It's surprising how many lousy Mexican restaurants there are out there. This isn't one of them but the food and service are not consistent. I have been there when both were very good and some when that was not the case. When it's good, it's worth the trip, better than most of this type in this area. One bad days the food is mediocre but not bad. And service is lousy.
Staffing seems to be an issue here. Often there is no hostess and you have to flag down someone to seat you, not the best intro. Waiters always seem overworked and frantic so food service can be slow. The Menu is extensive with some dishes not found at most mexican places.
This a local chain but the Ormond Location is the newest. It used to be a Kentucky Fried Chicken but the remodeling was so extensive, it is hard to recognize its roots. Decor and seating and pretty standard. The usual bright colors and vaguely mexican doo dads strewn about. Seating is hard wood benches. Not very comfortable. Parking is a pain if approaching from the east on SR 40. You have to turn again heavy traffic near a light, which is nearly impossible most of the time. Best approach is via a narrow road fronted by an ancient trailer park, just to the north off US 1.
Prices are pretty reasonable, unless you indulge in the always overpriced margaritas, which arent that good. Desserts are also pricey and not that great.
