This was one of the best Marriott resorts that we have ever stayed at. Check-in (Sunday) was quick and easy, but unfortunately, we couldn't get into our room early. We were allowed use the resort's facilities until our room was ready. The one bedroom condo was clean and all of the appliances were in good working order, as well as the furniture was in good condition. All of the staff members were friendly and a member of the cleaning staff walked us to our room after we checked in.
We reviewed the activities for the week and ended up participating in several activities including morning stretching and water aerobics on several occasions. Other activities included Zumba, line dancing, salsa lessons and poker. There was also a welcome event on Monday morning that provided activities going on at the resort as well as the surrounding community. The resort has three pools and a very large hot tub. The pools are non-chlorine pools, which is great. There is also a nine hole putt-putt golf course, shuffleboard, volleyball, a tiki bar and a children's water area. There is so much available that I am sure that I have missed something. Another plus is that the resort has DirecTV, which means that there are many more channels available than usual. The beach is also great the water was still warm when we stayed in early October. Security at the resort was also top notch. There is a code to access the resort from the beach that changes during the week, a valid key card is required to park in the lots and a key car is required to access the buildings and use the elevators. In addition, the local police department isn't far away and we always saw a patrol car when entering or leaving the resort.
The surrounding area is very nice to explore. We had stayed at the other Marriott resort on Singer Island a couple of years ago and didn't do much around town. During this trip, we visited Worth Avenue, the downtown West Palm Beach area, the botanical gardens, the Diva Duck tour and several shops in Palm Beach Gardens off of PGA Boulevard.
Being that we exchanged into the resort using Interval International, we were able to request a building and room preference, but others had priority ahead of us, which was understandable. We received the building that we requested, but the room floor wasn't as high as we would have liked.
The only issue that we had was with the typical timeshare tours. When we first arrived on Sunday, we heard that the tours were offering a $125 gift card for a 90 minute tour. When we checked in and picked up our welcome package we were only offered $100. By Monday morning's welcome event, the gift card was down to $75. I'm not sure what determines the amount of the gift card, but it was concerning that the amount moved down so fast.
If you get a chance to stay at Marriott's Ocean Pointe, you should. I can't wait to go back!
