“nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We 4 adults were very comfortable in the large airy unit. We appreciated washer/dryer, screened porch, dish washer and gorgeous master bath with large jacuzzi tub. The view out the back porch was lovely--a little stream and fountain, and nice trees. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub in the evening under the stars. The pool was a good temp for swimming and clean & refreshing.
We loved the bike trail which starts right at the resort, follows the intercoastal water way, then winds around a very interesting swamp area with lush vegetation and cool boardwalks over the swamp to ride along! ( keep your eyes peeled for alligators! )The whole route from Legacy out through the swamp and back was an easy, breezy 13 miles on flat ground that took 2 1/2 hours. We rented bikes from the marina at the resort.
The front desk staff were very helpful and good to us. They delivered supplies to us immediately after I called--things like more laundry detergent, paper towels. They even delivered coffee to us every morning free as a courtesy when I called.Hammock Beach is "untamed" and only 10 mins. away at most.
Saint Augustine was very close and we easily drove back and forth for sight seeing & dinner at great restaurants. Our favorites were Moorish Spanish Restaurant 95 Cordova, Columbia Spanish restaurant, sophisticated Tasting Room with live music & best food, Really FUN Conch House on the water, and SaltWater Cowboys which is uniquely Floridian!!
The resort is very quiet. We felt like we were the only ones there , but it was sold out Christmas week--when we were there. I guess people don't really hang out at the resort, but use it as a place to go out from.

Room Tip: all the units are exactly the same. All have similar views of water fountains, stream and trees out...

We booked our stay at the Legacy via Hotwire, so we weren't able to read reviews of the place beforehand. We were quite satisfied with Legacy, but not overwhelmed. The resort itself is old, and that's both good and bad. It's good because it means the condos are larger and cheaper. It's bad because it feels like you've arrived in 1985. The outside of the buildings is stucco, and seems out of date. However, you can see the insides have been updated with nice contemporary furnishings and paint. It was very clean, and well-stocked with towels, shampoos, and other necessities you'd find in a nice hotel. Behind our condo was a nice little pond with a fountain and big fish.

Here are my gripes about Legacy Vacation Resort:
Check in is between 4 and 7 pm only. We arrived at 7:15pm and had to check in using a phone next to the closed office. Also, the person who checked us in on that outside office phone didn't input my credit card correctly, so check out took 30 minutes.
The condos have 2 air conditioning units, one for the bedrooms and one for the living/kitchen area. The bedroom one broke, and they offered to either give us another condo or "divert the air into the bedrooms." We opted for the easier plan, which was for them to do the quick fix. It didn't work, so we suffered through sleeping in warm bedrooms.
The pool water was clean, but the bottom of the deep end looked scummy, as if the pool cleaner couldn't reach the bottom, so he didn't clean it. Yuck.

Now for the good points:
The pool and hot tub were OK. There was a nice waterfall at the pool, and the hot tub was REALLY hot. We visited in the off-season, so there were very few people at the resort, and even fewer people in the pool.
The fitness center is small, but the machines seem fairly new.
The location is pretty close to everything in the small town of Palm Coast. There's a beach nearby and the usual stretch of fast food, casual restaurants and other stores.

I might stay here again, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a bargain. On Hotwire, we actually paid the same as we would for a hotel room! The lady at the check out desk said they would match any price the other travel sites give you.

Room Tip: Get a good price by going in the off-season, make sure you check in before 7pm and that they have th...

We spent 2 nights here on an rci exchange and found the property adequate to our needs. The rooms are huge and all have a washer-dryer fridge microwave and even jacuzzi bath. However, the property is ageing and needs a little updating. With a little tlc this could be an exceptional place to vacation. Worth a visit but perhaps not as a high a standard as you could get elsewhere.

Stayed here with my husband and grandparents from 0825/2012-09/02/2012. Awesome stay!
The condo was very clean! The living room/dining room was very open and spacious! We cooked majority of our meals in the kitchen, what a money saver! Love the screened in porch, was extra roomy!
Palm Coast was close to all the local cities, perfect place to be kept away and not in the craziness of daytona or st augustine. The employees were great, always giving directions/ideas/recommendations on things to do around the area!
Amenities were more than enough. LOVED the pool! Not over crowded either! Liked how the pool table/game room was right next to the pool so the guys could go back and forth while the girls stayed at the pool. My only complaint was no ceiling fan in the "guest bedroom"...there was no air circulation so it was very HOTT at night for us!
Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here twice in the last 2 years and will be going again this year. It's so much nicer than a hotel room and the price was very reasonable. We enjoyed the pool, grilling and the fitness center.

I stayed at legacy vacations from 8/6-8/10. The grounds were well kept. The office and the area around the office was the wi-fi center. There was also 2 computers for guest to use. The office also rented Dvds also. The room that I stayed in was clean and spacious. The appliances worked and there was table settings for 6 people. The room also had 3 flat screen tvs. I was looking for a clean place close to the ocean and the legacy was more than adequate. I could not have stayed at the cheapest motels for what I paid at legacy. Hammock beach is about 10 minutes away. Is it the ritz? No but that's ok because I wasn't paying ritz money. I would definetly stay again.

Room Tip: Walmart is about 5 miles away.

We did not expect constant activities, the beach on the grounds or area attractions. We expected relaxation with a short drive for most anything we wanted to do. Unfortunately, it was just not up to snuff. The economy has hit Palm Coast in a bad way. The resort is run down. It is definitely relaxing and nicely laid out. The condos are spacious and we slept 3 adult couples comfortably with a substantial amount of space for unpacking and storage. The appliances are very old, however they worked even with the uneven eyes and unbelievable preheat times. The grounds are pretty and well laid out, but just BORING. There are no activities. They have a beautiful activities center but because they have cut back on staff, there is no one manning the activities center and you have to go to the office to get anything, like putters for putt putt, paddles for ping pong, etc. Unfortunately, the honor system does not work out well at this resort because many items "where not returned" or simply do not exist, like a volleyball for the volleyball court. They pool was dirty and did not smell the greatest. Now, let me also explain my perspective. My mother and step father bought at this resort over 20 years ago when it was a partner with the Sheraton or Hilton and fairly new. We have been back multiple times thru the years but had not been here in about 6 years. It is sad, honestly. Not only the resort, because it is ran down and like a ghost town, but the town of Palm Coast is just almost gone. There are more empty business than there is occupied. Golf in the area is cheap because it is off season and the courses are in great shape. I also want to clarify that it is not only Palm Coast that is suffering the economy, Daytona Beach looks like something out of a movie or the "old" part of Las Vegas. Every other hotel is out of business with huge numbers of restaurants with their doors closed. I started going to this area when I was a toddler and I had my 40th birthday on this visit, I have to tell you it is sad and disheartening.

Golf was great!!!! Courses in great shape and less than $25 bucks a round near the resort.

Next time, we will likely go to St. Augustine. It was booming, clean with lots to do. We love the Alligator Farm and The Conch House.

In Palm Coast we love JT's Seafood Shack. In Daytona we ate at Stonewood and it was wonderful.

Overall, it was what we were looking for as far as being relaxing and low key, but we would like to have had the opportunity of more activities on the grounds so we did not have to leave to do anything/everything.

There is a Publix grocery nearby. There is NO internet, wireless or otherwise. You can purchase wireless but it is not thru the resort and if you have problems, too bad. Be prepared to drive to the beach. At Hammock Beach, you can no longer get service of food or drinks unless you are staying at the now private resort. Flagler is the nearest "services available" beach.

Room Tip: All rooms are two bedroom with a king in the master and a queen in the second bedroom.
