Came in on a neighborhood coupon book special (which, being new to Florida, is how we chose most of our dining). It was Wednesday and we were deliberating between which of the two Mexican restaurants on Hwy.19 who had coupons to try. El Texano's 'buy one, get one' Fajitas had the most appeal. the pleasant young woman who came to take our order said they offered a free margarita since this was our first visit. we pointed out that their coupon says, 'not to be combined with other offers' and said we'd prefer the BOGO Fajitas and would order beers instead. she insisted and brought two delicious Margaritas along with tasty chips and salsa, gratis, that we had to refrain from eating in order not to ruin our appetite. The fajitas were good and well-presented, our only complaint being that, while they came with beans and rice, there was no guacamole or sour cream served alongside. This may have been an oversight we should have mentioned to our server, but hey, it would have been awkward if these, then, had cost extra. My husband DID ask, as he always does, for jalapenos to be brought on the side and there was no charge for these (as there often has been). The restaurant is spacious and even if crowded would be conducive for conversation. The bill was delightfully under $10, but one could see from the menu that even without the aforementioned specials, a meal with a couple of beers would also be reasonable. We tipped on the value of two fajita meals and two margaritas, polite where coupons or specials are involved; considering the warm and pleasant service it was more than warranted. While Florida's fare isn't as good as that we found while living in Texas, we would return to El Texano in the future when we have a craving for Mexican food.
