“Great Kayaking!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

We went to Tomoka State Park to Kayak. It was great! Great workout for your arms LOL. We saw wild dolphins and Bill at the desk gave us a great rate and was most friendly and informative of where to kayak the river.

“Old Old Florida, like in the WILD!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Tomoka State Park is a wonder - even if you just ride through the local roads. It is a bird watcher's paradise, but also a fisherman's wonder. I love the drive through Walter Boardman Drive and A1A. You see beach on A1A that has NO HOUSES! You can bike along the beach path and see no civilization for miles. it is a paradise compared to many other Florida beaches.

“Great campground”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

My husband and I tent camped for 5 days recently. The campsites are wooded and, thus, pretty private compared to other places we have camped around the state. It helps when you are tent camping alongside the jumbo RVs. The campsites are not all the same size so note the dimensions when booking and how many pieces of equipment you will need to fit in the space. We booked #7 which was pretty big for the tent, screened gazebo and our car. We were very pleased with the site itself. There are also only campsites on one side of the road with the low numbers so it affords additional privacy. However, the site had its share of used cigarette butts, discarded bottle caps, broken Christmas light strings and trash left behind from former tenants which we removed prior to setting up out tent. This was a disappointment. Bathrooms were always clean although the door being propped open all the time allowed mosquitoes to enter. The park should consider cleaning the screens to open up the air vents because it is hot in the building. Washers ($1.75) and dryers ($1.50) available and a communal sink if you need to wash dishes. This park is very quiet with the birds waking you up each morning around 6am. We heard raccoons at night but we were careful to store all food in the car at night.

This park is not near water where you can swim so if you are looking for the beaches you have to drive about 10 minutes to the shore. We did not rent canoes or kayaks but saw others each day. Restaurants are close by. Grocery stores about 6 miles away. The camp store is pretty small.

We would camp here again.

“Memorial Weekend Camping”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

From the start the rangers were very pleasant and helpful. Set up was easy and the spots were maintained for camping. The shower/bath areas were easy to get to and were clean. There were lots of places to fish around the park and there were canoe / kayak rentals, though we didn't take it up. There were several visitors in and out of the rentals. There were lots of picnic spots and there was also a little store. Prices were a tad high but not outrageous. It offered some basic food and drink. We missed the live music by the Ukele lady and I would like to go back to hear that sometime. The area was patrolled by local police and by FWC. I'm sure due to the holiday weekend but it was nice knowing they were around. We saw lots of wildlife to include baby armadillos, turtles, gators and deer. Nice location, close enough to the beach (15 minutes) but far enough away from the busyness of life. Would recommend this campground to any new camper or experienced camper! I marked recommended length of visit 2-3 hours though we camped, but if you are just checking out the area, boating or fishing, that's probably all you would need.

“Great Park & Campground”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We camped here with friends over a long weekend and absolutely loved it. The campground is beautiful, with lots of tree cover and some level of privacy between campsites. There was enough to do in the park and in the area. It was windy when we were there, so we didn't get to go kayaking, but we still enjoyed ourselves.
The restrooms near us were older, but clean and convenient. There were a couple sites with concrete pads, but mostly it was sandy and shelly. The nice thing about being closer to the beach is that you don't get a lot of the fine black dust around the campsite. There was no sewer hookup, but there is a dump station. Only complaint is the water wash-down hose at the dump station had a strange end on it and wouldn't hook up easily to our RV to flush the tanks.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again.
