We've stayed at this hotel 3 times now. Since our previous visits, they have remodeled the lobby and restaurant, and they look great. Front desk is friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and comfortable - great TV too, but unfortunately, it was rainy all weekend, and the hotel uses satellite TV, so there was "no signal" for a majority of our stay. We were quite disappointed, as you can't use the pool, spa, etc. when it's raining, so you're left in your room with nothing to do. As for the beds, I found them most uncomfortable and woke up with a terrible backache each morning, and had very restless nights of sleep. Some rave of the beds, but they're just not for me. Otherwise, the room is great, and the hotel went out of their way to be accomodating with certain requests, so I give them top honors for that.
Our largest disappointment was the restaurant. We actually chose to stay at the Doubletree this year based on their excellent restaurant. Last year we raved about their food, and we looked forward to eating. However, the restaurant has changed and their menu is severely limited - and I stress "severely limited", and the choices are very poor. We thought the room service menu was so limited we made a trip to dine in instead, only to find out that the dining menu is cut more than in half of the room service menu, so we went back up to the room and ordered "in". The food we had was very good, I just wish they would bring back their original menu and fabulous food choices. Matter of fact, the second day we ordered pizza from an outside establishment because neither of us could find one thing we would eat off the menu!
The pool and hot tub are very nice and clean. We did get a few minutes to enjoy them between the storms and were impressed.
I recommend this hotel, but for the restaurant. Enjoy your stay at the hotel, but you may have to leave the premises to enjoy a nice meal.
