The Good: I chose to stay at the Coral Beach Motel because of the good rate. I paid around $50 a night for an ocean-front room. The views were great. I loved waking up to watch the sunrise each morning. There is a donut shop across the street and lots of good places to eat nearby.

The Bad: This place is OLD and not is really good shape. I guess all of the years of Spring Break and Bike Week have really caused this motel to age poorly. Only half of the lights in the room worked. Good luck trying to plug your cell phone charger into an outlet, everytime I did it fell out. The bathrooms are small. The tub is old and stained. Everything was cleaned daily, but you can't make old look new just by cleaning it. Shower curtain was moldy. Mirror was stained. Outdoor pool was being repaired, but it looked nice. Indoor pool seemed OK, but it also looked old and in need of a good cleaning. Don't make the mistake of booking rooms through Hotels.com. When I got there they had no record of my reservation. Thank goodness it was winter and there were rooms available. You'd better call to confirm before making the trip.

The Ugly: There is NO security at all. I was awoken at 3:00 am by noises outside. After listening for a while, I got up and looked outside. To my suprise there were people on one of the top floors throwing half full beer cans and bottles off their balcony and hitting cars parked in the parking lot. One car even had it's windshield shattered. I saw this and called the front desk, but there was no answer. I later found out why there was no answer, the man working there at night is so scared that he keeps all of the doors locked and won't answer them. We had to beat on the door at 6:00 am in order to check-out. I was really glad to get out of Daytona Beach. I'd much rather spend my time in Myrtle Beach. Daytona was OK, but it is starting to get a little run down.

Overall I wasn't pleased with my stay here. I will not go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. While it was a great price, I should have spent a little more money and stayed somewhere nicer. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.

We had reservations to stay at the Coral Beach Motel July 1-5, 2006, with our 2 year old daughter and 11 month old son. When we checked in everything seemed okay. The outside of the hotel looked okay, and our room seemed pretty clean. We were okay with it, but not thrilled. My husband unloaded the car and brought our things to the room and we unpacked. We were ready to go out and get lunch about a half hour to 45 minutes after check in. During this time, our kids were playing in the floor, my son crawling around. I picked him up to leave, and his legs and feet were completely black!!!!! We were horrified! The color of the carpet in our room was black already, so we didn't notice the filth! We called the manager up to the room to see why we refused to stay through our reservations. He was very nice about it, and let us leave without any deposit being withheld or anything. If you don't have small children crawling around, and don't mind wearing shoes in your room, then the place is okay. We ended up finding a place down in Daytona Beach, that we had stayed in before, (The Nautalis Inn) for less money, and was 100 times cleaner. No filthy carpet there!

The hotel was fine for the money but I could see improvements that could be made. The air conditioner in one of the rooms made a knocking sound. The water in the shower ran fine for about 3 minutes then it would get very cold. When you adjusted it, it got very hot! I had to watch my 6 and 8 year old take their showers because I was afraid they would get scalded(it was that bad). The night time staff in the office where not friendly at all. Seemed like we were bothering them. We stopped in for directions and questions about Disney World. One night at 11:45 my husband called to tell them that kids were being very loud at the pool. He asked when the pool closed and the staff said midnight. At 12:45 he called back again and complained. This time someone said something. The next day we checked the sign and it said the pool closed at 11:00 p.m. Our kids can sleep through anything but that night it was a big problem with all the noise. We like to see people having fun but these were kids with no supervision and they could have been hurt and that would have reflected on the hotel. Plus, it was just time for people to be sleeping!! Daytime staff was very nice. The beach had a lot of seaweed that could have been raked away. Other hotels were doing it. On the plus side, the cleaning ladies were all so sweet and came with fresh towels, emptied the trash and made the beds daily. We had a great view of the ocean and loved having the little kitchen for breakfast and lunch. Ormand is a great city and we will go back their again. I would go to the hotel again but would like to see a few improvements. Our children loved it and we had a wonderful vacation.

Great view of the beach, courteous staff. Room was clean and shower pressure was great. My complaint, ice for you room, you know the little bucket you get, for 25 cents a handfull it took about 2.00 to fill it. This may be picky but for the price of the room you should be able to get free ice..

Stayed at Coral Beach Resort in Ormond Beach, June 24-28, 2006. The hotel was clean, no bugs, the staff was friendly. The room was clean, and had a great view of the ocean. Overall it is a nice place to stay. We will stay there again.
