“Wonderful Accommodations”

We stayed at the PBSR for five nights in January. I reserved on-line and got a great room at a great price - with a fully-cooked breakfast included in the room charge. This hotel is oceanfront, and the beach is clean and pretty with cabanas/chairs for rent. The pool is large and there were always chaise lounges available. This hotel is a time-share resort, and they do have an office there if you are interested in purchasing; however, we were never approached to take a tour. The room had a king-size bed with very comfortable pillows and mattress. The bathroom was huge. There was a TV and sofa in the living room, and a TV in the bedroom -- with a door between the living room and bedroom. There was a small, granite-topped kitchenette with a refrigerator, sink, microwave and coffeemaker. There was a table and four chairs. Plenty of room in this suite. We ate dinner al fresco across the street at a wonderful restaurant. Their grouper prepared in parchment paper was phenomenal. We never had to wait in line at the hotel dining room for breakfast seating. You could also eat outside. There was also a bar by the pool. We had a rental car, so we paid $6.00 per day for parking. There is also a $1.00 per day safe charge. I think both of these charges are fair. All in all, a great resort.

As 10+ yrs owner it has to the best run resort in S. Florida. We come back every year to meet our many friends inside and outside the resort. In that time we have purchased a condo in Ft. Lauderdale, but we still start our March vacation at the resort. I would recommend it to everyone.

“Great Location, Lousy Management and Upkeep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2010

We stayed at this resort when the January weather was good. The beach location is very nice, but suffers from erosion due to a hurricane. The resort is located in a mostly residential community which also makes for nice non-beach strolls. Palm Beach Shores is located on a small peninsula and walking around it from the hotel totals a little less than 2 miles which is nice to justify those fruity drinks that are served at the Tiki Bar.

The pool is adequate, but a previous reviewer hit the nail on the head when commenting that there are chair wars and people put their belongings on the prime chairs early in the morning to claim them for the day. That is very rude and irritating and my husband and I did not hesitate to remove items from non-occupied chairs. The staff is no help with this and the guy in the beach cabana seemed more interested in looking at his computer all day long rather than providing the free beach towels or selling items. I felt like I was disturbing him when I request our towels for the day.

The resort is getting old and showing its wear. Many renovations need to be done including renovating the units and infrasturcture. It takes forever to get hot water for a shower. I actually took a whole shower with lukewarm water without it ever getting hot. The air conditioning in inadequate, even in January and the pipes seep condensation into the wall in the closet. My clothes got wet as a result. Also, the microwave/convection oven in our unit was installed incorrectly and would not fully open. When I went to remove a casserole from the oven, it dumped all over me and the stove. What a mess and I was lucky I wasn't burned!

There are no ceiling fans in the units - in Florida????

Management is generally unresponsive to any concerns. Like at many other timeshares, they are chasing after the new customers/ potential owners.

“Loved every second”

My husband and I purchased this vacation through an online vacation auction site at a very reasonable price. We were very impressed with the Palm Beach Shores. The location is amazing since it's situated directly on the beach. The pool area is nice with a convenient bar and all. The condos were very nice and clean. Huge luxurious bathroom, well equipped kitchen, decent size closed bedroom. Seriously, we didn't regret staying here at all. We recommend it to anyone and would go back anytime.

“Fire alarms, pool chair wars and balcony climbers....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2010

The first day the front desk calls to say that someone in the pool area saw a person going from balcony to balcony and wanted to know if someone was on our balcony.
Half the chairs around the pool have good sun exposure and people get up early to stake out their chairs. The policy is that if there is no one on a chair within a half an hour the towel is taken off the chair and made available to another guest. That doesn't happen. People take it upon themselves to move towels and take chairs and this causes for conflict. The fire alarm went off twice. The fire alarms were on cold mornings and were at 8am and the other at 4am. I found a week there was stressful. I spent a lot of money there and when I told the manager of my stressful week he called me a liar that no one from the front desk made any such call. This was only after he told me to call him at 11pm. That was the time he got off and I was leaving the following morning. He was trying to avoid me all together. Overall, I don''t plan on returning to my timeshare New Years Eve week or any other time. I will not return. The fire department didn't even come the second time. This made me wonder if the fire alarms go off there a lot.
