My son, daughter and I rentad single kayake from Palm Bay Marina on US 1. We kayaked through Turkey Creek Sanctuary and it was a truly priceless experience. We went on the Saturday after July 4th. I mention the date becaus the waters were so warm and the were several manatees at this time of year enjoying their sanctuary. We felt welcome in their home- they kept surfacing right alongside our kayaka. We just stopped paddling, stayed quiet, and witnessed, watched, enjoyed the manatees in their natural habitat. We also saw several turtles of varying sizes as well as a couple of gators. We really had to paddle strong and hard, against the wind to make it back to the marina by the 4:30 closing time. We just were so enraptured back in the serenity of the sanctuary and absolutly bewildered by the manatees behavior that we had a hard time leaving this very special area. Kayak rental was $$8/ hour and a 3 hour min. So, I paid $75 for the 3 of us for 3 hours. I only wished we had gotten there earlier and had an extra hour. Time literally seemed to vanish the more we explored.
