“Step into a world of old elegance!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013 via mobile

From the minute we arrived, we were treated so special . Even though there were several conferences going on, my husband and I were not slighted at all with attention. The suite was perfect - no detail unnoticed. The aquarium bar and restaurant is a must. I would go to Breakers every year but it is too expensive for me. Top Notch resort!!!!

We have stayed here before and always enjoy coming back. It is a beautiful well run" resort" although remarkably expensive! Breakable for 2 was $90. The location on the beach is wonderful, and the choice of 5 pools guarantee a place for everyone. The public rooms are some of the most stunning in the US. Choose a room facing the ocean.

Room Tip: Any room facing the ocean

The Breakers is one of the more luxury oriented and old world detail hotels in the US. The Sunday brunch is outstanding. Terrific food options, service and location. If you are looking for a real top notch Sunday dining option and are in the Palm Beach area, this is the place to do it. The hotel is also perfectly situated on the ocean and a few blocks or a short car ride away from luxury shopping boutiques on Worth Avenue.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

As just about every other review has said, the beauty and service of the Breakers exceed all expectations, so I don’t feel the need to re-state the obvious.

I ate in 3 restaurants (the Seafood Bar, the Ocean Grill, and the Beach Club), had drinks in the HMF bar and attended some private events in various rooms at the Breakers. In all cases the food was good to very-good (but nothing extraordinary) and the service was excellent, and all locations were great settings. But, my favorite had to be the Ocean Grill since I’m always a fan of outdoor seating in a very casual atmosphere when I’m near the beach.

In fact, I’m such a fan of outdoor seating in a casual atmosphere that I was shocked and very disappointed to learn that there is no option at the Breakers to have a drink outdoors overlooking the beach in the evening (at least not past 7PM). My wife and I had driven up from Miami at around 6PM, and were both looking forward to relaxing with a few drinks while beach-side (or at least pool-side) spot – we had to make do with drinks at the Seafood Bar but it was not even a close to what we really wanted.

As others have said, the rooms are nicely decorated but on the small side. Ours had all the conveniences you’d expect (TV, room safe, ironing board, iron, plenty of drawer and closet space, two guest chairs, ceiling fan, comfortable king-size bed and free Wi-Fi). I did like that they provide a bag that is perfect for toting things to the beach. The bathroom has twin sinks, and a large stall shower. My only disappointment with the room was the noise-level. I was able to hear the TV in the next room, as well as that guest’s phone conversations.

We used the Concierge to answer some questions, Guest Services to store some items, and the valet for parking. The two times we had to call for help (once for maintenance, and once for assistance with our bags) a hotel employee arrived at the room within minutes.

Our use of the hotel’s amenities was limited to the beach, the pools, the bars and restaurants (we didn’t use the golf course, the tennis courts, the spa, etc.). While we were there, lounge chairs were reasonably available at the pool, but there seemed to be a shortage of chairs on the beach.

During our 4 days we noticed that the demographics of the guests seemed split into two groups: either families with young children, or seniors in their 60s. There didn’t seem to be many young couples.

The Breakers seems like a wonderful place for a special event (there were weddings as well as corporate events while we were there). Their banquet and ballrooms are really magnificent with very high ceilings. I saw one private event being setup on the Ocean Lawn and I thought it was an ideal location.

Everything (rooms, food, drinks) is very expensive, and a 20% service charge is added to the already expensive food and drink tabs (it bugs me that they don’t trust their guests to tip properly). Overall, it’s hard to justify the cost. If you’re looking for a nice place by the beach there are certainly more reasonably priced options. However, if you’re interested in experiencing top-flight service in an unparalleled setting, regardless of the cost, this is the place.

The Breakers is all. It is the most gorgeous, beautiful resort in the world.
Stayed there recently and it was like a dream!
Will definitely return!
There is not a single point I can complaint about ar suggest. It is just perfect!
The food and drinks are the highest level, the rooms are gorgeous, pools and public areas are top level.

Thank you!

Room Tip: ocean view rooms are the best!

We live in town and decided, last minute, to check in to the hotel one weekend. Overall the stay was good. The rooms are nice - a bit smaller than we are used to but they are tastefully decorated with most of the comforts of home. The decor is very Palm Beach - we we like. Though the building is historic, the rooms are up to date. We did notice however that baths do not have an exhaust vent - so a shower turns into a steam shower quite quickly. Most noticeably absent were down pillows. The pillows supplied were synthetic and frankly, we thought they were a joke. They were miserably uncomfortable and really out of place - given that there was a down comforter on the bed. We were informed that the hotel did not use natural down pillows. While we suffered a sore neck and sleepless night, we were undaunted. If we return, we do so with proper pillows. We did not have turndown service, we were not in the room and I guess our room was overlooked so I can't comment on that.

The hotel is mostly full of convention goers and their families. The pools get quite crowded and loud though there is a nice adult pool at the south end of the property. Chair placement and reserving, which I had last experienced years ago during college Spring Break, was rampant - very early in the morning folks would go out and place a book or what have you on a chair. This continued throughout the day and frankly, it was pretty amusing.

Meals at all the restaurants are alway good. Never a complaint and the service is always fantastic.

I have had the pleasure of staying at The Breakers many times over the past 20 yrs. it has always been a beautiful, historic hotel but many times felt like the "help" we're doing me a favor by taking my money for staying there. The last two times (twice in the past 4yrs) the attitude has definitely been adjusted. I don't know if there has been a magement change or the economy has encouraged a personality change. First off, the rooms have been totally renovated. . . Still on the small side but decorated beautifully. I do wish they would include a coffee pot in the room for early risers. The front desk staff are efficient and friendly ( a big change). The poolside bungalows are comfortable and service is right on the mark. One of the three pools is designed specifically for families with children. A big change as in the past, children were frowned upon! It is still an upscale resort with menu prices $$$$ but the service and food is top notch.

Room Tip: The Breakers is oceanfront so obviously ocean front rooms are most desirable, therefore most expensi...
