“Great Boutique Hotel Close to the Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

This hotel is quaint and lovely. I've stayed once and will certainly go back. The rooms are affordable and have great deals. It is a walk to the beach but they are great at supplying shuttles and bikes and all things needed for the beach. Also great walk into town near worth avenue with great shopping. Pool area is small but great because it has great sun exposure and can lounge all day. All the guests are respectful and food service by the pool. Over all very nice smaller hotel with a great staff.

My son (8) and I visited during Thanksgiving. Everyone we encountered at the Chesterfield, from Tina at the Front Desk; to the valets; housekeeping staff and dining wait staff, was just lovely. Even though it was a national holiday, we never got the feeling of being an imposition, or of being anything other than delightfully-received guests. The room was very attractive; the location was ideal; the food was great. Even the courtyard pool and hot tube were so pretty. Just loved it.

First contact from the Valet to the Reception, Leopard Lounge staff to a personnel greeting of the GM this place ranks among the true classical class hotels around the world. Every single detail is taken care of with more than just a smile, its met with a true desire to please. My stay could not have been more pleasant and will look forward to my next stay. Dining in the Leopard lounge is by far and away a great experience and even preferable to the more famous Breakers. I would highly recommend the experience of the Chesterfield to anyone looking for a great hotel in a great location and true 5 star service.

My husband and I attended the Leopard Lounge at the Chesterfield Hotel, Palm Beach, FL for dinner on January 9, 2014. Dinner was lovely, as always.
However, when we prepared to leave, the wait staff advised us that we should wait since it was pouring rain. We then ordered coffee which took another 20-30 minutes.
When we went to the entry to get our car from the valet, he was nowhere to be found.
We went to the manager and said that we were ready to leave. She retorted flippantly, that the valet would not be getting our car and that he was stranded in a car down the street.
There was no offer of anyone else getting our car and we were in a state of disbelief. We looked out, and at that point, there were about 8 inches of water in the street. We planned to take our shoes off when the car was delivered . We waited and inquired again and got the same reply with no offer of help. We have an SUV and figured that if someone would get our car, which we entrusted to their care, we could make it home.
The rain kept coming in torrents.
While still waiting and thinking that they would get our car, we asked if they had a T V we could watch to get the weather information. By this time, almost an hour later, the weather forecasters were advising people to stay off the roads. We were afraid then to take a chance, even if someone did get the car. We inquired about a room and asked the concierge if they had a room available. They did have one and quoted the price of $350.00. I requested a discount due to the circumstances and was refused. A few minutes later, that same manager said that we could have the room for $299.00. She did give us coupons for two complimentary continental breakfasts.
The room was comfortable but tiny. I had one hour sleep with the stress of the situation and the worry about the car being on the street with the torrential rain.
In the morning, a valet brought the car. There was debris under all the doors, which he cleaned off.
We live about a half hour away and the car got us home. On the way, we could here water sloshing under the car. My husband took it to the dealership and they had to take out all the carpeting. The insulation was also soaked and is now being replaced along with the battery and a few other components. We didn't know the carpet was wet since the mats were rubber backed and were dry.
We are still in a rental car which is costing an additional $30.00 a day over what the insurance will cover.
In addition, the repair bill for the car is $6,100.00 plus.
We can't help thinking that if someone from the Chesterfield had gotten our car when we first requested it, none of this would have happened. After they made us wait so long, it became a safety issue.
I called the general manager to let her know that we were unhappy with the way the situation was handled and got her assistant. She had the same manager who was on duty that night call. While speaking with her, she displayed the same unfriendly attitude. I requested a call from the general manage who returned my call with the same attitude, finding no fault with their part in the calamity.
How could they be so unprepared? This is a hurricane area and, yet, they were not prepared for a big rain storm.
This hotel is part of the Red Carnation Hotel Group from England. My husband is from England, and we always enjoyed the old world charm.
The marketing director for the chain boasts that no request is too large. Evidently, she has not visited the Chesterfield in Palm Beach.
After the poor treatment we received, we will no longer be visiting the Chesterfield, rain or shine.

The Chesterfield is well located, three blocks from the beach and a block from Worth Avenue. The value is better than at the other high end hotels in the area. There is a small pool and library. No gym or spa. Service is very good and they do strive for excellence, which is appreciated. The rooms are clean--we had a suite which was perfect for our family. Would recommend as one of many lovely hotels in Palm Beach.

This was our second visit to The Chesterfield Hotel this past December. My husband and I felt like we were visiting old friends! We received a very warm welcome back from Marlene at the front desk and Tara the Front Desk Manager. Our room was a King Suite, and absolutely gorgeous! We were there the week of December 7-14, which was a perfect time to go. The hotel was not crowded. We never had a problem getting a seat by the beautiful pool. There are plenty of places to walk near the Hotel, as well as it's close proximity to the Beach. Worth avenue, with its beautiful shoppes and restaurants is a couple blocks away. Our favorite dinner place was The Leopard Lounge in the Hotel. Mark the night manager and Donna the day manager went out of their way to make sure everything from the service to the food was impeccable! Our Waiter, Jonathan , went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied and he is a delight to talk to. Natalie, the General Manager met with us to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. Francine, the Executive Director remembered us from last time and went out of her way to visit with us! Greg, the Catering Manager remembered us as well from our visit two years ago. The Hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas, which further adds to the charm of this lovely Hotel. It is by far, one of our favorite places to visit and we will return again! Thank you to the whole staff for your wonderful hospitality !

Sincerely,

Lori and Alan B. From Freehold, NJ

The front desk team provides excellent service and is very hospitable. The restaurant team is timely and efficient, and the food is excellent. Overall a very nice place to stay. I would definitely return for a longer stay.
