“The Breakers in June”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

The Breakers is a great place for anyone; single on business, couples or families. The beachfront location cannot be beat and with multiple pools, the choices are many for soaking up sun. As expected, the rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean and spacious. My bathroom had a walk in shower with no bath tub which I prefer. The amenities for this class hotel are as expected with robes, slippers and plenty of bathroom items. But what I liked best was the two free bottles of water everyday AND free internet. I find it annoying to be charged $3, $4, $8, whatever for water and even more so for excessive internet access charges. At $532.80 per night these are the little things that make me feel like I am not being nickeled and dimes. That is for the HMF Bar! Drinks anywhere in the Breakers are not cheap, but the HMF bar is a nice lively place. That said, the cashews are free and so good my wonderful waitress gave me a to go container to take home. Other options are the Seafood Bar where you can sit at an actual fishtank bar and also enjoy a full dinner with TV's overhead. Great if you are alone or if with others just sit at a table clear of the distraction. The pool bars are also available. The staff is extremely helpful from check in to the waiters, bar staff and pool staff. At the pool the staff will set up your chair for you, make sure you are hydrated with water or drinks and also take food orders. I was going to purchase a $20 tube of sunscreen, but the pool attendant provided me some as many prople leave theirs behind so it is collected and made available. I like that. At departure to PBI, I was plesantly surprised to have a black car available at a reasonable price of $35 (tip not included) quite a bit less than I expected. Overall experience was spectacular and will be back!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the ocean, but this is rather a personal choice.

Beautiful hotel in a nice setting.
Food was good, but expensive. Which is always the case for this type of hotel.
Not sure why people review this hotel and complain about the cost??! If you want cheap food, book a cheaper hotel! Or get a car and go into town. Its not complicated.
I have no complaints. Service was friendly, courteous and professional. Our room which was a front ocean view was incredible (especially the view!!).

Lots of nice perks at the hotel. Wireless was included. They have a quiet pool for adults etc, lovely kept grounds, free water around the pool and just general facilities and service that made the stay a great one. Room was very clean. All in all its a nice experience.
Not the cheapest of hotels, but worth it for a good experience. Recommend getting a car hire or cab to town (which is very close). Downtown is nice and has lots of bars and restaurants which can save a lot of money in food and drinks

Room Tip: Pick Sea view and higher floor if budget allows!!

This temple of pure luxery is located directly at the beach and offers everything you may need during your stay. A variety of restaurants, spa and fitness, golf and tennis, shops,.... I have been to many top class hotels all over the world and I must admit this place is breathtaking every time you arrive there! Dignity wherever you walk. One of the best in the world!
It starts with an impressive palm alley, continues with a warm welcome when you jump out of your car before entering this piece of art. Followed by the reception area with its awesome architecture, where just the finest materials are used and classy top elegant furniture invites you to take a seat. The rooms are without a comment.
We stayed an evening, so we just had dinner at the Seafood Bar where the bar is an aquarium and offers a perfect view to the Atlantic while you are enjoying the freshed available seafood.
The service is top professional, friendly and very attentive, absolut top! If you are in the area you must at least visit this masterpiece of a hotel.

We've stayed at The Breakers many times in the past to attend various conferences, but this experience was so disappointing that we felt compelled to share our concerns with the TripAdvisor community!

What we experienced:

From check-in thru check-out, the quality and caliber of this once impeccable landmark has sadly fallen from grace; the resort is definately NOT what it used to be! The almighty Dollar, the Euro, and the Peso have apparantly become the new kids on the block in the year since we were here last!

What we experienced:

Gone is the genuine caring and welcoming attitude of most staff. Gone is the spotless and meticulous cleanliness of both the public and guest areas. Gone is the food and beverage quality and preparation that once made every meal a masterpiece. And gone is the flawless service standard by the wait and housekeeping staff.

Yes, The Breakers has updated their guest rooms and appointments and has revised and modernized some of their lounge and dining facilities, but no more so than most other resorts have.

Sadly, we routinely witnessed children running around through their grandiose lobby without any adult supervision, dripping wet in bathing attire and soaking the marble floors to the point where guests were literally slipping and falling. No maintainence to immediately remedy this hazard! No signs to atleast warn of this danger! And no admonishment towards these unaccompanied minors by any staff or security team member, even after calling it to the attention of the front-desk! This would have been unthinkable at The Breakers in the past!

And sadly, we also experienced first-hand the attempt to serve clearly spoiled lobster to us in their Seafood Bar dining venue. Lobster (or any seafood) that smells and tastes like ammonia is not fit for human consumption! But to have their wait staff and then cook staff argue the obvious without offering to remake, substitute, or to atleast remove the charge off our tab would have been unthinkable at The Breakers in the past!

Unfortunately, we found that The Breakers is definately NOT what it used to be, and is well-below what we expected and experienced in our many previous visits. Considering the price-points of accomodations, food, beverages, mandatory gratuity & service charges, and other non-inclusive features such as valet parking fees, etc., we can no longer recommend this resort for those looking for upscale luxury in the South Florida area!

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms located near the elevators, as they are old and noisy!

We selected The Breakers for our family vacation because we enjoy the resort atmosphere. The hotel is beautiful and the service is excellent. However, the food and drinks are so over priced. I don't mind spending money on a nice meal, but every meal at The Breakers is expensive. $20.00 dollar sandwiches and $15.00+ cocktails makes an expensive day by the pool. If you stay the week and eat on property, plan to spend another $2000! We enjoyed the experience, but will probably not return. For the money I would prefer to rent a house on the beach.

After staying at some really nice hotels and resorts in the keys and Miami we spent the last two days at a conference at the Breakers. Facilities are great . Rooms are clean and well appointed. Many restaurants to choose from. I did get the dealing of being gauged as prices are a little high but expected. Room service is unfriendly and overpriced . Again expected. Valet took the cat suddenly before it was unloaded the it took an hour for them to bring it back. Though I hate to complain about the valet because they were the most friendly of the staff. Upon check in I was informed by a female staff who looked thirteen that the LITTLE line was two feet over to my left. Check in is 4:30 . Check out is 12:00. Was charged 100.00 to leave early by a day even though I let them know 3 day in advance. Then informed I needed to be out at noon because they had already rented the room. If you already rented the room why charge 100.00. Don't mind paying the prices just don't like feeling like I'm getting nickled and dimned . Think I'll stay somewhere else next time.

Bringing a group of over 200 for a retreat to The Breakers, absolutely no detail was either too small or too large. With a group so large, one would expect that management would be on top of things, and of course they indeed were in top of every detail. However, with a large group, you might be prepared for a seemingly inevitable snag or two. There were no snags! None whatsoever. Every single guest in the group was delighted with their room, the amenities of the resort, the dining, and the excellent attention delivered by Mr. Johnson and all of the ladies and gentlemen who took such personal pride in what they do. I, with pleasure, recommend The Breakers to any individual, family, or meeting planner.
