“Nice Surprise!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2011

We usually leave the country and do all-inclusive beach vacations but found Hammock Beach Resort and decided to try it out. It was a really nice surprise!!!! Other than the food was a bit pricey it was a perfect get-away. Just be sure to ask about any pool closures. It was posted on the website but I called 3 times and nobody mentioned it and I didn't think to ask. Beach was nice for up there. Although I am partial to the clearer water in S. Fla.

Room Tip: We chose the lodge which was the least expensive but right on the ocean.

We stayed at this resort for two nights celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. I wanted to booked somewhere special and on the beach.
This resort was incredible! Everything was 1st class. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is a little pricey but for a special occasion, it was well worth it.
It has everything you could want, from lazy river, pools, golf and a spa.
We stayed in a one bedroom oceanfront. It was so beautiful and comfortable. We had an incredible view of the ocean. We weren't able to go out and use any of the facilities because of the rain and wind but we still enjoyed the resort!

Room Tip: We were originally given a room on the third floor in the main tower, but our view was the building...

This resort is absolutely gorgeous and has everything that you could possibly want to do. They have around 6 pools and a lazy river to keep you having fun in the water. They also have a giant slide that my family really enjoyed. A little too scary for me. Then, of course, the beach was also well taken care of, clean, and spacious. The chairs and umbrellas were provided for those who were registered guests and they even provided water for all of us too. We did not run into any staff that wasn't nice and helpful. We had the time of our life from Sat. to Mon. afternoon, 9/24-9/27/11. The lunch food was okay at each one of the two restaurants that we ate at on the Resort. The Atlantic Grill was very good for dinner too. We stayed at a 3 bedroom villa, which was a short walk to the Main Bldg. and the restaurants, but the weather was perfect, so we didn't mind. The Villa was perfectly clean and roomy and had almost everything that we could use for our stay. Daily room service also was appreciated to refresh our beds and give us new towels each day. They even had people to pick you up in golf carts if you didn't want to walk the little bit of the way to the Main Bldg. We also enjoyed Sunday night Sunset Cruise on the Sundancer Yacht. That was a 2 hour cruise around the resort and we enjoyed the company, the food, and the view. Shuttles were available to pick us up and take us to and from the Yacht. All in all, we would love to go back, but not at the same time of the year.
Now the bad part, on Mon. afternoon, we noticed these very strange bugs starting to show up at each of the pools and bothering us on our chairs. There were enough flying around, that I ended up having to call it quits after around 4p. We didn't think anything of it until Tues. a.m., when the rest of the family tried to go to the beach. They said that there were at least 100 bugs on each chair. Then they moved to the pools, hoping that the bugs were not there. Unfortunately, the bugs had also taken over every spot on the chairs and on the umbrellas and anywhere else you could even think of. The only place they didn't like was in the water. That's when I called the front desk to find out about them and discovered that these particular bugs invaded florida the month of May and the month of September. No one had told us about that before we made our reservations. The worse time of their swarming was the 2 wks that we decided to stay at the resort. I think that we should have been told about this and given the option of whether to take our chances or reserve at another time during the year.
Needless to say, we could not enjoy the rest of the facilities and decided to go home early. The money we saved leaving early, was used up on making new plane reservations. We were not happy travelers at the end.
Would I recommend this Resort to anyone else? Yes, by all means; it is wonderful and kept as clean as could be and landscaped beautifully too. JUST DON'T GO DURING THE "LOVE BUG" SEASON. Look them up in wikipedia or google them to learn what time of the year to avoid.

trip was great ,stayed at the lodge ,allowed great beach access for wife while i played golf in the AM. If you appreciate good golf try the Conservatory course. truely awesome, well worth the easy 15 minute drive or shuttle run. Ocean course is a nobrainer because its right on resort but nothing special other than water views. Everything about the Conservatory tract is superior, from the condition to the service, top notch!! Resort was big and family friendly, no cash resorts makes it easy but in some cases adding% felt like an overcharge all in all, a great experience. Off resort eatery KoKoRo asian fusion a must ( order firecracker roll) and JT seafood shack

Room Tip: stayed at lodge facing south, a quieter and better view of the resort on north side Lodge is close...

This was the second time we stayed at this property we stayed with our family, including children and grandchildren. I rented two three bedroom suites, which also had three bats, a full kitchen, living room and dining room.
The hotel has three pools and an indoor pool, a lazy river, a full golf course,a spa and a couple of resturants. Of course it is located on the ocean so there is a pretty nice beach to use in season. (not the winter)
There is a Publix supermarket right down the street so you can easily stock up on snacks, meals etc. They will shop for you if you wish, and charge you a fair 20% of the bill.
The grounds are very nicely landscaped, and family friendly. The staff at the hotel was really wonderful, they could not do enough for you.
The hotel resturants were much improved from the first time we stayed here two years ago.
they are, however a little pricey so you may want to make some of your own meals in the room. There are not many resturants within the nearby area, so a trip out to eat could be time consuming.
The only negative is the number of events going on at the hotel especially on weekends, I would check the event schedule before I booked.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the Ocean wing, is it less noisy, but be careful, the reservation staff really has no...

The room: We were 2 couples ages 28-30 staying in a 3 bedroom room (#107) in the main tower. It was considered resort view but you could see the ocean at quite a distance from the side. The room was very clean, comfortable, and decorated nicely. Two bedrooms had king beds with private baths both glass enclosed showers, double sinks, and large seperate tubs and the 3rd had two twins and a hall bath. It didn't bother me at all, but the main TV was not a flat screen TV which I know some people disklike.
My one and only suggestion for the room would be regarding the "well-equipped" kitchen. While it did have most basic things, it only had 1 skillet which was in bad condition most likely from other people putting in in the dishwasher. It made cooking eggs, bacon, and hash browns a bit difficult in the morning having to do one at a time and reheat before eating. Sounds silly... but it took a lot of extra time to make a meal.

Pools: The main or "kids" pool was great. It was very large, pretty water features, and the water slide is located there. We were there during weekdays and had no issues whatsoever getting lounge chairs wherever we wanted. We checked out the adults pool upstairs from the main pool ... it was so quiet that no one was even there. The pool with the sand also did not interest us much so we didn't stick around. The lazy river was not really lazy at all. There are a ton of jets and things that don't just spray you, but really soak you. It was fun a few times around, but definitely not relaxing. The waterslide and lazy river closed at 6pm, and the outdoor pool closing time is determined by the sunset... so about 7:30pm during our stay this September. The indoor pool and 2 hot tubs were open until 10pm. Indoor pool is large and was usually empty. Only 1 of the 2 hot tubs got hot =( but because it was so empty when we were there, we usually always got the good one easily.

Side note: We were stopped with our drinks at the outdoor pools. You must buy theirs. A round of drinks with 1 beer, 2 pina coladas, and a long island with automatic gratuity was about $41. However, there was no attendant indoors so we brought whatever we wanted. You can also bring a cooler to the beach.

Activities: The spa was really nice. We were not made aware that the sauna and steam room were included with your stay. Luckily we found out and used it often. The attendants were pleasant and just a great experience overall. Also near the indoor pool area there is a ping pong and foosball table.

Nightlife: What nightlife??? There were two bars - one in the lodge and Loggerheads in the main tower. The only people in these bars were the employees working there. Maybe its more exciting on the weekends.

Overall, we really enjoyed this resort and would stay again.

This is a great resort. My boyfriend and I took a long weekend to Hammock Beach Resort and loved our stay. The restaurants were all very good, though expensive and the property is beautiful. We only left the resort once to make a quick visit to St. Augustine and found many things to keep us entertained. Gorgeous views and a great beach. An easy weekend getaway. I'd definitely stay again.
