It was like death by a thousand cuts. I left after about 500! I checked-in, carried my baggage to the room and the keycard didn’t work. Annoyance #1. Next I find out their advertised "wireless internet" is only in the lobby, not in your room. Who wants to do their on-line business in the lobby? The room was sort of okay, but the ceiling had an ugly stucco texture with a huge dark stain right above the bed – not very appealing. And the tub was lipstick red – which definitely did not match the rest of the décor. Not a big deal but the advertised TV in the bathroom was an old Black & White model from the 70’s. Also the microwave & coffee pot were in the bathroom! As I got into the shower I discovered I had 2 conditioners but no shampoo. I guess the worst was the breakfast buffet. It was absolutely awful! I’ve eaten at several breakfast buffets in Holiday Inns before and they’re usually pretty good – usually there is an omelet bar where you can get freshly cooked eggs & they always put a carafe of OJ on your table. Not this buffet. All precooked food in warming trays. The scrambled eggs had cheese in them (yuck), the biscuits were dry and hard, the sausage was obviously reheated so many times so they were hard and tested rancid. The grits were too salty to eat. The melon was rotten. The milk was sour. Bottom line is there was nothing to eat. We asked for orange juice and received an 8 ounce glass, and were charged for a “Large Orange Juice”. Apparently the OJ is not included in the buffet – unusual especially for Florida. We had to get up earlier that we wanted because we were told the buffet was only served from 7:00 to 9:00 AM, but actually it was still being served at 10:00 AM – it would have been nice to have been given correct information so we could sleep in Sunday morning. The hotel itself isn’t so bad, and the staff were friendly enough. You expect the occasional problem but it was just one annoyance after another – which you don’t expect on a vacation. Apparently there is no quality control in this hotel, or they're just too cheap to do it right! And it doesn’t seem to be a secret because the hotel was nearly empty on Labor Day Weekend. I was booked for 2 nights but I bailed after the first. I definitely would not recommend this hotel.
