“A great place for school field trips”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

This place is an export place to go for a day trip with a bunch of kids on a school field trip. Always the most interesting the animals review up close and personal and some of them you even get the touch. Don't miss it..

“great place to take your family before snorkeling/swimming in this area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

I have been taking college classes to GSML for years because it really helps people who are unfamiliar with the animals commonly found in shallow waters in this area become comfortable with swimming in the ocean. The touch tanks are great for small children who really want to put their hands in and touch everything. The sea turtles being rehabilitated in this facility are wonderful to see as well as the octopi. GSML is well worth the stop. If you have elementary school-aged children, the gift shop has tee shirts, books, and stuffed toys will become favorites.

“An astonishingly unique and unduplicated experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014 via mobile

BUCKET LIST! Put it on there. Jimmy Buffet supports the facility. This aquarium and lab is just a one of a kind place to visit. If you are looking for a Seaworld, where you can zombie-watch with no education or interaction, go there. If you are loving to learn and touch and become mini-marine biologists, come here. They have extensive touch tanks, shark and sea turtle tanks where you can stare eye to eye with loggerheads, and pick up horseshoe crabs and fiddler crabs. The staff of this non profit run, small lab is impressingly knowledgable. Go out of your way for this one.

“Fantastic Touch Tanks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

Twice now I have visited this Aquarium and both times I was very impressed by the overall aquarium, but especially the many touch tanks. I taught high school oceanography for 30 years and have visited most of the big aquariums in the USA. The touch tanks at Gulf Specimen Public Aquarium are the VERY BEST I've seen. Panacea is less than an hours drive SW of Tallahassee, FL and well worth your visit.

“Interesting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

We had mixed feelings about this place. The tanks of sea life were absorbing and we spoke with a young student who worked with the octopi and was fun and very informative.
Our reaction was that it could be much more enjoyable. The woman in the reception area verged on rude. Some of the audio-info buttons in the first building didn't work. Other members of the staff were available for a quick question, but not friendly or particularly helpful or informative. We get that it was out of season, and that they get a lot of their funding from sales of sea life to universities for study etc., so tourism is secondary, and that it was mid-week and raining, but still...we tend to love this kind of place, and left feeling let down.
