“We loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

We took the family here while vacationing in Florida and we really had a wonderful time. Henry Flagler is a fascinating man, and to know he lived in that house is very cool. They allow you to walk through the house on your own and you can take your time. There are parts the public is not allowed to access, like the kitchen, but still there is quite a bit to see and it's been preserved beautifully.

“Gorgeous example of the Gilded Age”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

The first two floors of the home are nearly completely open for exploring... and it's kept at a cool 72 degrees. Make sure you go outside to the additional building housing the railcar that they traveled in (and yes, you can walk through it). If trains still looked like this, maybe I'd travel in one! If you really want to hear about the history of Mr. Flagler, his 3 wives, most of his relatives, and his Standard Oil partners then definitely wait for a docent. They guide you through the first floor in just over an hour. If you are just interested in viewing the most modern home of the time (look for the phone in the gigantic master bathroom), then venture out on your own with the audio wand. We traveled with our sons (9 & 12 years old) and they enjoyed it very much.

“Well worth a visit. Take the tour.”

Docents are knowledgable, and interesting. The home is very large, with beautiful carvings, art and decor. See how the wealthy lived in by-gone eras.

“Palm Beach and US History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

If you are looking for things to do while in Palm Beach, this is a must see. This museum gives you a glimpse of what it was like in the late 18th and early 19th century. Henry M Flagler was an important part of the history in the east coast, but a little less known than Rockefeller and Andrews. The museum showcases the vacation home that was built for his wife. The property has amazing details and must have cost a fortune even to today's standards. Make sure you call in advance if you don't want to do the self guided tour.
