the hall was really cute. Since we had only two people, we didn't need the beds. Our view of The Gulf of Mexico was awesome. The balcony had a table and chairs and a lounger. It is ideal for enjoying a meal or a glass of wine in the evening.
We went to one of the Publix stores to get sandwich makings and breakfast food. Winn Dixie is closer. We dined at the Pier two nights at the German Pub and Reggae J's at the Pier Plaza. It was okay food and priced for tourist. We ate lunch one day at the Italian Restaurant next door to the resort. Remember that they require cash only. They have an ATM machine in the restaurant. The food was tasty, but a little too salty for my taste. The best meal that we ate was at Firefly. They have a Tuesday night special during Happy Hour, where Martini's are $5.00 and they have an Early Bird Dinner until 7:00. The ambiance and food was better than some of the fancy places that we eat in South Beach at a fraction of the cost. The Calamari, Seafood Newburg, and Crab CAkes were great. The She Crab Soup is a MUST!
Since this was the off season, there's no competition for Beach space. There were very few kids on the beach. It was truly a relaxing vacation, but we couldn't sleep. We were sleepy early and went to bed, but woke up about three a.m. When I would attempt to go back to sleep around 5 or 6 a.m., people would start rolling those loud luggage carts outside my bedroom window. Between the maintenance people, cleaning people, the sales people, and people checking out, you won't sleep late. This was my only displeasure.
