Based largely on the reviews found here, we went to the Bourbon Street Grill last week. It was the worst experience we've had in years of Palm Coast visits. Aside from the music, and a nice blue cheese dressing on the wilted salad, there was nothing positive to report.
We ordered house wines. They took a long time to be delivered and then had to improve a lot to reach mediocre. Items we ordered from the menu weren't available, and hadn't been (we were told) for months. Items on the menu posted at their web site weren't even offered.
Our appetizer of grilled vegetables and hummus took 45 minutes to arrive. The vegetables were so over done that they were mush, and yet they were neither warm enough to be right off the grill, nor cool enough to be at room temperature. I suspect they spent a lot of the 45 minutes dying a slow death under the salamander. Everything was drowned in poor quality vinegar that made it inedible.
The entrees took an additional half hour to arrive. The swordfish was raw in the middle; the medium rare steak was well done. The red beans and rice were drowning in a tomato sauce.
As intrigued as we were as to how they might mangle their "famous bread pudding", we didn't have another hour to wait for it and left.
The staff was morose and indifferent. The ambiance: shabby. The bar was busy, though, and included at least one unaccompanied, overly friendly, single woman along with a number of boisterous groups. Of course the two family groups seated near us weren't so pleased, but then, neither was anyone else.
