My wife and I wanted to treat my Mother and her husband to a special dinner as a thank you for a lovely visit. We chose Mystic Fish because of the reviews on Trip Advisor. Our dinner and experience were both superb.
We made a reservation for 6:30pm and because of light traffic arrived around thirty minutes early. The restaurant was very busy but they found us a good table right away and we never had to wait to be seated.
The waitress was very prompt and the drinks and HOT fresh rolls were out immediately. The butter was infused with herbs and garlic and was very good; so good that we asked for another round of bread!
Our waitress then explained the menu and the evening specials for both entrees and appetizers. The entree special was a Flounder that was dusted in bread crumbs and spices and grilled whole.
My wife ordered the grouper picante, I had the special, and my Mom ordered the mixed grill of grouper and mahi mahi. house salads and choice of mashed potatoes or rice were included with the entree. They had special salads that were priced as extras so we stayed with the standard salad. The salad was OK nothing special; the dressings were good though.
The reason we chose this restaurant was for the fish and they did a splendid job with the entrees. My flounder was amazing and the waitress took the time to explain the most practical way to enjoy this delicacy by demonstrating how to remove the fish from the bone. The potatoes had great flavor and consistency but should have been warmer. The vegetables were drab and really needed some TLC to compliment the fish. We did come for fish though and no one was disappointed. My wife's grouper was the dish I will order the next time we visit Florida. I will compare all other grilled fish against my Mom's grouper and Mahi.
The only part of the dinner that was lacking was the wine service. The selections were moderate to limited. My wife ordered a second glass of wine and instead of bringing a fresh glass they brought a mini carafe and refilled the original. I found this a bit tacky.
Managers made the mandatory inquiries and were actually listening. I always say something that will make them smile and if they respond with a standard answer I know that the questions were asked as a mandatory requirement and they really are not listening. These guys passed with flying colors and I am sure that they are really making sure that everyone is enjoying their dining experience.
I would recommend this place to anyone. This is a great restaurant!

My wife and I recently went to Mystic Fish. The service was good, nothing special, but the food was absolutely awful. We ordered the Shrimp and Scallops and the “Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes”. The shrimp and scallops were served with an angel hair like pasta and were very bland with close to no taste. The presentation was also something to be desired as the vegetables were uncooked, and we received two scallops and two shrimp with way too much tasteless, plain pasta. Though terrible, this was not the worst entrée. The “Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes” were not actually crab cakes but more like raw fish patties. Anyone from the north-east should know what a real crab cake taste and/or look like (me hailing from Maryland). These were burnt on top and bottom, white on the sides (yes, pure white, my initial thought was maybe it was white rice wrapped around the patties) and no taste but that of a raw fish. The meat appeared to be imitation crab meat or a shredded type of fish meat. Either way, they were not anywhere near being a “Jumbo Lump Crab Cake”. Even the smell of these awful things was sickening. The entrée included two of these disgusting patties along with mashed potatoes. Until my visit to Mystic Fish I was unaware that someone could mess up a serving of mashed potatoes as bad as these were. They were lumpy and had a tangy, odd taste. The prices are absolutely astounding for the food that was served. If the prices were cut in half and I was assured my food would be cooked next time, I would still not eat at this restaurant again (and I only live three minutes away). The only appetizing part of the entire ordeal was the bread that was served before the entrée’s came out.

I am very picky about where I spend my money. Especially for food, I would not hesitate to recommend Mystic Fish to anyone. The service was excellent, food was expertly prepaired. Seating is a little tight but not a problem at all once the food starts rolling out of the kitchen. Thanks so much for a special evening with my family. I will with out a doubt be back.
