“On the beach and reasonable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

The location right on the beach met our expectations. The room was a good size and with the kitchenette we could prepare some of our own meals. The front desk help were helpful and friendly. We had a problem with the lock on our door and they immediately took care of it.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room that faces the beach directly. Ours was on the side and so we didn't...

We have stayed here many times but something has happened! The place looks great . The breakfast was perfect... so much it was crowded every day. Quiet and family friendly. There are new rails on the balcony and watching the sunrise and the waves come in is so relaxing. If there was any room for improvement it would be more towels please .

Stayed for Memorial Day weekend. The room was big, comfortable & clean. The kitchenette was great with small stove top, microwave & refrigerator. Perfect for a family with children. Staff was great at check in & check out. I had a minor leak with a sink & when I called front desk they sent someone immediately to fix it. Balcony with chairs was nice to have. A lot of lounge chairs by pool to tan. Location is about 5 min from busy Daytona beach. This area was quieter but we prefer it that way. Breakfast was ok. My only con is that the pool is not heated and even though it was hot out, the pool was freezing cold. Garage parking under hotel kept car cool. I would recommend this hotel.

Pros: We stayed here recently on a 2-day trip to Ormond beach. The hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean. It's definitely an older hotel, but has been updated. The rooms have newer tile/carpet, flat screen tv's and large refrigerators (which was very convenient). The bathrooms were clean. The pool was nice and right on the Ocean with outside showers right when you get off of the beach. We stayed in an Ocean View room and our view from the 4th floor was really nice...I would not recommend staying on a lower floor, though, because the view would be obstructed significantly. The Ocean Front rooms all have excellent views. If you have small children, get an Ocean Front room for the safer balcony (see below).

Cons: I would not recommend Ocean View rooms if you have toddler or preschool-age children, and I would caution you when walking around the outdoor hallway area. The railings are old concrete with really wide openings. We tried to bring my 2 1/2 year old out on our balcony to look at the ocean, and he immediately ran to a large opening that he could have fallen through. The opening starts at the floor and goes to the railing so there is not even anything to block their little feet from slipping. Therefore, we could not use the balcony while he was awake. We also discovered that we couldn't use the balcony while he was sleeping either...the neighboring room's air conditioning unit blows hot air directly onto your balcony, making it very uncomfortable to sit outside. Rather than staying up to read/relax, we just went to bed. My only other disappointment was breakfast. When we got downstairs at 9am, most of the food was gone. They did re-stock it, but I had to get in a long line a total of 3 times (on a weekday). No waffle maker. They had a pancake machine that made sub-par pancakes two at a time and it kept malfunctioning. The bacon was cooked so much that it was really just crumbs in the serving tray. I've eaten breakfast at Best Western's before and it was much better. The beds were also very hard and uncomfortable.

Overall, I would recommend for a short stay, but in an ocean front room.

Pool and sun deck really nice. Need refreshments ( for purchase) by the pool. Long walk to get something. If you have small children you have to pack up then who wants to go back. The front desk lady was a bit rude. Answered the phone six times while checking us in. Should have told everyone she was with a guest please hole. That is always done at the Best Western Ocean hotel and I find it extremely nice. After all I am paying the people on the phone were asking directions, for towels, and if a room was available. One more phone call and my room would have been available. The beach is really nice. Also to eat try Betty's A1A.....great food.

Room Tip: We had a side ocean view. Really nice.

Pros-Great Pillows and Beds, Very Clean Rooms, Nice Pool, Easy access to beach

CONS-Worst Parking, not enough for each room to have a space. Parking garage was a nightmare, nowhere to turn around.
Internet was very low bars. Finally had to Hot Spot my phone to connect on the Internet
Breakfast-Very crowded, not sure why, only ate there one time. When you enter the restaurant you immediately are in a line to make pancakes, so you move on, then you end up behind a line of people making toast, 2 slices at a time. The sausage was good, the scrambled eggs were very hard. Cereal bar was good, then if you wanted oatmeal, that meant another line you had to get into. Orange juice was made with hot water. I was in the south, I wanted biscuits, gravy and grits. All in all, shouldn't complain....the Breakfast was free.

The beds and pillows make up for everything, they really are the best, but not the parking. It made me almost stay in every night for fear of not being able to find a parking place when I returned.

Room Tip: We had a side view room, so we only got to see the left side of the Atlantic Ocean.

The only negative thing I can say is that on Saturday parking was horrible, almost non existent. We reserved two nights, with one being a FREE night from a previous offer. The FREE night actually was a suite. They were going to move us to a regular room on the night we were paying for . However the girl at the desk arranged for us to remain in our suite for the paid night also!! We were quite pleased. Service was great all ways around.
