“Boring Resort, Boring Area.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

I like the Marriott Vacation Club because of the consistent high quality of service, facilities and amenities. The Ocean Pointe is no exception. We stayed 5 days at the Dolphin Building which is in the center of it all. The beach, their pools and spa were great but after a day you'd be nicely burnt. There were many golf courses and scuba dive shops but we did not have our gear or clubs. We did spend a wonderful day chartering a boat and fishing. But other than that, it was pure boredom.
The list of activities may seem long but were very limited. I tried to join the Texas Hold Em night, I was asked if I knew how to deal. That if I could be a dealer they would open another table. And i get a free drink for my services. So this activity was limited to nine players. None of us were able to get on the shuffle board, ping pong table or putt putt course. They were packed all day.
Don't come here for a vacation. It's absolutely boring.

We had a wonderful 6 day stay at Marriott Ocean Pointe. The check-in process was speedy and in no time we were in our Pompano building studio guestroom. The room was nice with a mini kitchenette. The resort itself was very well kept. The grounds and pools were always clean. Every morning we saw the staff cleaning the gas grills. The best part of this place was the beach. We enjoyed the long strolls and the waves were refreshing and not too strong. You should bring your own beach chairs and umbrellas because Marriott outsources a separate company on the beach that charges $40 a day. The Tiki bar at the main pool was a plus. We were able to catch the World Cup finale, although the bartenders seemed to move on island time on more than one occasion. Overall, this resort is great for families with kids. There were a ton of activities throughout the day. It was apparent that these patrons come every year with their kids. As a couple, we would have preferred a more relaxing and quiet place, but we did have a wonderful time. We will definitely consider coming back when we have a family.

Very spacious 1 bedroom villa with fully functional kitchen with beautiful contemporary/tropical decor & very comfortable. Sofabed is the new springless memory foam that is very comfortable for kiddos. Loved the large pools & hot whirlpool spas. Finding loungers was never an issue as there is plenty for everyone. If you rent a car stop at the grocery store before or after check in as the marketplace is a total rip! Everything is 400% mark up at a minimum. There's a Publix just over the bridge as well as Target & Walmart within 10 miles.

Room Tip: High floor is best.

Our flight to Florida arrived very early in the morning - way before check-in time. The staff allowed us to leave our baggage with them and to roam the hotel grounds. We were encouraged to check out the 5 buildings to determine which one would best serve our needs. We chose the Pampano building because it was far enough away from the noisy activity but not too far to walk back and forth to the main area. The on-site Tiki bar was offering breakfast so that was perfect.
It was a hot day so we ended up waiting for about 3 hours in the air-conditioned main building but that was fine. Though check-in was supposed to be at 4PM, Claudia and Cyntia worked their magic and had us all set at 2PM! Our room was way more than we ever expected! It was clean, big, well stocked with newer appliances, etc. , had a great view from the 5th floor, and even had a washer and dryer with detergent provided!
Our days were filled up with pool (water aerobics at 9:30AM was a lot of fun!) and beach, and rest. We did a lot of walking in the afternoon and evening since we didn't have a car. True, the neighborhood wasn't exactly ritzy but it wasn't ghetto! We rented a car one day and drove to City Place and West Palm, both of which were beautiful, but we preferred just hang out at the hotel. We could not have been more pleased. Too bad the time flew by so fast!

Room Tip: Pampano and Kingfish are the quieter buildings. Kingfish is a pretty long walk to the main area so...

We stayed at the Ocean Pointe early June 2014 and the resort is beautiful. Has 2 pools, closet to main check in area predominantly for families with children other pool mainly for adults. Never had issues getting lounge chairs. Had a one bedroom villa which was clean and comfortable. Applicances in excellent shape. Front desk staff team were very nice and accomodating. The activity staff was great as well. Love the tiki bar and food was actually really good and youhave to have their home made potato chips, great. Could not ask for better service. Beach was beautiful but you did have to pay for use of lounges and umbrella on the beach as it was not provided or serviced by Marriott. If you want to relax this is the place as there is not much on Palm Beach Shores. If you do want to do a zillion things then Palm Beach itself is not that far away. Go to Sailfish Marina restaurant and also the place to take the Palm Beach Island water taxi/tour.

Room Tip: ask for room higher than the second floor as trees have grown and can't see the ocean

Marriott always seems to provide the best accommodations and The Ocean Point is no exception. The front desk was very welcoming and personable. Unfortunately, the hotel was quite crowded so we ended up with first floor room so now ocean views. Despite that, we were very happy with the room, comfortable bed, nice kitchen and bathroom with a Jacuzzi. We had to drive to Miami for a visa so we did not partake of the many activities offered during our two days there (it rained on the second day) but there seemed to be something going on for everyone.

Well first and foremost, I just can not say enough about this resort. EVERYONE is friendly and goes out of their way to make your vacation a great one. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out. This property has 5 buildings, 4 that are fairly close together and one that is separated from the rest(King fish). DO NOT stay in the King Fish building unless you want peace and quiet and do not have kids. It really is serrated from the main resort. We stayed in the Pompano building and could not be happier with the location. The workout room was close by, the grills were close by as well. It overlooks the "adult" pool but only a very short walk to the main pool. It had the easiest and shortest access to the beach. We love to workout, cookout and hit the beach, so this was perfect! The building was also recently renovated and was very nice on the inside.

The amount of kids activities was amazing and most did not cost extra! From crafts in the mornings, games in the pool during the afternoon, to a fun dance party at night. My kids never lacked anything to do! There is also a very nice games area with shuffle board, mini-golf, bags, tennis, bocce ball, ping pong and a outside large piece chess board(my son loves chess!).

The beach was as most people have described, DO NOT expect a sandy perfect white beach as you would see on the Gulf side. This is the Atlantic and the beaches are different. A decent surf, pretty good sand and lots of sea shells right along the shore. My kids had a blast collecting shells. There is a company, as mentioned in other reviews, that rents chairs and umbrellas. Lots of people renting them, we did not. A lot of people brought down their own umbrellas and chairs. I give the beach a A- for an Atlantic side beach.

One small note if you have not stayed at a Marriott vacation property before. This is NOT like staying in a hotel room, this is like staying in a condo. There is NOT daily housekeeping during your stay. Do not come here and expect that and be disappointed. You can pay extra for this service if you choose to though. We usually get one "tidy" up service mid-week and do just great!. Please stop rating Marriott lower for this and if you want this type of service, pay for it or stay in a full-service Marriott resort. All in all this is a top-notch Marriott Resort that meets and beats all of Marriott standards!

SUGGESTIONS FOR MANAGEMENT
---all very minor things that could take the stay to even another level!

1. The workout room is WAY to hot! The air set at 70 and no ventilation. Set the temp a little lower and find a way to circulate the air better(fans).

2. A few more water stations by the pool. Only one place to get water and that was by the main restaurant. Not a terrible long walk but strategic placing of a few more water coolers would be a great service to guests.

3. Direct TV--Only time spent in the room on vacation is when there is bad weather, well the Direct TV here loses a signal and there is no TV during this time. Kinda a bummer. I have direct TV at home and only lose a signal when it is very very nasty out. Here you lose it with some clouds and rain. I would speak to Direct TV about that!

4. The grill(typical vacation club issue) ignitors do not always work, I am sure it is cause they get a TON of use, but properly working grills would be cool. Overall though the grill area was very nice. They do need more of them though.

5. The welcome breakfast on Monday mornings is always a good thing with donuts and coffee for all guests. This resort is BIG and lots of guests. Maybe try and get coffee out a little sooner and have 2 coffee areas. The line for coffee was long and kinda annoying. VERY easy to fix this one.

In closing, come to this resort and have a great time, relax and enjoy your vacation. Marriott Ocean Pointe and all the staff that work there will make sure your stay is one to remember!

Room Tip: People usually reccomend the Dolphin building, but we enjoyed the Pompano building due to the close...
